I'm sure These Boots would be perfect for someone with different feet than mine. I have wide feet and bunions and they seemed just a bit tight but perhaps would have worked. However the high area above the heel at the back of the ankle rubbed my ankle badly enough that I didn't want to take a chance that I would be able to break in the shoes. Had to send them back.

Arch support is too close to ball of foot so I really had no arch support. Will have to return.

Bought these boots after reading so many good reviews on here as well as other websites. They are great looking hiking boots, run true to size, and were actually really comfortable out of the box (I took them on a 6 mile hike with no breaking in). Even with these positives, I was so dissapointed with how they performed on wet and icy surfaces. I was slipping and sliding everywhere. They have NO traction. My cousin owns a "competitors" boot (start with a V) and hers were just as comfortable, and she was not slipping anywhere. This MOAB is also not entirely waterproof. I don't recommend these if you're looking for a pair of boots you can use in any weather. They will probably be great if you don't take them out in the winter and don't get them too wet. I am pretty disappointed, wish I could return them.

I find these boots pretty comfortable but overall performance could be drastically better, especially for the price. More specifically, the traction in wet weather such as rain for example. Maybe I got a defective pair, I don't know but I thought the vibram traction would have been better. Bummed out.

Definitely not true to size in width or length. I wear an 8 and have a normal to narrow foot. Most of my shoes slip off the back too because I’m in between sizes; 7.5/8. Reordered the wide but they were too wide and looked ridiculous.

I mainly purchased this boot for trails/work and I wanted something comfortable that would keep my feet warm and dry. I have worn them to work for three days and they are extremely comfortable, sturdy and not heavy at all. I have been waiting for a rainy/snowy day to see how dry they kept my feet. Well, it rained all day at work and by the end of the day my feet were wet.., not soaking wet, but damp. I am in and out of my truck all day delivering packages etc, and sometimes you have to walk across a soggy lawn. So disappointed.

Purchased this shoe for Seattle weather & walking. Very comfortable walking shoe. However, not as waterproof as advertised. 2nd month after purchase in Seattle and one of the shoes develops a "leak" in the toe section of the shoe after walking in rain. Expected better performing product particularly from Merrell. Have worn Merrell shoes before & was very pleased with them. This pair is a disappointment particularly for the price. As an experienced hiker, definitely would not recommend for hiking in wet areas or damp climates.

Got these to hike Rock Island, WI. As stated, they were amazingly comfortable right out of the box! I don't like anything on my ankle, but these are Uber comfortable on the ankle. I also appreciated the extra support on rocky terrain. It rained at night, and our tent got blown in. We had to hike 2 miles to the shelter in the rain, and my feet and the shoes were SOAKED!!! No, I did not walk through any puddles. Yes, I had the laces tightened, so rain did not get in from the ankle, cuz I even had my pants over them. The "waterproof membrane" is anything but waterproof.

Love the support in these boots, but they are not waterproof. Even walking in wet grass my feet get wet.

They are so comfortable! I thought these are my new favorite hiking shoes. But after a 7-day use on my trip, the sole started to separate. See the photo.

I bought these as a gift for my wife. She said they fit well and were comfortable. Unfortunately when she stepped into a puddle that covered her toe, her foot got wet! We deliberately bought the water-proof version. We are greatly disappointed in the waterproof failure.

I bought these shoes online without trying them on first cause so many of the reviews say they are so comfortable and don't need to break them in buy and hike same day. Mine on the other hand seem to rub really bad on my left ankle and doesn't go away the longer you hike or wear or walk in them.I've tried hiker socks ,thin socks ,regular socks still same something rubs on my ankle and is painful . Have not figured it out. So just know you definitely need to try on hiking boots, no matter who makes them.

I really wanted to love these shoes. I wore them some at home to break them in and then took them on a trip to Arches National Park. I took many long hikes there and the shoes preformed great for gripping the rocks and not slipping. I felt confident going on slick rock and climbing. The shoe fit nicely and protected my ankles. The only problem is that I got blisters on both of my heals. I had to wear bandaids on both feet every day during the trip. Today again I wore the shoes in the rain, thinking that maybe I hadn't broken them in enough but after an hour or driving around my heals started to hurt. I discovered that in the back of the shoe is a seam that sticks out just enough to bother my feet. I don't know if this is a design flaw in my shoe or all are like this. I'm so sad.

