Wore these on our trip to Ireland this summer. Our visit took us to the Cliffs of Moher, Killarney National Park, Skellig Michael and many other wonderful places. These shoes were a godsend! Supportive without being too bulky. They worked great with my hiking clothes - both skorts and pants. They were a far cry better than sneakers, but boots would have been overkill. These shoes were awesome!

This is my second pair of Moab 2 GTX, after owning numerous pair of standard Moabs and WP Moabs. The waterproofing on the GTX far exceeds that of the WP Moab, which in all 4 pair I have owned only lasted about 6 months before all of the waterproofing properties were no longer effective. However, the GTX - after nearly a year - have proven to still prevent wet feet .. even in snow. Love the usual Moab fit and comfort!!

Much to my surprise and delight this Merrell low hiker fit my narrow foot very well. It has a substantial Vibram sole and so is not a "sleek" shoe. Rather it is clearly made for hiking or woods walking. I tried it with my low running socks and my wool walking socks. With both it seemed to fit. The toe box is a bit square, but not so roomy that my foot moved around. And it seemed the laces would allow me to snug it up properly. I like Merrell in general, but sometimes find their shoes run wide. This worked for me.

I ordered these and the Salomon GTX. After much back and forth I picked the Salomons. They were a little lighter, and felt more like runners than hikers. These are a little bulkier, but are very comfy, supportive and would be great on the trail.

I always get a half size larger in Merrill and they fit perfectly. A little stiff at first but limbered up quickly after a few walks. The SAGE color was mostly grayish, which I was grateful for. I’ve worn Merrill Moabs for many years and was glad that this new shoe seems to be just as good as my others.

I wear size 5, but always size up in Merrells, and bought 5.5. Perfect fit. These are very rugged shoes, offer great support. I wasn't sure at first about the tongue -- the fold in the gussetting seemed a bit rough at first, but I've only to loosen the laces slightly -- the shoes are still firmly tied, but I experience no rubbing. Have worn them for a week now, about 30-40 miles. Absolutely no complaints. Proven waterproof (accidentally stepped into what I thought was a pile of dried leaves but turned out a deep puddle).

Lots of toe room (did not order wide width), will take some breaking in to soften top area around tongue and laces, but much better after just one wearing. Make sure to arrange attached tongue before lacing as it can press uncomfortably on the top of your foot if folds over wrong. Bulky round lace presses uncomfortably onto the bone on right foot but I think this is another breaking in issue. I usually take a 7 1/2 in street/running shoes, but I always get an 8 in Merrill hikers to accommodate thicker socks.

I bought these to replace an older pair of Moab waterproof (not goretex) shoes. I purchased the same size and width. These do feel wider than the others but for me that's okay because I have a wide foot and have had bunion surgeries so I'm okay with a bit of extra room. At first there was something jabbing me under the shoe tongue on one foot but it seemed to be just a matter of adjusting the fold created by the lace looped thru on one side. That seemed to solve the issue and now it's fine. I was able to head out for a one hour hike on a moderate trail wearing the shoes right out of the box with no break-in period. I also removed the inserts to put my own orthotics into the shoe. No problem there. Always hard to find size 5 shoes so I'm very happy with my purchase all around.

I have been wearing this for about a week now mainly for light hiking around the neighborhood. So far, I am very satisfied with the fit and the support. Stayed with my regular tennis shoes size, 5 1/2

Love love this shoe!!! However they didn't have the color I wanted and I found a better price only reason I am returning. Great for narrow feet but provides enough room for to loosen for swelling as you hike and the toe bed isn't constricting. Love Merrell's arch support they are the best fit for high arches. This is a must have for low top hiking if you like the color

I returned this pair. It felt too stiff for my preference, but still comfortable. I think Merrell runs at least half a size smaller. I wanted a little more room in the event that my feet swell during the hike. Ironically, my heels were slipping out from this pair. However, this is much more comfortable than the Salomon GTX pair. Foot bed is cushiony and comfortable. It is a typical hiking shoe; bulky but feet feel secure. I exchanged this pair for the waterproof mid Merrell Moab 2. I went half a size bigger. I am usually a 7.5 M and the 8M on the mid was perfect for me.

