I use for walking around town (ottawa). really like it but at the risk of repeating myself the zipper is not easy to open and close. I tried on a Luhta coat and almost bought it instead because of the ease of zipper use. If the Finns can do it surely North Face can too.

I'm 5'6" and a curvy 155 lbs with a bust and the large fits well. I ought the coat for bus and train commuting to New York City. The coat is lightweight and long which is perfect because I often wear dresses with tights. The coat is very warm in 30-40 F weatHer but I feel that when the temperature really dips , I need another layer under the coat . I tried a few other costs from north face and this was the best fit for the warmth. You can also unzip it from the bottom if it's too restrictive for walking which is a plus. You can go crazy reading reviews for these things. My best advice is to order 2 or 3 different styles and send back what does not work .

Had a hard time finding a light down coat. With a hood that comes off. I had an older version of this coat and the zipper broke so time for a new one. I tried for another company but ultimately for the price and quality I went back to North Face.

I was eagerly anticipating the delivery of this coat as winter was upon us in Toronto and I didn't have a suitable coat for the weather. It took a bit longer to arrive than I was expecting (I do a lot of online shopping so have many retailers to compare it to) and when it did, I found it to be a good size too big. I used the sizing tool available on NF's website to determine my size so was a touch disappointed that the size was as far off as it was. I've sent it back and am awaiting my refund so I can reorder the appropriate size.

I just received this coat and I love the beautiful green color! I am still debating over size and may request a medium for comparison before sending one back! I am 5'1" and 110 lbs- the jacket fits well with nothing bulky underneath but in the winter I layer up! Other than that this coat has great features and I'm more than sure it will keep me warm for many winters to come!

I was looking for something that will keep me warm for those cold and snowy winters we get in Boston. I live in city and do a LOT of walking - so i wanted/needed something that i could wear all the time. I ordered the gray because i have a dog that sheeds, black is not a smart color to wear in my house.. I'm very happy that i went with this style and color. I will probably get a jacket like this one for my 2 year old daughter. Pros: lightweight, stylish, easy to move in, easy to clear Cons: I ordered a Small - A little big around the waste,(but I'm ok with that since I'll be wearing layers.) I'm 5'3 weight is 115 If i got an extra small the arm length would've been to small for me, but it probably would have fit my stomach area better, but as i stated above, I'm okay with the extra room. Overall the winter parka is awesome and for me, was worth the money.

Pleased with how quickly I received this item. It's lightweight yet provides warmth. I love the length for long walks in downtown st. Johns, Newfoundland, where the wind picks up and can often find the borders of your clothing.

It's light but very warm, and also feels very stylish. I love that it goes to my knees as well; it feels more professional, especially if I am wearing a skirt with boots. I love the heather navy as well; it's a very unique color. I would definitely buy another North Face products or recommend this parka to a friend. my only concern is it feels a little snug. I normally wear medium and bought a large thinking it would feel roomy enough for winter sweaters, but if feels a bit snug...not uncomfortable, but would have preferred a little more give in the chest area.

I've had my eye on this parka before winter hit. My fianc bought it for me for Valentines Day and I absolutely love it! It is very warm, looks great with any outfit, and the fit is perfect. The only downside to this parka is it frays easily in some places and I've only worn it a handful of times. Other than this one flaw, it is a great parka!

I absolutely love this jacket and I am a repeat customer. I do have a problem with this jacket that may prevent me from buying another. There is a strip of fabric that covers the zipper on the right side of the jacket (when you have it zipped up, you can't really see it) but this fabric experiences really bad pilling on all of these jackets I own. It is very frustrating because they are obviously not cheap, and I take care of them properly. I often wear my jacket unzipped because it is so warm, but when you can see all of the little fuzzballs on it, it looks very tacky and dated.

Nice coat to replace a similar North Face coat that I purchased 5-6 years ago. This one has a different fabric that is a bit "noisy" when rubbed, and I think it looks kinda cheap. When the coat first arrived on my doorstep, I took one look at the fabric and almost returned it. But then I tried it on, and I love how much warmer it is that the last coat. I wear this every day, and I love it. Lots of compliments, too!

This coat replaces a Metropolis parka that I wore for years. This coat has a slimmer, more flattering cut and a bit more length (just at the knee). It's a lower number down fill than my old coat, but has been plenty warm for me this winter. My friend liked it so much that after trying mine, she ordered one for herself. The only negative Is that the hood is skimpy. Should be about 2" longer to provide good protection from snow/rain. This hood does not fully cover my head and tends to blow back easily

The North Face Metropolis Down Parka is ideal for anyone who faces a chilly winter season. When shopping for a winter coat warmth, style, and durability are things to keep in mind. This parka delivers on all of those! The Urban Navy Heather was my choice on color, and I think it is unique, while still being plain enough to match anything I would wear with it. The color options were one thing that initially attracted me to this coat - I liked how there were other color options rather than just black or white. The length of this parka is also ideal because it keeps more of my body warm compared to a short coat, while not being too long to restrict a natural walking movement. The 550 down fill insulation keeps the warmth in without being too heavy or restricting. Previously, I have had The North Face jackets, so I knew they were durable winter coats and would last through a few winter seasons. This parka is filled with small down feathers that keep it light yet sturdy. I have noticed the feathers coming out onto my clothing if I wear dark clothing. They appear to be coming out of the seams of the jacket. However, I have only had the coat for a couple of months, so it may just be because it is still relatively new. Additionally, the zipper sometimes gets stuck when I am trying to close it. The plastic part is already starting to fray, which makes it difficult to zip. Overall, I have really enjoyed this coat so far. It is the warmest winter coat I have owned, and it goes with casual or more formal clothing. I don't foresee myself having to buy a different coat in the next few winter seasons. I would recommend this coat to anyone looking for something versatile and quality for the cold winter months.

I have 4 of these parkas and they are not all made the same. My 5 year old shiny maroon parka is 600 down and no inside lining. Last year I bought both a urban navy heather and a light violet color. While both of these are 550 down, they are super fluffy and are very warm - even warmer than the 600 older coat. They also both have full liners inside that keep wind from passing through the seams at the blocking. Then this year I purchased this coat in black. This new black parka is made just like my older maroon parka with no lining. It also is 550 instead of 600. While I love the design and this parka being lightweight, I can tell it won't be anywhere near as warm as the parkas I purchased last year. I'm not sure why the difference in design between some of these parkas.

I was looking for a warmer jacket for everyday use and this jacket Has been a great upgrade to what I was using before. It's lightweight but keeps me warm in the minnesota cold. Also, I'm a fairly plus size girl and I appreciate that they offer an XXL soze in this jacket. The only things that can be a little frustrating is zipping the jacket up, only because it's longer than a typical jacket, and it can limit your mobility slightly as far as bending and crouching. But besides that I love my new coat!

This is my second coat in this style. I purchased my first one about 5 years ago and had to replace it due to the zipper breaking. I love the color and fit of my new coat but I noticed it is not as thick and the feathers come out. It is still very warm and fashionable, just wish it was the same quality as my first. Hopefully it lasts about 5 years again!

I originally ordered the small because I am size 4. I found the small to be too tight, and sleeves too short. I returned for the medium, and I am now happy with the purchase. For reference I am 5'9 and 140lbs. I preferred the material of the gray heather over the silver metallic, which did not feel as durable. A feature I think is missing is a cuff liner. There is nothing keeping the cold from getting in through the sleeves. Otherwise the coat is warm enough for commuting even in extremely cold temperatures.