First time out has to get used to it, grip/traction wasn't quite like my very old ones and slipped on a wet rock in a cavern. For some reason top of right foot near tongue flap got bruised after a couple wears. Ankle support not as great as I wanted. Disappointed and wish my old model was still around!

Fits small in toe box. I purchased a half size up to account for thick hiking socks, but even still found that these fit quite tight in the toe box. I ended up getting blisters on my toes from them rubbing against the edges of the boots. Unfortunately, Merrell was unable to return these because I'd already worn them.

I switched from my super comfortable Keen mid waterproof boots purely for the Vibram soles, and the grip in these boots is great. However, they are not very comfortable...feet hurt after one mile ( not great arch support)..and almost worse, just walking through wet snow, my toes became wet. Bummer.

I tried these because they are highly rated although I have never bought Merrell before. I probably will not buy Merrell again because the last doesn't fit. Merrell's "women's last" is pretty much the same as the men's - the heel is too wide and the forefoot too narrow for a typical woman's foot.

I have ordered two different sizes of the "wide" shoe but I get boots that say wide on the box but nowhere on the shoe and are too narrow for me. Almost perfect shoe! Just need it truly wide. Returned both.

I got these boots to hike the Pemi-loop (30+ miles) and have always heard great things about Merrill and their quality. The first day of the hike, there was an extended downpour and it didn't take long for my boots to audibly "slosh" with every step. They took forever to dry out as we were backpacking. The more disappointing issue had to do with blisters. I wore these boots for hikes/workouts at least a month prior to my backpacking trip and they seemed comfortable (although a bit hot) and my toes seemed happy. After the first day of rain on the trail, however, I developed severe and identical blisters on the arch of my foot near the heel - where the insoles hit. The blistering became so severe, I had to take the insoles out entirely. This seemed to stop my blisters from getting too much worse. I now plan to replace the original insoles with store-bought ones to see if it helps. Cons: blisters everywhere slightly water-resistant versus waterproof boots make feet feel very hot while hiking Pro: Wonderfully grippy outsole- even in the rain! They helped me stick like a toad to slick and dry surfaces (as long as I kept the boots perpendicular to the surface).

I'm so sad and mad at these boots. They are comfortable I was able to hike in them a few miles immediately without having to break then in. They have arch support and are not slipping. However. They are NOT waterproof whatsoever!! I tried them multiple times already and I never intentionally walked in deep waters or stepped into deep puddles at all, yet even when it's raining just a bit or I walk on wet surface my feet became SOAKING WET every time!! It's super annoying as it's supposed to be waterproof but it is not. Then there's the smell issue. I never had a "smelly" feet in any of my shoes, yet after a few miles in these my feet smell terribleapparently they don't let air travel through properly. Now onto the laces. They loosen up ALL THE TIME so I need to stop from time to time during the hike to fasten them again. I've tried so many boots so far and comfort-wise these are great and if you don't mind the smell they work well in dry weather. But when there's even a drop of rain or any kind of water nearby, you're going to have a hard time in these.

I purchased these based upon the reviews where many stated that they were comfortable right away. Not sure what's going on with my feet but to me, they felt like I was walking with cement shoes. I returned them and bought a pair of Hokas and THOSE felt comfortable right away. I know they may not last as long but it's worth it to me to have comfortable shoes for our upcoming hiking trip in Italy.
I'd also recommend:
Hokas

I really wanted to love these shoes. I've got another pair of Merrells that are wonderful, so I figured these would be just as great. But.... there's a weird arch support in these shoes I couldn't get past. It's like the arch is in the wrong place. It felt like there was a lump in the shoe farther back than where my arch is. Maybe I have strange feet, but I've never had this problem with any of my shoes before. I tried taking out the footbed and there was nothing wrong with the length or width of the shoe. But rather than messing around trying to find a different foodbed that would work, at these prices I just returned the shoe. Too bad -- it's a very lightweight shoe with great traction and ankle support, just what I needed.

Wore these today on boggy, slushy terrain. Very comfortable, but my feet were soggy and wet by the 3km mark. Luckily the insulation was good and I was not cold...just very wet for a waterproof boot?
