These shoes seem durable and waterproof, however they are not breathable at all and leave my feet unbearably hot. Even walking through snow, at the end of the day my feet are drenched in sweat. The fabric of my last pair of Merrel hiking shoes was much different and did not cause me any issues. I will definitely not be able to wear these shoes in the summertime which is what I purchased them for.

I bought these because many said they fit great right out of the box. Nope! Size 11 wide pinches my baby toe on one foot so I will be sending these back. They look nice and appear good quality but they do not fit. Bummer. Not happy about the return process but it is what it is.

I am about to return my second pair to the store after discovering in short order neither pair are waterproof. I am not walking through puddles but mostly wet grass on a golf course and would expect that these boots would stand up to a little dampness. I am disappointed as they are extremely comfortable with excellent support but not happy with wet socks after 18 holes of golf.

I've had these boots for about a month. They are nice boots but there is one complaint I have about them. When you are walking on a slippery surface like a wet rock or wet bridge there is no traction. You have to be very careful to avoid slipping and falling. Even being careful you still slip. You would think with 135 dollar merrell boots you wouldn't have to worry with this issue. I recently had ACL surgery earlier this year and I have to be on guard wearing these boots to avoid being reinjured.

Comfy right out of the box, good sturdy hikers, but not remotely waterproof, especially not in the Pacific Northwest. I've worn them outside so can't return them now. I'm very disappointed; Merrell's been a pretty reliable brand for me for a couple of decades.

I bought these hikers a couple of months ago. They are very comfortable, but definitely not waterproof. My husband also has a pair. It's discouraging to seek out a nice pair of hikers that clearly state they are waterproof. Not water repellent, but waterproof!! After the first instance of wet socks, I even coated the mesh with a waterproofing sealant. I did not help.

I bought these 3 months ago and generally love them - they are sturdy but comfortable. However they are not at all waterproof. Just hiking in wet grass my socks are wringing wet after a few miles.

Love how they fit, but both pairs of mine were waterproof for about 3 months. Now my feet are soaked even if I am just walking through wet grass.

I have worn my other Merrill Moab shoes out and was looking to replace. This Merrill show is very uncomfortable. Maybe cut narrower? Unfortunately need to return.

I've worn Merrell Moab Mid Waterproof hiking boots since the 1990s. I'm willing to put up with the fact that they now have Vibram cheap soles instead of the great ones they used to have. The comfort and stability of Moab boots is what keeps me buying them, year after year, for the past few decades.
I ordered this pair in 2020, and I doublechecked my order to make sure they were waterproof. They are not. When I walk in the rain, the rain soaks into the uppers and my socks and feet wind up soaked. I'm still wearing them, as is, since they are comfortable and stable and, up until now, had been my favorite hikers.
They're good but Merrell quality has steadily gone downhill since I first started using them.

Pretty disappointed in this purchase. I thought they were very comfortable in the toe box but I felt like the heel was a rock under my foot. I bought Superfeet Trailblazer inserts to correct and rebalance my foot in the shoe and then felt they would be comfortable for long hikes. I took them out for a quick 3 miles the next day and had no problems with them. Took them out the following day for a 5 mile hike in moderate rain conditions and they were totally soaked through! It's taken a day for them to totally dry out. I don't think I would ever trust these for more than a few miles in totally dry conditions. For the price of the shoe plus inserts, I guess I can't expect perfection.

Third hike in my new boots, one of the shoelace holders popped out. I had a sewing kit and was able to put in a few stitches to hold it till I got home and could fix it properly, I expected better quality for the price. Other than that they are great boots.

The boot itself was ok-pretty heavy. My complaint is there is very little arch support. Even with my custom orthotics, my feet turned in. Disappointed that a boot at this price point is so unsupportive. Isn't that the purpose of a hiking boot. Might as well wear my sneakers- way more arch support.

