Snappy looking, but lacks internal compartments (the inside is all one big cavern, aside from a flimsy mesh-like pocket. Even though the bag is very large and has plenty of room for pockets on the outside, there is only ONE zip pocket on the outside, so I'd either have to put my keys in with my phone (scratch city) or throw my keys in the inner cavern and fish later. Bag sits high on your back, which is good for carrying, but results in a 2 inch protuberance about shoulders when carrying (very tall bag) which can look silly. Bag does NOT sit. IT has a longer back panel than front panel, and a stiff bottom cording on that back panel, so no matter what I put inside the bag, it flopped forward. Frustrating. I found the side pockets and inner pocket much more flimsy than previous generations. I have several older packs and they have thicker, higher quality material. I am still really not liking this new mesh material Timbuk2 is using on the back and straps of their newer backpacks. Looks cheap and tacky. Where are all the cool Timbuk2 pockets? Where is the organization? Why, oh why are you so tall? I miss the old bags.

Having been a STRICT Chrome Bags user for the past 6 or so years, I had a difficult time even THINKING about switching brands. That said, as I was looking at the Timbuk2 products on their site, I stumbled across the Rogue. Based on the description, it was almost everything I was looking for in a bag, carried the same lifetime warranty, and, let's be honest, was nowhere near as expensive. Upon receipt, the first thing I noticed was the lack of over-abundant long straps: one of my biggest gripes about Chrome bags is that there are not only too many straps, but, regardless of what I have in my bag, the straps are ALWAYS between 6-12" too long, and I can't stand that. The Rogue was visibly missing these inconveniences, so I was immediately intrigued. Of course, the true test of any bag is to pack it full and try it out. I transferred all of my daily contents (iPad, iPod, cassette tape Walkman, phone, headphones, cycling tools, jersey, jacket, hoodie, neoprene mask, beanie, gloves, arm- and leg-warmers, chain and u-locks, pens/markers, sewing kit, and water bottle) into the Rogue, and, just to test it out, I tossed my laptop in, as well. Not only did everything fit PERFECTLY (and conveniently, I might add), but the bag adjusted quickly and easily to my "comfort zone", which is sometimes difficult due to lower back issues. Once the back was packed, I took off for a short 10-mile ride, and it was easily one of the most comfortable rides I've ever had with a backpack on. The couple of times I stopped, my u-lock was EASILY accessible, as was my phone, and I never even had to actually take the bag off in order to access these items. The bottom line is this: from what I can tell, in the world of cycling (especially messenger-type cycling), there are two types of people: Chrome people and Timbuk2 people. I WAS a Chrome person, but the ease of ordering, service, and the product itself have converted me to a Timbuk2 person - I'll never NEED to purchase another bag, but, simply because I like variety, the next bag I DO purchase will be from Timbuk2. Excellent work, folks, and thank you for such a fine product!

The best features of this backpack are the waterproofing (currently surviving Autumn in Seattle) and the back support it provides. It has a stiffer back, which is great for me as a student - I'm often carrying heavy loads and the backpack is doing work keeping me back straight. I also like the lifted laptop pocket - it keeps my laptop well off the ground if I need to set the bag down for a second and overall provides better protection for my laptop. The only con I have for the bag is that the straps are not super wide and they're pretty stiff so sometimes they're a little uncomfortable, but it is starting to adjust to my shoulder shape so I think it will be great! The straps might be a little too close together and stiff for someone with a super broad back and thicker neck.

Disappointed quality, this 4 bag from Timbuk2 and I first time fascinated by the quality of tailoring, before there are 2 instant messengers. Stick out the skin, the curve seams - sorry this is not the bag Timbuk2 c which I am familiar in 2014

This has been my work bag and carry-on for almost a year. I travel between US and Asia, and although the double clips plus velcro flip-top holds stuff securely, the lack of a quick access zipper for your laptop means you have to undo everything to get the laptop out - which is troublesome when going through airport security. I kind of hate the mesh laptop compartment in general. When the bag is loaded, getting the laptop down in there is a challenge, and the usb dongle for my mouse catches on the mesh on a regular basis. A dedicated and properly padded laptop compartment would have made this perfect for my needs. Construction, capacity and exterior design are great for this price point, but it suffers in functionality. The Spire might have been the better choice, and I'll probably get one of those next time I'm in the Bay area.

