These are very supportive, well made, and are comfy. They are a little boxy in design, so if they were a little leaner, they’d look better.

The generous toe room was perfect. My feet need a larger size almost every year. I have been wearing New Balance athletic shoes for over 40 years and have not been disappointed. I really appreciate Zappo's order and return policy allow me to find the correct size.

I had a foot sprain and my doctor sent me to New Balance for a proper fitting shoe that I can wear everyday. It was summertime and I couldn’t wear my cute shoes nor was I able to wear boots in the winter time. I had a 990 from almost 10 years ago and it was ugly. I was pleasantly surprised at the style of the new ones. I can’t wear regular shoes, which kills my style points but I also get to wear sneakers everyday and at work. Yay! The black blends with leggings because there’s not so much white. I wear them everyday to work with my orthotics combined with theirs. I’ve bought other colors for the weekends and Fridays. I highly recommend these for those with foot pain. It’s amazing how the black blends in with black leggings. I’m sure it’s okay with slacks but it’s just not my style. The latest purchase at this website was the pink and I love it. I highly recommend these shoes.

Great shoe but strange sizing. Size 8 felt like 7.5. Wide width felt double wide. Size 8.5 a little too long but manageable. Never had this problem with other NB shoes. But these are very comfortable and not bad looking.

Third pair, I love them! Fit great and support for pronation is perfect.

Great athletic / walking shoe. This is my 2nd order of these shoes in a week. The previous pair felt so good, I decided to order another pair in another color. Now I have a pair in black and gray. Looking forward to wearing them as soon as the weather gets warmer.

This is an update to my review a few days ago with regard to my black and silver New Balance W990v4. I returned the squeaky pair back to Zappos (much to the disappointment of my dogs who thought my new shoes were a squeaky toy for them). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these shoes! I have a size 13W foot. Shoes never look like shoes they look like boats. However, this pair of shoes actually makes my foot look smaller. They are so comfortable. I have taken several walks wearing them and my feet feel wonderful. I am so happy with this pair of shoes. There are many colors to choose from - even in my size. What more can I ask - they feel great and look wonderful! As usual I am a very happy Zappos customer.

Originally, I have been buying these shoes in a medium width but had trouble with them being so loose which felt my whole foot was moving around with every step that I took. I decided to order a narrow width - at first they felt very snug but after awhile they felt so much better. I think I got so used to these shoes feeling big that I didn't know how a good fitting running shoe should feel on my feet. They are very comfortable and plan on using them for walking and for the gym. I highly recommend them!

I disagree with the reviewers who think this shoe is ugly. I think it's kind of pretty, at least in the light green shade. I have terrible tendonitis and am wearing this show indoors only since my doc says I'm no longer allowed to go barefoot. So I can't really speak to its durability as a running shoe. But for my purposes it's comfortable, fits well, and looks good.

One of the holes to put shoelace through was not open but completely cover over with inside of shoe. I had to get a sharp knife to make a hole for shoe lace

They fit perfectly!! Love these for extensive walking. I added a little extra arch support since I have high arches. After trying all kinds of less expensive options, I'm so glad I settled on these. The pink cor is cute too, and looks alot more delicate than the black.

I have worn the 990 for years. In fact it is the only shoe I wear! I am saddened that it is being discontinued. I can not find another New Balance shoe made on the SL1 last. I wear these shoes on the advise of my orthopedist. It is a wonderful shoe.

Would order again!

Great running stability shoes. Also, I bought another pair for a walking vacation. It is a bit stiff but that's what makes the support for your foot. It is not a flimsy sneaker. Very comfortable

Great shoes got them $10 cheaper than New Balance and free delivery!

I've searched a long time for a truly comfortable, supportive running shoe for my 9/9.5 AA tootsies. I finally gave up trying to find cheap shoes and decided to pay what's necessary for a really good shoe. I'm so glad I did. These shoes are comfy and stabilizing right from the start and I love that they are so light weight. I'm very appreciative of Zappos' shipping policies, which allow me to order two sizes, compare, and return the pair I don't want. I live in a kind of shopping mecca, but that doesn't mean I can readily find narrow shoes. Thank goodness for Zappos' convenient online options.

I always can rely on my New Balance 990s: but, this pair came with just one shoelace. Luckily I can transfer the laces from my current pair.
