Fit and comfort are outstanding! I am using them for walking, some on light off-trails, some on sidewalks. The most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I am 60+ smaller guy, smaller narrow foot, and the 8 medium is like a 6 B width in men's (which can never be found). I look for unisex styling and these fit. Style-wise, I wish New Balance would lose the huge N, and lose the glow look; I also changed out the white shoe laces for a gray that matches the grey/castlerock shade - tones them down a bit. Overall, if you can stand the styling, they feel solid, substantial, quality materials and construction, and are outstanding.

These will be my new “go to” shoes for the gym and walking. They’re absolute perfect for my size 10W foot! I have TONS of sneakers for fashion, tennis, power walks and the gym. And none of them are as perfect as these. I’m going to order a 2nd pair for another location as soon as I finish this review.

Comfortable sneaker with the wide toe box that I need.

So glad that Zappos carries New Balance sneakers for those of us with a wide foot, as well as, other issues with our feet. These sneakers keep me walking and walking thanks to the arch support and a wide toe box. Had worn New Balance in the past and then switched to Brooks. Brooks changed the style and the toe box did not work for me. So glad to find there was a New Balance shoe that worked for me right out of the box!

THE MOST comfortable sneaker ever for someone with bad feet. Add the right orthotic and you will be walking on air!

Perfect fitting walking shoe!! I wear a women’s 12 narrow. This shoe is the best one made for my feet. I walk long distances everyday. Toe box is roomy. No more toe blisters wearing this shoe. American made, and the quality construction is worth the price. Highly recommend!!!

These are absolutely gorgeous shoes! Right down to the gold touches that set them apart from every day sneakers. I ordered a size 8 as that is what my other New Balance shoes are but they were too long. I had a very good experience in returning them for a 7 1/2. A simple phone call and my new shoes we’re in the mail before I even had the unwanted ones boxed up. I was so surprised that they didn’t expect to receive them back before sending new shoes....or charging me for both pair. These shoes are considerably more expensive than most New Balance shoes, but the quality is evident, from the style, to the support, to the little extra touches. I need a good solid and supportive walking shoe and I finally found it.

These are AWESOME! Well made, comfortable, good support. Chucked my superfeet inside and I'm happy! So long Asics - too bad you don't pay attention to your customers.

BEST SHOE EVER!!! I love the 990 so much I got 2 pairs. I normally wear 11, but get 11 1/2 on these because when I got my first pair at the New Balance store, they custom fit you. I was advised 11 1/2 so have more toe room. Medium width is spot on. The SUPERIOR CONSTRUCTION is well worth the price tag, plus that it's made here in America. I had a torn Achilles tendon that required a superior shoe, and recently had knee surgery. These shoes are MAGIC! All of my pain is GONE when I wear these. These are the MOST IMPORTANT SHOES in my shoe wardrobe. As for some opinions that they are not attractive, I simply disagree, they come in a good variety of colors. And even though these are touted to correct pronation (and I am neutral), you can still get these! The secret is that the extra support starts at the middle of the sole edge, and continues all the way around the heel to the opposite side, midway. I was advised by the New Balance salesperson. So if you are a moderate pronator, or even neutral, these are the shoes for you!!!

I am a 41 year old who walks about 3 miles daily. I require a well-built shoe with thick soles and strong support to keep my feet from their tendency to turn outwards as I walk. A proper stability shoe will never, ever, ever, ever look like the trendy colorful shoes the teenagers wear. Once you are a grown-up, you need to purchase shoes that will make you feel good all day and protect your feet, knees, hips and lower back. I had a pink pair of these New Balance years ago and got well over the mile limit out of them. They held up beautifully and were my favorite pair of shoes. I could walk all day and feel great. I have since purchased many Asics, Brooks and Skechers... but they are simply not as sturdy as these New Balance. I am glad I finally ordered a new pair of New Balance W000v4 in the Grey/Castlerock. They are holding up great in the 100 degrees of Kansas and the hot pavement. My feet, knees and hips all feel aligned and healthy. I like the looks of them and feel sorry for people who are afraid to look a little bit older and mature so they keep buying colorful Nikes and Asics. I prefer to feel great and keep my body in shape with well-built shoes.

Just had knee surgery so I needed a safe lightweight sneaker with support. The fact that the support is strong and lightweight was the most important to me. I’ve always loved New Balance for the toe room and arch support.

This is my third pair of these shoes. I run and hike the trails and all my shoes take a beating. These are SO comfortable and endure what I put them through all year. A bit pricy, but so worth every penny!!!

Wow! I was just giving up on Brooks Ariel and Addiction because they were made with shoddier materials and were cut wayyyy too short. Then I saw the 990 and thought I'd try NB again after drifting away from them. Glad I did. I was getting desperate for a shoe that was long enough at 10.5 N (can't do an 11N because they are too wide) and supportive enough for my overpronation, and also cushioned enough in the forefoot without crowding my toes. The gray/pink combo is actually attractive and beautifully made. These will last. This is the real McCoy! A 5-star all the way. Made in the USA to boot, so worth the money. You get what you pay for.
