My podiatrist recommended New Balance shoes and I have been wearing them almost exclusively since I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis a few years ago. I am somewhat limited in styles since I require both Rollbar and removable inserts for my orthotics. The 813 was a pleasant surprise both for price and fit. I wear a size 8D and this shoe fits true to size for me. Although it has slightly less arch support than other styles that I wear, overall it is the softest and most comfortable shoe of any that I own. There is only one reason I could not give it a 5 star rating. If I lace the shoe all the way to the very top hole, it hits my ankle and the pressure is uncomfortable. Otherwise this is the best New Balance shoe I've bought so far.

fit just right, good toe box

For a person with wide, flat feet, the foot bed is amazing. I don't like heavy arch support so these are perfect for my flatter feet. However, I had to return these because the heel was too shallow and my foot would slip with each step.

I'm a young 62, or so I tell myself - my feet disagree. After sustaining ligament injuries in the mid foot area 5 yrs ago, my podiatrist said I should be wearing NB 928 Walkers and I've worn nothing else since. Let's hear it for ''Rollbar Technology''! Supportive? Check. Comfortable? Check. Hideous? Check there, too. They ain't pretty but are the only shoe I've been able to wear w/out feeling searing arch pain, so I wear them with jeans or yoga pants every day. I am 5'10'' and when it comes to shoe size, I'm the Bride of Sasquatch. I grabbed these babies for 2 reasons: 1) Size 12 was actually in Stock (my double-digit sisters out there will know that feeling of surprise and delight upon seeing the words ''only 1 in stock'' gleaming at you in red letters), and 2) they were only $79.95. That's half the price of the NB 928 which, no matter where you look, you cannot find for less than $139.95. The WW813 is visually rounder in the toe box and it says ''Rollbar'' across the inner sole. Happy to be wearing what I think is the exact same shoe for half the cost. If you need support in the mid foot area and don't mind clumping around like Boris Karloff or ''Herman Munster'', your feet will love you for buying these. But for the love of God, New Balance, can't you even *try* to make these more attractive looking?
