Good light trail boot with very good support and rock protection, only negative is sole is not very aggressive and rubber compound soft. Sole is wearing fast and I've already used rubber compound to reinforce.

I have several pairs of New Balance shoes all in 10.5 4E size, so that is what I ordered these boots in. When they arrived it was instantly clear my foot wasn't going in the shoe, at least not comfortably. After a painless exchange process for the 11 4E boot I am thrilled with my purchase. The shoes are still snug, but I'm still breaking them in. Outside of that they are extremely comfortable, easy to wear all day, and look good without looking like I'm wearing a huge hiking boot. I haven't had a need/opportunity to test the waterproofness of the boot yet, but I am looking forward to it.

I use the boots for work, they fit comfortably but they fail consistently at where they are stitched together. 3 months is the average life for me wearing them 70 hours a week.

Bought this boot in a narrow like I buy all New Balance, this boot ran small and tight, Never broke in. the soles are slick when on wet smooth surfaces.
But is still water proof after three years.

I am on my fourth pair of these boots. They are extremely comfortable until the footbed starts to develop a lump under my little toe, generally on one of the two boots, but sometimes on both. This lump gradually becomes larger and excruciating and I buy a new pair. Because of multiple foot surgeries, these are the only boots I can wear for work, and it would be great if they could fix this inferior footbed issue! I live in the desert, where shoe bottoms generally warp over time, but this happens well before the shoe should wear out (my current pair is doing it and I've only put a couple hundred miles on them) and over winter as well. Anyway, great boots otherwise.

Summary - these shoes are a real pain to tie.
There are at least three problems with this shoe:
1. The placement of the two sets of hooks is inconvenient in that it is easy to miss the lower hooks when lacing the boot which can double the time and effort necessary to complete the chore.
2. The laces are so short that using double-start and double-loop methods is problematic.
3. The tongue is always getting in the way when using the top set of hooks.
I'd also recommend:
New Balance all the way. Co-Vid has limited the number of available styles.

This boot was no narrower in fit than a regular width boot.

I walk a lot, a bad knee and and some pins in an ankle, so no running, but three to four miles a day with 'mans best friend'. Very comfortable and just the right amount of support for my bad ankle. The only problem is that each of the three pair I've worn there is small section on the inside of the shoe on the left foot, just above my little toe. In this area, only the left foot, there's some rough stitching - and over time it wears holes in my socks and once the hole's through the sock it makes a red sore spot on my toe on long walks. In the last two years I've gone through ten pair of socks.

The fit and comfort was perfect right out of the box and wore them for 5 hours without any issues whatso ever. Went to put them on a second time and the upper lace hook on the right foot boot broke off. So now the boot can't be laced properly to provided correct ankle support. This is to bad because the boots were so comfortable. Unsure at this time whether I would buy again because I'm not sure how long this pair would holdup.

Fit is a little loose. Exterior is more like a dress shoe than outdoor boots. Shows every scuff.

I normally wear a size 12 in either a 5E or 6E depending on the brands. From reading some of the reviews I ended up ordering a 13 6E. When I put them on they felt a little snug so I gave them a few minutes of walking around in the house. After a few minutes I could tell they were too tight on my little toes. I went and got my 11.5 5E old Propet boots that were the best boots I have ever had (but they no longer make and none look as wide as these old boots and I wore the bottoms off) and compared them to the New Balance boots. The lengths were the same even though the New Balance ones were a size and a half larger and the New Balance 6E was not as wide as the Propet 5E. I did like the look of the boots and they seemed well made from what I could tell. Since 6E did not fit and they do not have any wider ones I will be sending them back and try another brand.

well built but hard as a rock to walk on (which i bought them to walk on rocks) hope they loosen up. Slightly disappointed. You might need to buy orthodic inserts (i did) but that hasnt helped.

Seems like a good boot, but I was looking for a low top and this was too bulky and the toe box too wide for my narrow foot.

I've purchased many of these over the last few years. It is one of the few shoes/boots that are available in size 9 x 6E. I walk 5-7 miles daily (out of doors in all kinds of weather on gravel surfaces and asphalt pavement), and when new these boots are very comfortable. I feel they wear out too quickly though as I go through 2 to 3 pairs per year. The tread could be more durable so they don't wear so quickly. They lose water proofness relatively quickly as soon as a crack develops in the upper, usually by the big toe at the first metatarsal to phalange joint. They are consistent in size (in more than 10 pairs, I've only had one that fit differently -- slightly too narrow).

It was labeled as 11.5 x 4E. That's the size I always buy for my running shoes. The boots are way too narrow and tight.

I have a wide foot and I was looking for a hiking shoe that would work for me. My first thought was New Balance that specializes in wide widths. I had great anticipation for this model of hiking shoes but was very disappointed when I tried them on. The hurt my feet just to walk in them. There were several pressure points. My definition of a shoe fitting well is that it feels comfortable right away. This show failed that test for me.

I am a true 6e and the 6e size of this boot is1/2 inch narrower than my other 6e shoes. Very disappointed. I had to return them.

Ordered these as New Balance is usually a safe bet for wide feet shoes. I wear a 10.5 4E. Ordered these in an 11 4E and they were uncomfortably tight. Definitely a 2E width, not a true 4E. They are also a half size small. Returned and ordered a different brand as these are a complete miss in sizing from NB.

After hiking around Denali National Park for four days, I found the toe box to be a bit more tapered than my previous pair of NB. Also the cut of the boot top above the ankle is not comfortable. The front of the boot extends too high, and when I lace both top hooks the shoe strings put too much pressure on the upper instep. I could only lace the first hook to maintain some degree of comfort when hiking, especially when going up relatively steep inclines.

I liked my previous pair of NB hiking boots, but not these.

Strange shape of toe box, too rounded and big toe gets crunched. Top of shoe above heel is not contoured and causes pain along back of leg. I noticed other high top shoes like my hiking books curve down in the middle to put less pressure on the leg.
