The supplied laces are a little too short for this shoe. The laces need to be longer to utilize the ankle post. ( if that's what they are called).

I first purchased a pair the NB1400 in size 11.5 wide, or EE. I have been wearing the EE size for about 2 months now, and although they feel comfortable, they are a quite roomy in the toe box ... perhaps too roomy. So I most recently purchased a second pair if NB 1400, but in the medium, or D size. This size seems to fit me better, and perhaps allows for stretching in time. Overall the shoe/boot seems well-made. It looks great. It's cushiony comfortable but sturdy. I am a big person who moves about in my job with quick stops and starts, and a lot if walking, therefore I am hard on shoes. Most of my work shoes only last me about 4 months, so hopefully the NB will prove differently, thus making the shoe/boot worthy of the relatively high price. Nonetheless, the New Balance return process is great, which I have needed to utilize in a couple of past purchases.

The fit as to width and length were right on the money. I wear a 12 4E in the New Balance sneaker and the same size is also reflected to the tee in their boots! Totally pleased with the boot - feels like you are walking on foam air pads - Very, very comfortable. New Balance is always consistent with their sizes in boots and in sneakers - Finally a shoe you can count on!!!

These shoes are exactly as the customers described. If you wear a regular wide... then get the next wideness up. I love the fit and the comfort. I do not even think about my feet all day long. These shoes are not for people that rely on grip in or around wet cement or ground. These shoes are deadly if looking for grip support in wet situations. I am very hard and rough on shoes. So I am not expecting them to last 6 months. But for the average person that takes care of their shoes and not lookin for grip in water situations. These are perfect and very comfortable. Depending on the arch in your feet. It took my feet about an 1/2 hour to break in. I walk and drive a lot. I deliver and move furniture for a living. So I'm constantly climbing in and out of a truck daily. These shoes is PERFECT. Except for rainy days.

These shoes were great fil for my narrow feet. I have probably purchased at least 10 pairs of various New Balance shoes from brick and mortar New Balance stores over the years. The only problem I have with these shoes is a manufacturing defect that the tongue on the right shoe is shorter than the left shoe. It is easy for the laces to slip over the top of the tongue when walking. Otherwise a very good shoe.

I bought this shoe because it was described like the 928. It falls a bit short of the awesome 928. It might just be this pair of shoes. I will buy them again. NB is the only shoe for me.

Always rely on New Balance for my particular size and width. However, I am a little concerned the leather uppers may become separated from the rubber sides of the hiking boots as occurred with my last pair of this brand after 2 years of use. First time that has ever hapoened with the stitching.

My son has wide feet/ fat feet and it was difficult finding shoes that fit his feet. These fit him perfectly and he says that they are comfortable and easy to get on and off.

Like the design and construction but can't fit in them comfortably. Wear 15-4E and love the fresh foam models, wear almost every day. Was hoping this would be my winter wet weather shoe but tight across the ball of the foot and short in the toe box. Would like to see you start listing again the last # used so I can track the right fit more easily.

I have owned these boots before, and they work very well. The shoe laces are too short, in my opinion, but can be made to work. I purchased them because NB was phasing out the only shoe, besides the most expensive that worked with my many foot problems. In the past these boots have worked well with my feet and I am sure they will now.

I'm happy I placed the order through NB. A customer service rep suggested ordering 1/2 size up which resulted in a great fit. The insulation could be a little better for added warmth, however much better than shoes without thinsulate. Overall, I am quite pleased with the purchase, and would consider another pair when needed.

You cannot buy the 6E width in the UK for love nor money so I bought them blind and had them delivered to my hotel in New York when I was on a trip there. I have huge paddles and the fit was perfect. They are very comfortable to walk long distances in and having been through streams and puddles I can attest to their being fully waterproof (I did rub a little Nikwax in to help that along). I have knocked a star off because the tread does leave a lot to be desired. It could do with being a lot deeper for walking in even mildly slippery conditions such as wet mud or grass. That saying, because of the difficulty I have getting shoes or boots to fit they are now my boot of choice although I'm not sure I'd walk up a mountain in them in the snow.

I need the motion control and the roll bar built in the shoe. Over pronation Is my problem. Bad knees these help. Not real warm, went a half size up need to wear heavier wool sock and toe warmers. I live in the country so between working on the property and fishing in the cold I need these shoes. Black is the only color with insulation ugly for a hiking shoe but I have no choice. On the plus side they fit and help my knees.

These are expensive but well made shoes with mild insulation (fine down to 0F and 4-6" of snow IMO), and for a boot-like shoe, fairly comfortable out of the box. For some reason most boots come with poor padding and arch support. This one isn't bad out of the box, better than most that you'll find, but will still benefit GREATLY from a decent shoe insert. I had to send my first order of these back because the sizing was too small. I've been a 11.5 4E for decades now but New Balance, and other manufacturers, have been doing odd things with their sizing since about 2016 or so and despite claims of making the toe box roomier they've been shrinking it. I have several other New Balance sneakers that I've found fit just fine if I get a half size larger (so a 12 4E) than I really am BUT these boots were still too tight on my toes even with a 12 4E!! So these 12 4E's are more like 11 4E's in terms of fit. And that is without any extra inserts or orthotics, just my socks on. If I added a cushier insert or thick orthotic my foot wouldn't even fit in the shoe at all. So I've re-ordered a new pair but had to go up a full size and a half (no 12.5 4E) to 13 4E!! I think that'll be too big with just socks but I planned on adding a thicker cushion insert anyways so it'll probably work out to be just fine. Kind've irritating this stuff keeps happening though (every other year since 2016 the shoe size is off in a different way!!) and they always blame the customer too if you actually go to the New Balance store to get fitted in person BTW. At least at first. Although the guy did admit my feet were indeed a size 11.5 4E when sized and seemed to do a good job of acting baffled that more recent New Balance shoes' sizing is off. You'll see similar comments from people all over the web on reviews for New Balance shoes since then.

I plan to return this item. I first tried the brown and like the fit, but not the looks of the boot. I don’t like that boot makers put black bumpers on the toes of this style of boot. We’re not out the kicking rocks down the trail, why put those ugly black bumpers on everything. I exchanged the brown for the black. The bumper strip was less obnoxious on the black. Unfortunately, I missed the Note in the Description that explains that the black color is insulated. The insulation changed the fit of the boot and they now feel too tight and uncomfortable. Back they go. I appreciate Zappo’s return policy, but I really want a new pair of walking around boots do the winter season.

Disappointed that your product is not of the past quality. I have been using NB footware for 35? yrs and this is the 1st time that the shoe was not true to size. I have worn 10.5 in your product for that long. The recent purchase of a10.5 1400s had my toe pushed past the stitches. As a rule feet shrink with age. Ireturned and reordered 11s in a wider width. Length is perfect . The toe box is wider than I need but is not uncomfortable.

These boots fit correctly & are very comfortable. I like being able to step in puddles and still have dry feet. They are good looking and perfect for Maine weather. I'm very happy with them.

In my dreams, there exists a perfect (5 star) hiking boot. These come close and at an affordable price. I felt noticeably more stable in these than with my old low cut hiking shoes. I do need to use slightly thicker socks for these 12B's due to having 12A feet, so the advertised width is probably "true". Style? Not much here, but the fit and stability are the priority. Recommended.

Very comfortable. I wear a 12 shoe and boot, but I needed the 13 for this particular boot.
