I've been a fan of Merrill boots and shoes since I had my first pair and I've bought several pairs over the past few years.

Bought these for summer wear because my leather shoes were too hot. Fit well for my average 11D foot. As some other reviews have mentioned, the arch support does seem to be back towards the heel farther than usual, but I think it also helps your foot from sliding forward as much. I use these every day around a horse barn and so far they have held up well. I may need to add an additional insole because they are not quite as cushioned as I prefer. As hiking boots I would think that the feel for the ground you get would be a plus however.

Light and comfortable.
Laces should be a bit longer though.

I like the look and feel of these hiking shoes...not boots, as they are quite a lot shorter than what I expected in a hiking boot. And they are a tad tight/narrow. I can wear thinner socks and they'll be OK. I do wish Merrell had 4E widths.

This is my second pair; bought the first pair when they were MOAB, not MOAB2, which are very slightly changed. Wore the soles out on the first pair to the point they had very little traction left on the heel and in the flat spot of the front foot. These shoes breathe well and work great in desert or anyplace Gore-Tex or similar water resistance is not deeded. I have used them hiking in the Washington Cascades and the Southern California desert and would recommend them as long as it's dry. The only think I don't like about them is the sole pattern and wear. I would like a Vibram or similar brand sole that has more "bite" in the lugs and wore longer. A little more pronounced heel with the extra bite in forward lugs would be good as well for walking downhill. The soles were worn out long before the uppers. I also had a problem with the top eyelet (metal) losing one of its attaching points. But overall, I haven't found a better warm weather/dry hiker and I walk a lot of miles.

Had these for about 10 months and wear them most every day, fit and comfort are great and they still look almost new. Recently the left shoe has developed a very noticeable creak/ squeak with every step. Sound is coming from inside the sole and can be duplicated by bending the shoe. Sadly this makes them unwearable for work as this is quite annoying and at times even embarrassing. Time to retire these to lawn mowing duty.

Great hiking and work boot. Fairly cool and breathable which is hard to find these days. What I like most is the great arch support made stronger and more stable by the heel toe drop. It is hard to find a boot with this feature, My 100% leather firefighting boots are the only other boots that have significant heel to toe drop (my running shoes also do). This is a serious hiking boot with a very agressive Vibram sole. The insole is made thin and perforated to maintain the cool foot in warm weather. More cushioned insoles where your foot sinks in more are warmer and make your feet sweat more.
What I don't like: The lacing system on this boot needs locking eyelets on the top three so you can tighten down the ankle snug without tightening the toes. My only other issue is sizing, I guess I am just in between sizes with Merrell. I wear an size 11 in the current brand I have been wearing. The 10 1/2 Merrell was too big and the size 10 was too small, tried the wide and the heel was too wide, and in the D width I need more room on the little toe (needs a bigger toebox) I went with the 10 and it is only uncomfortable on steep downhills

I love Merrel products and these boots are no different. They are extremely comfortable and lightweight but rugged at the same time. I would recommend these to anyone. Couldn't be more happy and I'm glad I bought them.

We'll I Have to Admit "This" is the First Review I Have Ever Written About "Anything. I Purchased the Moab 2 Mid Ventilator. Because I Worked in the Middle East. With Temps. Rising Above 120 Deg. F. I Didn't Want to Write a Review, Until the Shoes/Boots Had a Through Work-Out. I Must Admit. The the Rubber Soles & Welt & "All" Seams Stayed Sealed & Did Not Come Unglued Due to Heat. It Gets So Hot. I Have Had Tennis Shoes Melt to the Wing of Airplanes Like Goo. The Ventilation of the Shoe Was "Good" Strong Breeze & You Could Feel the Air Coning Into Shoe. I Stay on My Feet (12) Hrs/Day on Concrete Aircraft Ramp. Temp of Pavement 150 Deg. (+) Also, Notice 1st Thing the Shoes Had Good Arch Support. I Have Flat-Feet. Shoe Was Light-Weight. And Very Comfortable to Wear. Only Problem Was My Rt. Little Toe Would Rub on Inside of Seam @ Toe Cap. Tried Everything & Had to "Quit" Wearing Them. "Ordered" 11-1/2 Wide & All Was Good. Should of Ask For "Refund" I'm Sure Merrill Would of Honored It. But Gave Them to a Co-Worker Who Still Wears Them Today. 6 Mo. Intense Trial. I Would "Highly" Recommend This Shoe. Hope Merrell "Doesn't Change the Style, Just For Marketing Reasons. Merrell. Keep Making Em' & We'll Keep Buying Them

Loved the product, would buy again. hiked 3 14ers in Colorado in one week and feet felt great!
I did break them in a bit before hand and had a few blisters, but this shoe performed well and helped me to have a great vacation in the mountains!

I really like this shoe except for the in-sole. To me it feels like I'm wearing high heels because the heel is so thick. I thought maybe it was just me so I pulled the in-soles out of my Merrell Sawtooths and compared them. The Sawtooth in soles had the support in the arch were it should be. This is my main complaint with this shoe. The only other thing that bothers me is that the eyelets are cloth and not metal like the Sawtooth. However, only time will tell if these will last if they do then great. Other than that the shoe is great and it does appear to be quality made as always with Merrell. And to the Merrell big wigs and design people please bring back the Sawtooth or something with a similar bottom sole. I really liked the simple yet aggressive pattern on the bottom of the shoe. It made it much easier to clean the mud off of it. The Moab 2 is a great shoe, but I'm probably gonna change the in-sole which makes it lose points with me because I like to buy a shoe and wear it without having to customize it. Anyway thanks Merrell I'll still buy your shoes.

I have purchased these same shoes for a number of years. I like the way they fit and they do last quite a while. They are durable. There is one thing, they make my feet hot and sweat a lot , other than that I would recommend them for hiking or everyday wear

I have been using these for a couple of years and have 3 pairs in degrees of wear; old, just worn in and new.
Fit and heel support are very good.
I'd also recommend:

My job involves a lot of fast pace walking around the office, plant and several satellite locations. The conditions change from being outdoors, carpet, asphalt, tile, and other surfaces. A normal day I will walk close to three miles, this may not seem a lot of the hobbyist hiker. These shoes are light, comfortable and sturdy. I don't have any fatigue issues at the end of the day, nor do I feel as if my legs are heavy; as I like to call it Jimmy Hoffa legs. Overall I've been wearing these shoes now for nearly three weeks, during this time I did spend the weekend at the 2017 Arnold Sports Expo in Columbus, I walked a lot and was standing for long periods of time with no issues. So far, so good and if these shoes hold up I will be buying another pair of Merrell's once it is time to replace these.

I bought a these three months ago for my husband who does a lot of work around our property. He loves the shoe, but a grommet at the top of the shoes came off, so the hook for the shoelace doesn't stay in place. I expect shoe parts to last longer than three months on Merrell shoes.
