To and From work with 13" Macbook and drawings/legal pads/folders. Deep enough to fit all. Very happy with this . Could use a waterbottle holder but it has all the other proper specs so I just caribiner one on.

My boyfriend bought me this bag for nursing grad school and I am in love with it. It is extremely stylish and is very sturdy. I have a 2011 13" MacBook Air and the bag protects it very well. I travel light to school, but when I have to take a book to class, It has enough room to accommodate it. I have no complaints about the bag.

This was definitely a purchase I would recommend. It is amazing for around campus and has lots of pockets and protects my laptop. I would encourage getting one.

I use this backpack as my daily commute bag. Never have to worry about setting down on the floor and get it scratch up. The materials are very durable and the straps are comfy. I love how they allow customization on certain parts such as removable of chest straps.
If you get this bag, you're guaranteed to be satisfied.

I carry my 13 inch MacBook Pro between work and home daily. The backpack takes all the weight off my back and protects my laptop. It feels like you have no weight on your back. Very highly recommended.

I cannot comment on this product because I've never seen it. The service and shipping were very good and the recipient loves it. He called it "Life changing".

I commute to work with a motorcycle and needed a light, "waterproof" backpack to protect my documents and laptop. The Spire is perfect for my needs; it is very versatile- I use it for shopping even with my computer in there, it doesn't make you look like a turtle, you can fill it all the way to the top and it still closes. And it is super light! Not sure about wear and tear, only had it for a few weeks. It looks very stylish and fulfills all my needs. Highly recommended.

This is my second Timbuk2 bag, and I haven't been disappointed yet. Truly worth the purchase based on style, space inside the bag.

I had been on the market to purchase a sufficiently well padded backpack to protect a 15 inch Macbook on my daily bike commutes. A pretty thorough survey led me to two options: the Timbuk2 Spire and the Chrome Barrage Cargo. The following are some of my thoughts having tried both backpacks:
Pros for the Timbuk2 Spire over Chrome Barrage:
1. Macbook storage: The sleeve that the backpack sits in is just so well padded. Having cracked a screen on it from an earlier minor fall, I am pretty confident that I won't have to worry about that. The Barrage on the other hand has no padding whatsever. The barrage also lacks a dedicated laptop sleeve, form what I remember, which means that every time you place your bag on the ground, you will feel the 'thunk' on your laptop.
2. Main compartment storage: There are some small pouches in the main compartment of the backpack for pen storage and other odds and ends, which I don't remember seeing in the Barrage (correct me if I am wrong). These could have been better designed, however, as sometimes the pens can spill over and into the main storage area.
3. Quick-access to computer: Don't have to constantly open your backpack to get to your computer which is a huge positive, in my eyes.
4. Perfect size for biking: There is something about how comfortable I feel with this backpack on which I can't say about any of the others. I carry a lot of stuff with me at any time, and the Spire meets my needs. However, the Barrage seemed a heckuva lot bigger and equally comfortable though i didn't put in too many bike hours with it.
5. Hooked closure system: I really like the hooked closure system with multiple height levels to really compress the pack if there isn't much in there. Not a fan of the plastic closure system on the Barrage.
Pros for the Barrage over the Chrome:
1. Water-proof/weatherproof: This thing is coated with tarp or something on the inside and there is absolutely no way anything that you put in there is going to get even damp on the bike ride. If this is a priority for you, get the Barrage. However, if a bicycle is your primary mode of transport (as it is for me), you will need to invest in some serious protection for your laptop/electronic devices if you choose this pack.
2. Prettier/more utilitarian on the outside: This is my personal opinion but I felt like I liked the look of the net on the Chrome. What's also cool is the usage of the net to actually store stuff like helmets, which the Spire lacks. It's also a rollmop, which I can't say is completely true for the Spire.
OVERALL: The purpose of this backpack is to let me get to work on a bike and protect my laptop and maybe carry some groceries on the way home. This pack more than meets those needs and also looks pretty sexy doing it.

Great pack, it's everything I'd hoped for. I had one of their one strap satchels and it was great but as I started carrying more to the office I felt like I needed more even weight distribution. So glad I made the switch to this.

I have only had this bag for about a month, but I immediately fell in love with it and have been using it to tote all of my stuff during my commute every day since then. One thing I love is how this bag manages to simultaneously fit everything, including a 15" mac book, into a streamlined silhouette AND make it feel lighter than it did in my old backpack. I also love the positioning of the outer pockets and how much space each has - you'd never guess from the outside!! The only thing about this bag that I wish I could change is the orientation: both front pockets and the water bottle holder are closest to your right hand when its on your back, which makes them super accessible for most people, but which has made quickly grabbing things stashed in these an awkward exercise for my left-handed self. I'm getting used to it, though!! (maybe getting a left-handed version is already a thing and I missed it?)

Wanted an everyday bag as well as a bag to replace my current travel bag (North Face Borealis) and this bag stacks up nicely. Great material, great styling, Timbuk2 has done it again with this bag. Loving every second of using it. Only complaint I would have is maybe an extra pocket (I love organizational compartments) and thicker shoulder straps. Just being nitpicky but honestly, this bag is as close to perfection as it gets. Kudos Timbuk2!

Not my first time buying this bag. Really love how it needs to be big when I need it and can be compressed when not needed. The compartment is spacious and is useful for gym, school or work. The laptop compartment is adequately protected and the easy access zip for the TSA easy access is useful whether going through airport or just needing to take the laptop out easily. It's also large enough for a short weekend getaway, being able to expand the top to about 25L. Lastly, it's stylish, rugged and practical, suitable for any event.

This backpack is great. I carry a lot of stuff to school with me and it doesn't hurt my back like most do. I wish the inside was a little roomier but all in all I love this pack!!

I commute about 10 miles a day and this bag has been great. I would strongly recommend. I like it much better than my messenger bag. For me it is just the right size it holds my computer, paper files, notebooks, bike gear, air pump, wrenches, lock, knife, chargers, pens, change of clothes, and I still have room to stop for groceries...not a lot of room, but room

I use the bag for university work. It is very comfortable when riding but can get tiring if walking a lot with the bag. I can just easily take this bag to get groceries as take it to school with my laptop and everything else I need.
I very much like the minimalist design of the bag and only having a few big pockets. In other bags it seemed like I was constantly zipping and unzipping pockets in search for things. This bag makes it easy. Also, the water bottle holder is perfect for my taller water bottle.
The only thing I don't like about this bag is it does not conform as much to my back while riding and it is not deep enough. The lack of conforming is by design, I suppose, to help the bag retain its shape after years of use. I have had to cut down on the amount of bulky items I carry with me because the bag is simply not deep enough. If I have more than 2 binders and a laptop, I'm not able to put anything else in the bag.

I bought the Spire for daily work use and business travel. I have a Rogue backpack for personal use and I love it. I decided to get the Spire because it is similar, but has a bigger outer pocket for my passport & document wallet. I love everything about this bag and will say that it is good for a single PC lifestyle. I traveled overseas with 2 laptops and a tablet, along with accessories and all was still good -- just heavy. I wish it was a deep/thick as the Rogue, given its bigger size overall (it is actually thinner). The outside pocket and the top pocket with the side zipper were just right. All in all, I love it.
