i love these boots. i now have two pair, one ten years old and one new. the only thing i would change is the coloring. i chose the granite with light blue details...i would leave them all grey without any trim color. they are comfortable, light weight and sturdy. a great product.I walked all over England in them with no foot discomfort...at 56 and then at 66

I just initiated these boots by hiking in Yosemite National Park for 4 days. The boots feel terrific on the trails -- thick and strong enough for any rocky paths, but also lightweight. My only complaint is that they ran a bit small. I have to wear thin socks with them. Wish I had ordered a half size larger than my usual running shoe. I guess it's too late to exchange them now that I've worn them on the trails.

My size is 10 W and this shoe was true to fit even with thicker socks. Ankles felt securely supported and plenty of room in the toe area. The sole griped very well which is important to me for walking over slick rocks and Creek beds. I went with the nonmid version because I don't think I need the mid ankle height with the shoe feeling so stable.

I returned a size 8.5 M because they we a little too short and a little too tight across the toe box and ordered a 9 W. They were too big. I have neuromas in both feet and need a wide toes box, but my feet are pretty thin and boney, with a narrow heel and very high arches. Needless to say, it's difficult to find shoes that fit well, but thanks to Zappos, it's like having a shoe store in your living room.

I've had these for about 8 months now and I absolutely love them. I actually bought them for city trekking - I was going to Scotland in the winter and wanted something that could handle walking around Edinburgh (a very hilly city in a rather wet country) from morning til midnight. These have absolutely done the job, and are my go-to's for long days on my feet. They're probably the most comfortable shoes I own. My only complaint is on the waterproofing. They're excellent in regular rain, however I was recently wearing them when I was caught in a total deluge. My feet got soaked. I felt they were perhaps more water *resistant* instead of *waterproof*, but that might be a bit overly harsh since they're generally so good in normal rain. All in all, excellent boots, and I highly recommend them.

I love the way these boots look though that wasn't my main concern. I put these on right out of the box and wore them to cook in all day and grocery shop. They felt very lightweight and comfortable. I tried them out on a hike on a not so well worn path in the mountains. They kept my feet dry though I did not cross any rivers in them. They were sturdy and supportive though I have to admit I preferred hiking in my tennis shoes better. I will definitely keep these and use them again. I ordered a half size larger....I'm not sure if that was the right thing to do but I'm wearing thick socks with them and I have to be able to move my toes. For Fall and Winter, I would definitely wear these over my tennis shoes. Maybe it's just that it's so hot and super thick socks and boots were even hotter. But I would definitely recommend these boots. My first pair of hiking boots and I never slipped or fell.....obviously a novice hiker. Oh, and they stayed clean even in the mud. So really like that!

I have a small foot. Always hard to fit - but in a specialty area - ski boots-hiking boots, It a real problem to get the fit right. Yes I have my own orthotics for this boot. It fits really well, true to size. The 5.5 a tad small, the 6, fine. Wore hiking on the first day - no sore spots, amazingly. Not as structured as the Vasque - but Vasque wasn't available in my size and width (and this Merrell is 1/2 the price). I'm pleased.

I have been buying Merrell hiking boots forever. I have always liked them. They are great shoes if you have problems with your feet. and inserts fit well. The only problem I've ever had is sometimes the laces are to short.

I am always a straight 9 1/2 but had to exchange them for a 10 because the toes pinched. However, the 10 was perfect. The ankle support and comfort was great. I love the way they look. I called early in the evening to see how I could exchanged the size and, by noon the next day, not only had they picked up my small ones but delivered the larger size. I could not believe how quick and easy it was.

I have a large and wide feet and have a hard time finding shoes to fit. I purchased these boots in the wide width and a half size larger and they fit great with a medium weight pair of wool hiking socks. The boots are flexible but yet supportive for hiking and required minimal break in. Not only do they fit well and are comfortable, but they are also stylish for a hiking boot. Thank you Merrill for making these in a wide width!

I didn't have to break in these boots at all--they felt comfortable on my feet as soon as I first put them on. I took them on a hiking and trail work trip in VA and they held up really well. They stayed dry for the most part, but definitely weren't completely waterproof and got a bit soggy along with my socks and toes after a full day outdoors.

I have two other Merrell hiking boots and this is my first purchase of a waterproof pair. I've already hiked in wet conditions and they perform well.

