I wanted a new walking shoe and my old NB have been discontinued. Why is that always the case with a great shoe? This shoe is very stiff. The upper is synthetic looking and feeling. I love NB, but these were a real disappointment. There is not much arch support or pad in the sole, although the tongue is well padded as is the Achilles area. I went with a Ryka instead.

I have wide feet, not fat feet. Horrible fit from New Balance. There must be at least half an inch of space above my metatarsal. And there is no cushioning. I thought they forgot the insoles, but they were there.

Unable to wear. Not only are they too heavy, they hurt the tops of my feet.

I buy New Balance walking/running shoes because they are one of the few brands that makes a A2 narrow size. These shoes seem to be well made, and offer support, but the heel was far too wide for me--I could just walk out of them. As a result I returned them.

I am a big NB fan. Will only buy their walking shoes. This is the first time I have been so disappointed in a purchase that I wanted to wait until I'd given them a chance to please me more. I bought them specifically for walking in cold weather, as my regular walking shoes are too light and thin. These shoes have hardly any cushion in the foot pad. The shoes themselves are quite stiff, even after breaking them in. If I don't wear socks that cover my ankles a bit the shoes pull down my socks in the back, which may cause blistering. And when I get home, it feels so good to take them off! That is how I know that these shoes will never make me happy. Sorry, New Balance. I usually rave about your product, but this time you have let me down.

These don't seem to be made with the same soft leather anymore. I usually order wide. last years shoe was too small, so this time I ordered x wide...still not good. I see now why double xtra wide is always sold out

Although these walking shoes are plenty wide, they slip in the heel when I put in my orthotic inserts. They also do not have good cushion for a new shoe.

Is this really in the realm of "orthotic" shoes? Sorry, but this has no arch support whatsoever. As soon as I stood up and put weight on the shoes, I could feel the arches sinking. And I'm a featherweight. I can't imagine anyone who weighs a substantial amount and that wears orthotics to be supported at all. Another "test" is to see if the shoe can bend by holding it in your hands and pushing on the ends to shape a "U". Any "orthotic" shoe should NOT be able to be bent...and this one gives, not a lot, but the old model 857...I can't even bend it at the toes. Now for the sizing. I bought a previous New balance shoe in the same size and the fit is extremely different. My toes are hitting the end and the top of this shoe. I have room to move my toes in the old 857 model....that I can no longer find. If these are any example of the type of "orthotic" shoes that are available any more...How frustrating. You can barely find any shoes that have the TPU post and rollbar and a true, solid, orthotic bottom to give real support. New Balance is the only brand I can find a good 11 Narrow. I'm hoping to find some good alternate suggestions in other reviews.

But no more! I have rheumatoid arthritis and hard to fit feet. I have been buying New Balance size 8, 2E wide walking shoes for over a decade. But when I ordered a new pair, of size 8, 2E wide, they were, for the first time ever, too narrow. I then tried the 4E, size 8. These were too wide in the heel but still tight in the toe box. I also went through the same experience with your 577 model, except they do NOT come in 4E, so I re-ordered them in an 8-1/2. These were far too big. I am so extremely disappointed. What did you do? I have owned at least a 1/2 dozen pair of these shoes. I am currently wearing size 8 2E New Balance shoes, so please do not tell me my feet have changed. But for some inextricable reason your shoes no longer fit. I hope you can fix this!

I am a long time buyer of New Balance women's walking shoe, specifically the 928. That version had been changed so much that I won't but it anymore that's why I tried the 813. Tried two different sizes only to be disappointed each time. There is absolutely no cushioning in the footbed making this a very "hard" shoe. Returned both pairs. Such a shame that Mew Balance has gone down hill since the days when the shoe was made in America. Very disappointed.

I have bought New Balance for many years and never had any problems. However this last pair is uncomfortable. As I walk I feel the long line that runs under the sole and it makes me walk a different way to the point of hurting my toe. I have tried to put different soles -thick- and I still feel the bottom of the sneaker through it. The shoe is also kind of strange........wide enough for the toe and the front of the foot........but then becomes very narrow and not very high under the laces.

I love the shoe but the rollbar seams starts to gradually break apart and peel off. I am a security guard so I need a comfortable supportive shoe. I have Osteoarthritis, Degenerative Joint Disease and gout so I need a supportive shoe that lasts for years without tearing up.

Need a star below the 1. HORRIBLE shoe, no flexibility at all in the sole. More comfortable strapping two boards to your feet. Wore them twice so if anyone wants them, pay the shipping and they are yours. BAD shoes.

The stitching below the laces was too tight to allow me to wear my orthotics. Although I order a half size up and have been wearing new balance for 10 years, these did not fit.

The defective soles on my black NB walking tennis shoes fell apart and NB didn't stand behind them, only giving a piddly amount for me to purchase more! My husband and I bought our black NB shoes at the same time; his are fine and he wore them more often than I wore mine. I won't even put one star (if possible).

I’ve had these shoes before and always liked them, but this time was different. After a 2 mile walk my foot was bleeding. I figured they needed to be broken in. I finally had to stop wearing them altogether after another two weeks as they were just too painful to continue. I’ll probably donate them.

I'm a letter carrier that logs 12+ miles a day 5-6 days a week. My feet take a beating and these sneakers just add to the foot pain. I don't recommend these sneakers If you're walking any significant distance.

If you lace to the top of the shoe, the tongue is too short and lets the lace cut into your foot. I have a narrow foot and have used NB for over 30 years and the more they improve their shoes the more they ruin them.

These are not comfortable. Very poor arch support. Sides rub on my ankles. Tries DrScholl's sport insoles. Not much better. I'm surprised because I have worn NB for years. The style I wore was discontinued. These had great reviews. Full price. Not discount. Going to try other brands.

New Balance has changed its fit. i’ve tried two different styles and both are completely different from my original shoes. My feet haven’t changed because I wear the same size in other brands.

I was glad to see some shoes in 11 1/2 ! Very hard to find. But..this shoe is not as roomy as my previous NB size 11. The length is very skimpy , and my toes do rub ! Hope they will stretch out a bit. Please make sizes true !!

I already have 2 pairs of 813s. The new ones I have are so narrow and tight. I am a diabetic 2 and cannot afford sores or injuries to my feet. When my new 813s arrived, I could tell by looking at them that they were very narrow. I suspect that the overseas manufacture skimped the sizes of the patterns. The only improvement is that the straps were longer and wider. Would like to return and get the 813s with showstrings.
