I do have to say they are comfortable, when i go to put them on they are a bit hard i think due to the padding and stuff, i have to pull out the laces more to get them on easier; so it definitely is a more snug fit but it is comfortable once on. I work outside, I do wetland delineations and tree surveys so i do a lot of walking. The shoe laces do come untied alot, stuff will grab at them and untie them, i try to keep my pant leg over them but even double tying doesn't work sometimes.
I walked in a dewy field one day about 3 weeks ago and my feet were drenched; my feet squished and they had water pouring out of them when i took them off, so I definitely would not recommend wearing these in a wet dewy field. (I Was wearing duluth firehose pants, which i tried to keep over the opening and the laces).

This is the second time Zappos sent the wrong size shoe. I’m keeping these because they fit my daughter.

There are a lot of things that I love about these boots - mainly that they're comfortable (with no break in time needed) and waterproof. However, I'm confused by all the reviews that mention good traction because that has not been my experience at all. They're okay going up rocks but so slippery going down (worse than when I used to hike in sneakers). Disappointed that I'm going to have to look into buying a different pair.

I love how flexible the shoe is but I feel it doesn't hit at my arch. Maybe it's better for high arches.

Loved the look of this boot as and the soles looked very durable. Unfortunately, I will be sending them back as I have a flat foot and the arch was just too uncomfortable for me. I ordered a size 12 women’s and could have used a half size larger as well.

I buy Merrell shoes a lot. It seems they are the only shoes that fit my feet properly. I have a pair of Moab hiking boots I've had for 3 years, and wanted another pair so ordered the same size, the same style, just a different color. I was so disappointed when I put them on. I couldn't believe they were the same boot. My 3 year old boots had more padding, a more cushioned sole, fit comfortably snug, but not tight. The new ones feel hard, sloppy fit and all around just felt cheaper. The insert did not seem to fit in the shoe properly as the edge dug into my arch. Perhaps it was a default? Did you change the way these are made or where they are made? Sadly, they are in a box headed back for a return.

I've had these boots a couple of months and have worn them pretty regularly on light hikes through the woods in Vermont, as well just day to day errand running, etc. They're extremely comfortable and took no time to break in. I've loved them until today, our first snow. Today I had them on while walking on a wooded trail in about an inch and a half of of snow and they soaked right through. I thought they were meant to be waterproof? It's in the name! Am I missing something? I've had Merrells in the past and they've always lasted a long time and have been worth the splurge on a student budget, so this is frustrating. I was counting on these to be my go to shoes for light snow and spring mud season and was really hoping for better waterproofing.

I think these are good boots but I bought my regular size. They felt okay on flat ground but when I finally got up in more mountainous climbing they are really uncomfortable on the downhill. Too late to return them. But I will have to look for another pair locally that I can try on before purchasing

At least half to full size too small. Just not a good fit I am a size 6 with little to no arch.

Although this boot is very comfortable it is NOT waterproof. After wearing them on a 3 hour hike in mild rain the other day I found that my socks and feet were soaked and I was freezing.
I am VERY disappointed as other Merrell boots have been waterproof.
I'm going to take them back to REI.

These were super comfy right out of the box and I wore them walking on flat forested trails throughout the fall, winter and spring without any problems. I really appreciated the support and grip on the shoes. Unfortunately I recently walked in the rain for an hour and my feet were soaked. My orthotics were completely wet and so were my socks. I was very disappointed as I have only owned these just under a year. I called Merrell and they recommended that I fill in a Defective Product Form with photos, which I have done so I will have to wait and see if they will replace them. If not, I won't buy these again. Can't take a chance that they will disappoint me again.

Loved these shoes for the past year walking 5x per week in the forest. It is just under a year old and after a 1h walk in the rain today, the boots were soaked. Both my orthotics and my socks were wet. So disappointed as the shoe was very comfortable and had good traction. I won't buy again.