I purchased these to replace my very old and worn Merrell's (same waterproof ones). I have worn the new pair walking for about 2.5 miles on city streets and soft, flat wooded area in the Midwest and during cold sleet. It is difficult to replace well-worn, comfortable shoes that "know your feet." That said, I think the toe box of the shoes is slightly wider than the old ones (thank you, Merrell, for that for mild bunion and hammer toe comfort). Securely tied and worn with my usual winter wool socks they are comfortable and my feet feel secure in the shoes for walking on uneven pavement and in the sleet. I bought the same size as my old ones and given that my feet have "relaxed" as I get older, I am pretty sure that I got the correct size. If I had been in a store I would have tried a half size larger -- but, I think that half size larger would've been too big. Time (lots of time) will tell how they hold up to miles of walking! I never give any product or service a five star because no one and no product is perfect!

Comfortable out of the box. Needed no breaking in. I went on a 2 1/2 mile hike, rocky and steep in some areas, and I I never had any slipping. Great traction. I have high arches and the arch support is very good. Very happy with these shoes.

This was a great shoe, but I ended up going with a little shoe to serve as my daily (gravel road) walking shoes.

For 18 months I traveled around Europe and I did quite a bit of urban walking. I started in June 2017 and by September my Red beautiful Keen MJ presidios were worn out, I spent a great deal on Ecco and Mephisto shoes -- waste BUT then I found these in a sport store in Stockholm. I spent $112 for them and finally had a shoe that could stand up to cobblestone and not wear out my feet or the shoe! Except for the loose laces - which once doubled stayed in place they were perfect. They disappeared on my flight from Boston to SF so I just now replaced them and my feet are so happy I did! They fit perfectly, great support and comfort and even flattering on my feet - plus waterproof!

The fit and sizing seemed perfect. I like the wider toe bed even though I do not have wide feet-makes more room for thicker socks when the weather is cold. They haven't been tested in puddles, but definitely kept my feet and socks dry while walking the dog and that's the reason I bought them!

I ordered the 8 and 8.5 in this shoe and wore around the house with medium weight wool socks (REI). Although the 8's were okay, the 8.5 was most similar to my old sized 8 Merrell hiking shoes, thus there seemed to be a size change from earlier years. I preferred the Gortex version of this as I saw reviewers that had problems with moisture seepage with the waterproof version of the same shoe. I also debated between this and the Siren Edge 3 water proof. The latter fit a little tighter and I definitely needed the 8.5 in that. I could not decide on which shoe to finally settle with. The Moab 2 was most like my tried and true Merrells I've had for years. But I liked the sleeker profile of the Siren Edge that could look more like a tennis shoe than a hiker. So, I decided to keep both. The Moab 2 for true hiking and the Siren Edge more for traveling and taking walks. I hope I am happy with that decision and not duplicating myself too much. I have yet to wear them outside, so hopefully I've made the best size decision.

Second time is the charm. I had to return 1 pair because one shoe had a very rough stitch inside hitting my big toe. But the second one - Merrell Moab at its best. I owned another pair for 16 years and it just fell apart one me.. :).. I love the add of the bright detailing vs. the my previous brown/beige version - adds a nice flair.

It was a very good product with great construction and good comfort level. A little pricey, but well made! Wish there was just a little more arch support, but otherwise GREAT!

Pretty shoe. Feels substantial and supportive. Very wide, but with a heavy hiking sock it should work. Bought for touring around Ireland on vacation this fall...

The Moab line is my go-to of all the Merrell styles. The extra width in the toebox and room through the upper are key for me. If you're looking for waterproof, spend the extra and get the goretex version. The "waterproof" version of the Moabs isn't. I've bought two pair of waterproof Moabs (thinking the first might have been a fluke) but both pairs were only waterproof if you didn't let water come up over the toe-cap. The goretex version really IS waterproof.
