I have the same boot in the Vent style, which fit perfectly and were incredibly comfortable right out of the box. I bought the same size and width in waterproof and they were far too tight and uncomfortable. Really disappointing

Not waterproof!! Could be considered "waterproof" if you're getting lightly splashed but definitely didn't hold up as you'd expect them to on a serious trek.

I've had my fair share of hiking in these boots, but I'd only recommend wearing them in dry conditions. The waterproofing and traction are noticeably diminished in rain, snow, steep conditions, after creek crossings. Water absorbs into my boots, getting my socks wet and I've slipped on wet rocky terrain a number of times while hiking and backpacking. As an all weather hiker, my Moabs have been surprisingly disappointing in performance.

These boots are very comfortable, but they are not waterproof as advertised. My feet get soaked if I step in a puddle or if water flows over the toes.

These were my first pair of Merrell's and I was impressed by how comfortable they were from the first time I put them on. Sadly I found out they were definitely not waterproof when it started to rain mid-hike. I'd call them water resistant at a stretch. Until I ended up finding that my shoe had split where the toe meets the sole after ending up with one dry foot and one completely soaked foot in light rain. No other damage, just a clean split between the different sections of the boot. Now I wear them to work in a warehouse where thankfully they keep my feet pain free after 12 hour days.

As was the case with Warren from Pine Plains, NY, I had these boots for less than two years and also experienced a separation between sole and shoe. At the time, I was hiking in Patagonia, and hiked the rest of the trip with a cold, wet, foot!!! I bought the boots because they were comfortable and because I had worn them happily in the past, but sadly, I would not buy them again.

The Moab boot is very comfortable. However, the sole began to separate from the upper part of the boot within 2 years and thus it is no longer waterproof. The most disappointing thing is that I sent Merrell an email complaining about the problem and asked how they would like to deal with it, and they never even bothered to respond. I would have expected better customer relations from them and that they would stand behind their products. Very disappointing.

Not comfortable for hiking at all. No arch support, no heel support. Not much ankle support either as it is loose at the ankle and no way to tighten it. I will try after using some inserts to increase comfort . I don't recommend this product

There is a very ill placed seam on the heel that makes it impossible to wear these boots. I don't know if the pair I got were poorly made, it only affects the left heel. I took two weeks off the shoe and added a blister pad on the seam and I still can't wear the left boot.

My husband has a pair of these and loves his, so I bought a pair. When I put them on, the back of the shoe cuts into the back of my ankle and hurts with every step. I'm so disappointed, I really wanted these to work. :( And now, because I wore them for a few hours, I can't return them.

Returned. I needed an 11.5 in women's. This didn't work. Went with Columbia women's 12s.

Made a horrible squeaking/squelching noise when walking :(. Not what I want to hear when hiking! Unfortunate :(
I'd also recommend:
Bought Keen hiking boots instead - no noises!

I'm really disappointed in these shoes. I have another pair of merrell's that are similar and they were my favorite outdoor shoes. They broke so I bought these to replace them but there's a hard peice of plastic or stitching in the heel area and it gave me blisters. I'm not sure if it was just the pair I got or if it's how they were designed. Hopefully I can return them and get a different pair.

This is my third pair of this shoe. The size is all wonky, I always get a size 8 and now I'm apparently a 7.5. Comfort is not there. Will be returning.

I loved these boots at first except - it rained! I stepped in very shallow puddles and my feet got soaked, all the way up to the top of the boot. Maybe there is something wrong with the pair I got, but it says WATERPROOF right on the boot. Lucky for me it was just a day hike because with all that cushioning I don't know how I'd get them dry on a multi-day hike.

Insoles have no arch support so they need to be replaced with something else I find them to be very hot and they are just not comfortable for long hikes - I've tried them three times and I will not be wearing them again

The wrong color was shipped. I ordered 2 pairs of different colors. But i got 2 of the same color. Returning them is a bigger hassle because of the situation than just keeping 2 same shoe sets. Remind me not to get too complicated with Zappos in the future. Up until now i've had pretty good success. But this was a major letdown. I'd give this order a zero if i could.

My shoes were delivered in a generic brown box instead of the Merrell box. They were shipped in a plastic bag without padding or a packing slip. The laces were loose and untied. I wonder if I received an imitation instead of a genuine Merrell product, or possibly I received a return from another customer.

I've had this pair of boots for about 2.5 years now, but didn't use them for probably the first six months or so because it was the end of the season in Ohio. They were super comfy and I recommended them to anyone that asked at first, but I would not recommend again. With light to moderate usage, these didn't hold up. I backpack for a hobby - nothing crazy long or strenuous in my opinion, and my boyfriend's cheap big-box-store boots are holding up better than these. Very comfy at first, but weren't actually waterproof (I'm not even talking about submerging my whole foot in water). I thought maybe I had ordered the wrong thing by accident and was just going to upgrade next time, but I looked back at my order confirmation, and they are, in fact, supposed to be waterproof. Very quickly started getting blisters and after about a year and a half or so of ownership and, again, light usage, the heel had lost the padding so much so that it's digging in and very uncomfortable. As of last week, I noticed the rubber sole was peeling off on the instep of one boot. Again, while it's been some time since I purchased these, they were not heavily worn, and for the price and research I did, I would have expected much longer use from them. As a side note, the laces also tend to slip out of a knot. Easy enough to replace, but shouldn't be necessary. Maybe materials have changed since I purchased, but I thought a long term opinion could be useful to someone.
