I have bought Asics for several years. I haven't run for a long time, but walk a lot and just like a good sneaker to wear everywhere. As I have gotten older (late 50's), it makes more of a difference to have a high quality sneaker. Hips, back, etc. I had worn Asics GT-1000's for a couple years and they were fine, but recently ordered a new pair and they seemed to have little cushion or support anymore. My old ones felt better! Returned those (Zappo's is GREAT with returns!) So, I read reviews and ordered these....I have somewhat narrow feet, a bit of a high arch....I am female but prefer the "roominess" of a men's sneaker. Well, I LOVE these! The two words that would describe them best are support and cushion. My feet feel like they are enveloped by a sneaker that is well-constructed and just soooo comfortable. Cushioning from one end to the other (ball of foot / heel). There is my preferred room in the toe area. Very pleased to find these. I would think they would be great for running, as well. I did end up with a half size bigger than I have worn before. Tried both and it was close call! But half size up proved to be more comfortable. Zappo's is wonderful....got them in one day! If you haven't ordered form them before, do it!

I’ve often had problems buying running shoes. I have a wide forefoot, a relatively narrow heal, and a low instep. As a result, a lot of running shoes I’ve had in the past failed to provide a snug, conformable fit. Then I tried the Nimbus 16 and have been hooked since. Like the Nimbus 16 and 17, the 18 not only has a wide toe box that comfortably accommodates my 4E foot, but the entire shoes wraps around my feet perfectly, and they’re very supportive and cushiony. However, I was surprised to hear some write that the 18 is wider than the 17. I just bought the Nimbus 18 in size 14-4E to replace my Nimbus 17, size 14-4E, and when I try the two models on, hold the soles of the two shoes up against each other, or lay the insole of the 18 onto the 17, it is obvious that the 18 is cut narrower. As a 55-year old, 6’ 3” 200-pound trail runner, I like the additional support and traction that the slightly wider sole of the 17 gave me, but the Nimbus 18 is still an excellent shoe, and after a week of walking and running in them, I’ve very satisfied. Finally, the 18 is rather pointy, which isn’t the most stylish when casually wearing them with a pair of shorts, but I’m so pleased with their comfort and performance, I can easily overlook this feature.

Before ordering these shoes I read all of the reviews. Several people said that they were making these shoes smaller now, so to order up a size. I've been wearing a men's size 8 in Asics for many years, and that's what I ordered. It's just too hard to find women's shoes that are wide enough, so I stick with men's. When I got the shoes, the first thing I did was hold them up, sole to sole, against my old size 8 men's Asics. They were exactly the same size, so no, they haven't changed the sizing to be smaller. Then I put them on. They fit well and immediately loved them. They are very comfortable and it's great to find a shoe that has support for supination. Having sprained and twisted ankles in the past too many times because of lack of support, it's great to have shoes that help prevent my ankles from rolling outward. I have some weird issues with my feet, in that my second metatarsal joints sit lower than the first (the big toe metatarsal joint) so instead of the larger joint bearing my weight, the second metatarsal joint bears the weight. This has resulted in all kinds of pain up the chain of bones into my ankles, and at one time I was sure I had a stress fracture. I've had to put small pads under that first metatarsal joints to alleviate the condition. But with the gel under the balls of my feet I don't need any special adaptations. My feet are just happy. I highly recommend these shoes.

I've owned at least 10 pair or Asics and these are the most comfortable I've ever owned. LOVE THEM.

I've run in 14 marathons and I have had a lot of different running shoes. These are the best. Period. I have had 4 or 5 of the Gel- Nimbus 16, 17, and 18 and I love them! They have a lot of cushion for a nice soft but supportive ride. I'm 6'4" and 200 lbs. and support is crucial. The weight of the shoes is not to light, not too heavy. The weight is about average which is just fine. It's the only running shoe that has prevented those cuts that most runners get on their heels. Try a pair!!!

These fit really well and are extremely comfortable. Lots of cushion.

I am really disappointed in the Nimbus 18. The "Silver/Ink/Flash Yellow color is really tough to match. The blue isn't at all royal (except around the laces.) It's not really Navy Blue either. They really don't look very good in person. I prefer the styling of the 16 and 17 much better. They actually fit quite differently than the Nimbus 17 too. They feel significantly wider....and taller, like I felt less stable in them even though the width is so prominent. In a 4E, it feels more like how a New Balance might be cut.

Love these shoes for my wide feet. As comfortable as any shoe I've worn.

First off I've never owned a pair of Asics before, I've always been a Merrell or New Balance guy. My wife talked me into these and I have to say, they are awesome! I've got a bad back and on my feet all day and these help so much with pain. So far very good quality and I would definitely come back to Zappos and buy again!

Good support and quality. I just wish Zappos had the black ones in stock.

I have been wearing the Asics Gel-Nimbus 18 for about two weeks now and very happy with them. I am no longer able to run anyone due to back surgery, but still wear Asics everyday as they are so comfortable. Thanks ZAPPOS

runs a size too small

You can never go wrong with the Gel Nimbus. They are cushy and responsive. They are rigid enough to take you through a sudden rain storm but do not create hot spots from rubbing. Regardless of the shoes that make you run the fastest or have the latest technology, everyone should have a pair of these in their closet... on their feet.

These running shoes are great. They fit well, they are comfortable and true to size. Arch support is sufficient on someone who doesn't have high arch.

These are like heaven. I think I can actually end my review right there because there's nothing left but positive things to say ... like ... the arch support is excellent w/o being intrusive; the laces are long enough to allow me to wear my braces (this may sound minor to most people but it's huge to me); there's NO PRESSURE POINTS due to decorative strips of faux leather being stitched to enhance the appearance. The cloud like footbed is A-MAZING for sure but it also offers firm stability which is lacking in so many other shoes that offer this type of cushioning. Just love this shoe!!!!!!

Very good shoe, 3rd pair I've bought. Only complaint is color options in this style in my size. There is only one option in the wide width. But multiple options in narrow widths. People with wide feet would like some variety.

Asics is my go to running show for cushion band stability. These Nimbus don't disappoint.

Excellent shoe for my son who is a long distance runner. Provides excellent support and is comfortable. Fits true to size, possibly a tad small. He is typically a 12. The 12 was a wee bit small but the 12.5 there was too much movement in the heel so he stuck with the 12. They fit fine just no room to grow. Many runners prefer their shoes a little snug. Personally, I do not but they work great for my son. Loved the variety of color choices. Excellent shoe choice!

8.5 feels tight now at toe and i know my feet will swell so returning before i wear outside. i need a half size larger i believe

Very comfortable with lots of cushioning

These are my go-to running shoes. The comfort is unbeatable; I can easily go the extra mile (or two) in these shoes compared to my cheaper pair of running shoes. Moreover, with this particular model, ASICS has styles that aren't too flashy, and the usual popular flashy styles. The high price might scare some people off, but to me, this is an investment for your feet and your health. Since I wear these shoes almost every day, the invest for near-daily comfort and prevention of running injuries (also attributing to my improving mile times) is easily worth it. Most recommend replacing running shoes after 6 months or so, but I have gone more than a year without troubles or signs of deterioration. Furthermore, many great running shoes fail to accommodate runners with wide feet, so I appreciate the hard-to-find Size 13.5 4E Nimbus 18s. Overall, this is the king of running shoes (at least for my wide feet)

Got this as a gift for my hubby he's a 13 EE on Gel Cumulous. He tried these in 13EE and they fit him great

Awesome shoes! My picky feet LOVE ASICS!

So far so good. I have worn them walking and they are super comfortable. I also just went for a 5 mile run on the weekend and think they are great.