I ordered the Merrell Moab regular Mid's, only to realize I needed to have the waterproof style for the winters here. I don't hike on crazy terrain, but we do a lot of outdoor activities in the winter here, and needed something that could handle the outdoor winter market, walking the dog, and just braving the winter. I have to start by saying that I have big feet. I wear a Women's 11 Wide, sometimes WW depending on the brand. These are almost too small for me, so if you're buying these, heed the other reviews and go up a size, unless you like them so snug you can't wiggle a toe. I'm not able to wear thick winter socks with these - I have to wear thin, cotton socks, but these hikers do the job. They keep my feet warm, dry, and the arch support is almost amazing. I have Plantar Fasciitis and heel spurs on both heels, but somehow, the arch and the heel cushion in these is perfect for me. I was able to wear them right out of the box, and I didn't have to use my orthotics. I got them in grey, and ordered another pair in the low-cut version, also in waterproof. I wish the colors were a little more feminine, and I wish they were just a tad bigger (or carry them in 11.5!). Still, overall, I love these shoes, and I'm thankful I found them.
I'd also recommend:

Using for hiking primarily for a trip to Matchu Picchu. Definitely fit well. A bit on the heavy side but I'm not used to hiking boots, I'm used to running shoes. Comfortable but stiff. Waterproof. Warm, I've been hiking in the snow and they do very well. I wear inserts made from Roadrunner Sports in them. They still fit very well.

Foot surgery 2 months ago. Went on my first hike since surgery. Wore the boots right out of the box. 5 mile hike. Absolutely no problems. Traction, comfort, fit all perfect! Couldn't be happier!

I never imagined that someone with feet as wide as mine could find such a beautifully constructed and comfortable hiking boots as these Merrell!! NOTE: There is a bug in this review program that will not allow me to give this product a 5th star.

I have both WP and Vent versions, Wide. The most comfortable boots ever for me! When I tested one boot in the lake (below the ankle) for 2 minutes, the other one out of water, M Select DRY membrane let water absorb and penetrate inside evenly, in 15-20 minutes, slowly but surely, my sock and boot inside became a little wet (another one still dry). Other than that - great boots, just don't cross streams.

I walked El Camino de Santiago in another brand of hiking boots and though I was fitted by an "expert" at a well-known hiking store, the boots were not right for a long hike in the heat when my feet swelled. I was in pain for weeks. Everyone on the hike who wore Merrells glided through. I bought Moabs when I returned and love the fit and comfort; hiked in Sedona - it was great. I highly recommend.

I liked this boot but sadly there wasn't nearly enough arch support or stability for me. I need a super stable supportive shoe.

Out of the box fit is no lie! A bit pricey, but the comfort and support make it so worth it for me. I sprayed it with water and it beaded up. Fluffy snow will probably not affect them at all. the true test of the waterproof claim will be wet slush, which is typical of my region. I have other boots so it's no big deal if they aren't 100% dry, but I wanted comfort, warmth and stability so I could walk my dog in any weather through the woods. I think I got exactly what I needed. I may come back and change my rating to 5 instead of 4 stars. We shall see how they fare this winter. thank you for making a quality winter walking shoe.

These were a Christmas present for my wife. She liked everything about them except, unfortunately, the fit. They were too small for her. She has a hard time finding large size women's shoes. I was excited to find these in size 12 but they ended up not working for her. We were both disappointed. She really liked the shoes. I would recommend these without reservation as long as they have your size.

You can hit the ground running with these boots. My first time wearing them was helping a friend move. 8 hours up and down stairs to moving truck in the rain all day, moving every piece of heavy furniture/appliance you can think of. My feet were dry and comfortable; there's no "wearing in" period and they fit exactly as expected. I'm a size 8 and there was no guess about which size to take. They're light and very easy to move in. I unfortunately haven't had a chance to do actual hiking in them, but I can say for sure wearing them literally an entire day, my feet were still happy in the end! HIGHLY recommend these ones.

Looked great but I decided to keep a different model (Keen Terradora) because they are lighter and fit me better. I think it depends on your foot. I wear other Merrell's everyday at work and love them. Thanks!

These boots fit well and I love that they are available in wide widths...thank you Merrell. I compared them to the Siren Sport and they definitely offer more support, which I was looking for. They are well made. I ordered a half size up and they just fit, with not as much room as I was expecting, so maybe they run a little small. Width was great to accommodate my bunions. However, I have decided that I would like a boot that is a little taller and stiffer and it appears Merrell doesn't offer a boot like this. I returned these.

I've always favored the Moab for hiking. They're super cushioned but incredibly supportive. My feet have never hurt, even after 18 mile days on the trail, they stand the test of time and I'm able to beat the crap out of them. The waterproofing also holds up incredibly well. The two differences I've noticed in the Moab 2 opposed to the original is that the arch is slightly less aggressive (which I'm fine with) but there seems to be less room in the toe box, which is really the only thing I wish were different.
