Probably performs great, but I had to send it back. For starters, the thermoball jacket feels like a cheap knock-off of a thermoball. If you own a full-zip thermoball, then you'll immediately know. The regular full-zip thermoball are super soft, and have a cinch cord. This thermoball is made of a rougher material, and uses a different material as a liner. No cinch cord; no logo on back. The sleeves are so long that you have to fold them over, or else they will stick out from the shell. The shell also has its issues. Usually you don't see mesh lining on something this expensive. And at this price, why not zipper pockets, instead of drop in pockets on the inside of the shell? There were other issues too, but I think I got my point across. I really wanted to like this jacket, but if I paid up a little more, then I could just buy separates that I will like a whole lot more.
Disappointed,

I had to return the jacket. I'm a long time North Face jacket buyer. This is the first time I bought online without trying it on. I expected the sleeves to be a bit long as my arms are short. I normally cinch the Velcro wrist straps up and I'm good to go. However, the Velcro on this model did not allow me to tighten the wrists enough which caused the sleeves to hang too far down.
I'm hoping there's another North Face jacket out there that fits. If you once my return is processed I'll get one.

I would give it 5 stars but the sleeve lenght feels too long. The fitfinder recommend size M but i think a Small would fit better.

This is one of the nicest jackets I own and was excited about it the moment I tried it on in the store. I got it home just in time for the rains to start in Northern California. On the third day I was wearing the jacket, I went to pull my phone out of the pocket and my watch caught lightly on the material. It ripped immediately. Needless to say, I was quite upset about this. Outside of the tear I have down the front, I would recommend this jacket. But Be Careful!! Also, if anybody has recommendations on how to patch a jacket I am all ears.

As others have noted, while this is a nice (but bit pricey) jacket, the arm length is far too long. I'm not sure what The North Face is up to as I've bought their products in the past, but this is the second jacket in a row that has had excessively long sleeves. Unless you are over 6 feet tall, be careful.

This is a very nice jacket. It is well made, and the material is of high quality. It is stylish and warm. It has all the features I am looking for in a jacket, adjustable and removable hood, waterproof and windproof, zipped pockets, etc etc. The only improvement I can think of is perhaps the front zipper should be 2-way.
Unfortunately I had to return this jacket. Why? Because it has a serious design flaw. The flaw is the way how the inner jacket is attached to the shell. In order to zipper the two layers together, the liner jacket must be turned inside out. When attached this way, the inside pockets of the liner jacket become inaccessible because they are now between the 2 layers. Imagine you wore this jacket, entered a warm place, and decided to takeoff the shell and just wear the liner. Well, you'd look silly because after you'd unzipped and took off the shell you'd be wearing the liner jacket inside out! All your inside packets would now be exposed!
The main reason people buying 3-in-1 jackets is for the flexibility and convenience. That would not be the case with this jacket. In order to detach the outer and inner jackets you'd have to first unzip the front zipper, then unzip and separate the 2 layers, and then take off the inner jacket, and then reverse it and put it back on. The same steps in reverse order must be taken when you need to attach the 2 layers back together. I've never seen a 3-in-1 jacket works like this. Interestingly, this problem seems to only affect the current model year. My friend has the same TNF thermoball parka he bought a couple of years ago. That jacket had the "normal" design of the attaching system. When zipped together, the inside pockets of the liner jacket would be facing against your body and usable.
I really liked this jacket, but this flaw is a deal breaker for me. I had to return it. BTW, the customer service of TNF was 1st rate and was very easy to work with. I'm hoping TNF would correct the design next year.

Looks great. Fits perfect. But I'm returning it just because I didn't notice that it doesn't have an inside pocket to keep my phone while listening to music on the slopes. Such a bummer because I love this jacket.

The only con to it was the fact that I wanted a interior jacket that was grey and a red interior but received it vise Versa.

The color of the liner is wrong - it's bright red, not grey as shown!!! Would have kept it if it was grey....too bright for me.

