After searching several websites I chose the New Balance 813 thinking it would be the best choice for my needs. Zappo's service is so great they were delivered the following day. The quality of materials and construction appeared to be fine so I tried them on, along with my orthotic inserts. Walking on carpeted hallways twice on succeeding days I had to admit I was disappointed, I did not feel stable in this shoe so, much as I liked them, I had to return them to select something else. But, true to their promise, Zappo's provided a downloadable return label with no arguments and that's why I love this store!

I tried these shoes walking on carpeted hallways twice and, although I like the style, I just don't feel stable in them. I admit I have a difficult time finding comfortable shoes due to problem feet but I cannot risk falling down so I must return these. I am so grateful for your generous service of free returns but right now I am not ready to do an exchange.

The first pair you sent were mis -sized and returned. t-The second you sent,,same size as the first pair, fit perfectly. That's the first time I've ever received shoes from you that were not the right size. Thanks, for making it so easy for me to return the first pair.

It’s great to have a shoe that’s wide enough for my foot and plenty of room in the toe box, maybe even a bit much for my low volume foot. But more is better than less. The insole could be a bit cushier and the arch a little higher to make this a 5 Star shoe but I’m happy with it. And major kudos to Zappos - it took me 4 pairs to get the right size! Now I can order another pair in black and get it right the first time.

I like the soft feel of these shoes and the fact that there is a removable insert. This 7 1/2 Med shoes does see to run rather wide even with an insert wide. I think that I really need a narrow. My new inserts may work with a 7 1/2 narrow shoe.

Toe box is huge and heel slips. Width/Length is about right but fit is uncomfortable and shoe is ugly. I normally wear size 10 1/2 or 11 shoe. Had to return, even though I badly need this type of shoe. Fit is not the same as the 812 style I have been wearing.

A little too heavy

It's been a few years since I have tried New Balance and I have always worn a 9.5. The 9.5 I ordered was too short and the toe box was too narrow. I had to send them back.

This is a well cushioned walking shoe. It runs true to size.

Good replacement for the 577 model, excellent padding around the collar but somewhat lacking in food padding which was easily solved by adding foam inserts under the shoe bed.