For a wide foot, these boots are about the only women's last that I can buy that fit my feet. I carry heavy equipment up the rocky mtns for work as a surveyor. My biggest complaint is the tread. For a groomed trail that's not terribly steep it's fine. It's dangerous in pine duff (slippery), and super sticky and slick in mud. Downhill on slopes is dicey. It's not great on a good, dry day. It's terrible in adverse conditions. Because these fit the feet, I suffer with them through many injuries and slower steps. I miss the old leather Merrells that lasted the whole year with lug soles.

I bought these boots in Summer 2017, and being from Michigan, I've only had the opportunity to use them a couple times a year when I go on hiking trips. They have been incredibly comfortable from the moment I first put them on - I have not had a single blister at any point. However, the 4-5 trips I had used them on thus far were all on dry terrain. This past weekend, I went on a backpacking trip through slightly snowy conditions and did some creek crossings where I was stepping on stones with less than an inch of water running over them... and my feet got pretty wet. Like another reviewer said, the water and snow never came very high on the boot, and certainly not to the laces, but my socks were quite soaked by the end of the day- not very comfortable for long mileage days with a heavy pack. If you know you'll be in dry conditions, I couldn't recommend these boots more, for their breathability and comfort. But in my experience, they certainly weren't waterproof.

Merrell shoes are great out the box, but there is not tremendous arch support. I have wide feet and these are ok, but not with anything more than a light to medium hiking sock. The waterproof version was great in rain and snow, my feet stayed dry and warm.

I really wanted to like these. Everyone else reviewing them raved about them and how they didn't need breaking in. But they were so tight when I put them on, I kept checking if I left some of the packaging in them. I usually am an 8 Medium in boots, and I couldn't even get my foot into the 8.5. So I ordered the 9 medium. Which technically fit my foot size. So I'd suggest ordering a full size larger than you are. However, I still could barely lace them as they had no room for my high instep and arch. They also seemed incredibly boxy. I was tempted to try a 9 Wide, but given the style, it would be like putting my foot into an even bigger box shaped shoe. I could tell they'd be comfortable if I could have laced them up. So, definitely try them if you do not have a high arch or instep.

I would not purchase this boot again for hiking in New England. This boot is heavy and the tread looks tough but I slid on dry, textured rocks easily. This boot is water resistant but NOT waterproof. I like the colors and the ankle support but that’s about it. Not worth the asking price.

I spent months researching and then trying on hiking boots. I even wore them in the house for a few hours before deciding to keep them. Unfortunately, after a day wearing them, I found that one foot felt great, but the other one cramped my toes. I've never had a problem where one shoe fit differently than the other so I'm at a loss to explain this; all I can think is that one was made a bit smaller. Really disappointed because the one shoe is extremely comfortable, I just wish the other felt the same. If they both felt great, this would be a 5 star rating!

I wanted to love these boots but the heel support is just non existent. The rest of the sole fits great but gets to the heel and feels like there's a big hole. Even having these in around the house felt awkward and made me either lean forward on my feet or tilt to stand on my heels. Not balanced at all.

I love these boots for their comfort and support. The width, insole, and traction are amazing. I wore them often from October to March last winter, and a couple times during the summer when hiking. This fall, however, they leak. My toes got wet walking in a light rain, on a sidewalk, with an umbrella. They still look almost new and have lots of wear left, but the leaking is a huge disappointment. My guess is the waterproof lining only lasts one year.

These Merrell Moab 2 Mid Waterproof hiking shoes (the black ones, not the brown ones shown) and the looks of them are excellent. I put on mid-weight socks and wore them around the house for over an hour because I wasn't sure about the fit. They are lightweight and seem to be well made, but the toe box area is too snug. Also, at the end of the wearing time, my toes started to lose feeling, which I can't imagine why. Then I knew I had to return these. Disappointing!

My first Merrells and so far I'm dubious. Bought a full size larger than usual to accommodate thicker socks in winter and still find the toe box applies pressure to the outside of my big toes. After only a week of wear and one morning walking in heavy dew (wearing summer weight wool socks) I found my toes waterlogged. The next day I removed the insoles to feel moisture still within the boots. If a little dew is all it takes to wet them, I shudder to think what actual wet weather will do. And these aren't inexpensive. Also, the laces come untied easily, even double-knotted. So far I'm extremely disappointed.