I bought this parka as a grey one. The website shows that the liner is grey on its surface and red inside, but I got the opposite color is that the surface of liner is red and grey inside. It is a majority mistake. I called the company and got the answer that I got the correct product. If you are considering this one for grey, I strongly recommend you that the liner should be red.

I ordered this online and returned it as soon as I got it for three reasons.
1. This runs large. I normally wear a medium, but the medium in this jacket fit me like a tent.
2. The shell is very heavy. I wanted something lighter.
3. The hood is much too large, is not lined like the shell (so I would have to wear a hat under it to keep my head warm in cold and snowy weather), and has no drawstring to close it. There are some tiny cinch cords, but they're awkward to use and don't close the hood snugly.
I really wanted to like this jacket. The quality is excellent and it looks great, but it just didn't work for me.

I loved this jacket when I got it in the mail. It is very stylish and felt great when I put it on. The Dryvent fabric is stiff but I didn't mind because I thought it would be impermeable. I was wrong. 15 minutes in a light rain, walking home from the train and I was drenched. The water seeped through. I asked my family to touch the inside to check if I was not crazy and they confirmed. It went right through. I had walked in the snow for 15 before and my chest pockets were wet but I thought it had been my gloves when I grabbed my phone. After the rain fiasco it was confirmed.
FYI: the thermoball insulation jacket that comes with it is not warm in the arms or shoulders. TNF did not add thermoball insulation to the arms or shoulders so you get cold quickly unless you are active. Look at the picture of the insert insulation jacket and you'll see it is not like the standalone thermoball.
I really wanted to love this jacket. It is super stylish, has inner goggle pocket, a goggle wipe mini pocket on the sleeve, ample chest pockets and hand warmer pockets (fleece). But the shell is not really waterproof and it is not very warm unless you layer up underneath.

I'm 6' 2''. The online sizeindicated I was a large. (I'm always a large). The product arrives and is way too big.

I only used the product on one ski trip and the snap that holds the removeable internal jacket sleeve to the outer shell sleeve broke the first time I took the jacket off. For the price of the product I had higher expectations of the durability.

There were many reviews on the fit of the upper part of the jacket, and they were right. I am 5' 10" 190lbs, 44" chest. I bought a large/regular and standing straight up and down it was good, but as soon as you brought your arms accross your chest you could feel the seams of the jacket tighten up accross your back. So moral of the story is if you have bigger chest and shoulders this jacket is not for you.

I purchased this jacket for the cold Minnesota winters. I am an overweight woman, and the women's sizes don't fit me, so I bought a men's jacket. It fits around my belly, but the sleeves are about a foot too long. The black part of the jacket is huge and stiff and "tarpy," and the robin's-egg blue color on the website is actually dark teal. I love The North Face, but I was very disappointed this time.

Based on the reviews I thought I would give this jacket a try. I went to my local North Face retail store in Providence, RI to try it on. I ended up thinking it looked good so I ended up purchasing it. After wearing it only twice in the span of the two weeks I owned it, I realized I had made a mistake in purchasing it. It was not the right jacket for me as it felt too big, restricted certain movements and was not as warm I had had hoped.

I went to store to buy a jacket for cold weather which is also waterproof for snow or rain. I was told this is the most warm jacket and perfect layering for winters. They didnt had the size so I bought online.
This is first winter that I was gonna wear it. But this jacket is a piece of waste. Cannot even last in 40F let alone 20's as the company claim it to be.

Wear 3 times recently at temperature between 34 to 45, not warm. Feel like 60 dollars Uniqlo down jacket, it doesn't worth for the price, very disappointed with North Face.

This is my first time buying TNF products, I live in Chicago and the weather is super cold in the winter. Read the reviews and it said this was a really warm jacket. I've used it 2 different times since last week and i feel cold wearing it. Im gonna see if I can return it and get a heavier coat maybe. This might be a good spring jacket but its not good for Winters here in Chicago.

Prima Loft came out in 4 out of 4 coats! I switched to a different jacket. The higher end coats are great! Well worth the money!