Was so excited at the comfort of this hiking boot - right out of the box, as advertised, the boots felt wonderful. Unfortunately, after wearing only a few times, discovered that the left boot is not at all waterproof. Sock soaking wet from only walking through wet grass. Very disappointed and will be following up with the company. Would have given 5 starts except that I wanted, and paid for, waterproof boots.

I wore these boots along with the hiking socks on a 8 mile trial I frequent. The boots had great grip but the insoles weren't comfortable for my feet. Sad these didn't work out and unfortunately stuck with them.

At first I was really excited about these boots; they had great traction, super comfortable, breathed great. I unfortunately didn't test them before taking them on a backpacking trip. I couldn't even step in any small puddles or damp ground on the rest on the trip without full on soaking through to my socks, which was super disappointing.

I was so very excited when the package arrived today. I'm a 9.5 normally but bought a 10 thinking it would be fine. My toes touch the top in a most uncomfortable way and the arch support is too far back on the foot. I have bought Merrells many times in the past but in person and thought I knew what to expect when it comes to fit and buying online during a pandemic.
The color on the website is redder than the ugly mauve ish color that arrived. I was torn between the red and the orange, I should have went with the orange or bungie. Either way, I now have to deal with really old Merrels with worn-out soles and hope I can return these for a larger size. Since they do not have half sizes I'm afraid the 11's might be too big.

I've had these boots for 4 months. They are true to size and comfortable. I put them on today and they broke. The loop for the shoe string broke off. There is no opening to out the string thru. Also walked in high wet grass. My socks are wet on the top of my foot as the shoe got wet on the mesh.
I will send my pictures in. They aren't even worn down, so still like new.
Very disappointing. I was going to order another color, now I have 2nd thoughts.

These were recommended to me for their wide toe box. I bought a half size up to have room for my toes, socks, and a little foot swelling when hiking for a full day. But the toe box still wasn't wide enough for my toes to really move free and sit flat, and (probably because I went up a half size) the arch seemed to hit in the wrong place. They seem to have a higher heel than my other boots, and that was instantly uncomfortable for me, so I won't be risking a hike with these.

My last Merrell hiking boots were great for my wide toes, and I hoped that this product would approximate that one, but was disappointed. Merrell seems to have gone narrow! I will have to search out a new brand.

I bought these boots to hike the high peaks in the Adirondacks (New York). The terrain can be anywhere from rock slides, roots, wet/muddy, to a regular path. Based on product description, I thought that they would be perfect. I have to say, I am very dissatisfied with this pair of boots. The only good thing I can say is they are definitely waterproof. I have trekked through an entire mud season with them and my feet stay dry. But, I have also ended up down on the ground more times than I can count. I am very unhappy with the traction on the bottom of them. I have been vertical on rock walls and felt my feet slipping. I have had to navigate over wet logs through mud and have slipped directly off them. I would not recommend this boot for anything other than easy walking.

After wearing a pair of these to teach in and being satisfied with their fit and comfort, I bought a new pair to wear on a birding expedition in Shetland. After fewer than twenty steps through wet grass on my first morning out, water soaked through both of the brand new boots as if they weren't even there, and I was stuck squishing around in cold, wet boots for two weeks. Needless to say, I was very unhappy and disappointed in the boots. If you get these boots for hiking, they must be treated heavily with waterproofing compound before wearing, or you'll wind up miserable like I did.

I've been on the hunt for the 'perfect' walking boot - for hiking in not too rough of terrain, not mountain climbing. I need good arch support to combat both plantar fasciitis and metatarsalgia (opposite feet). Also need plenty of room in the toe box.
I own other Merrell walking shoes/sandals - and find some are great fit and some not. This model did not feel comfortable to me. It was a little too roomy, even in Smartwool hiking socks. The toe box is so wide it looks awkward. The boot is heavier than expected and the ankle was not as supportive as I was looking for.
I had to return these. But I DID finally find the perfect hiking boot for me!