I've had this bag for 6 months now and primarily use it as a work backpack. As graphic designer i have plenty of note pads, pens, erasers, etc. I also carry my wallet, keys and glasses in there. I've got to say... unfortunately this bag just does NOT have enough pockets. I wish there was another large pocket on the inside towards the bottom. Like others have mentioned, the water bottle pocket feels like its on the wrong side. It would be best for a lefty. I'm looking forward to testing this out on a commute bike ride. But for every day use I'm starting to look for other bags.

I bought this backpack because I wanted something that looked professional (but not boring), could fit my work laptop, lunchbox, and books, and have a properly-sized water bottle slot. I also wanted to bike more to work and liked the U-Lock slot! The Rogue exceeded expectations with comfortable shoulder and chest straps, a large capacity, one external zipped pocket and one small internal one. I also like that there is space for me to clip my helmet under the straps, and the velcro closure is handy when in a rush. There are also the clips for more security, which is nice given that my last backpack gave out due to the zipper breaking. I poured some water on the bag as a test and it immediately beaded up and slid off.

Awesome backpack! Specifically bought because it just barely fits my Onewheel Pint with a fender. It's been such a great little bag to carry my board around, I bought a second one! These things are long-lasting, good quality bags!

Brought it for my vacation. Haven't used it as yet. Love its look and sturdiness. This is my 2nd TIMBUK2. My cousin saw my first borrowed/took ( he never returned it) it. The price was nice

I have had the backpack for about 2 weeks and I have no complaints and am very happy with my purchase. I used it today for the first time bike commuting to work and it was much better than my previous backpack. I like that the pack has both velcro and clip straps so that I can easily close it in a casual setting but also able to secure it while biking. Most importantly, I found the bag to be very spacious with one large pocket, though, as a soon to be law student, I do wish it was a little wider and would be willing to sacrifice some height for that. Overall, a pretty minimalist designed backpack, which is my style. I watched a few YouTube video reviews and found the complaints somewhat unfounded. My U-lock hangs below the pack but I do not find it hooking to the seat while I bike. You run the risk of the opening being exposed to rain if you do not tuck it, but this is easy to remember. Most importantly, so far it does seem there is a slight cushion from the ground for the laptop though I do tend to place my backpack leaning forward. Will provide an update hopefully in the fall after starting school.

Not only do I love this bag but I have received SO many compliments on it. It's durable and has the right amount of pouches for everything. The ability to fit my laptop perfectly in the bag as well as a weekend's worth of clothing for travel is all I need and this bag meets that criteria well. Excited to take it hiking and have this bag for a lifetime of adventure. Thank you TIMBUK2.

I commute and travel with this backpack, and it's fantastic. The backpack seems larger on the inside than the outside, and has a nice number of pockets (5, plus 3 pencil slots) It's perfect for me for school and the sternum strap is nice for longer walks and rides. The structured straps and back make it seem lighter than it is, and even the basic top handle is nice. Highly recommend!

I use it as a second, smaller camera bag. It fits everything, is very water-resistant and looks great. I only wish I could buy some dividers/add on pouches.

Please don't judge all of the bags based on this entry level bag. I love it, it's great value for the money and stitching is superb, the size is just right for subway commuting without knocking people down when you turn around. For a student this bag would be perfect and would last a long time. But, you can't beat the quality and craftsmanship that go into a higher model, it's unlike any other pack pack I have seen, if you have to use it everyday to protect your most valuable things why not have a bag that is sturdy and luxury, understated possibly over done.

There are many seams on the bag that has loose strings. It's a great bag and holds all my items. I was off-put by the number of imperfections regarding the loose strings however it isn't that big of a deal. The straps are also wide and comfortable. I attached several photos showing the loose strings. Most of the loose strings aren't in particularly stressed areas except one of them at the bottom of the bag. Overall, this bag is a nice investment especially if you live in a rainy area. One thing to note is that the bottom of the bag is not padded. The material there is still somewhat strong but to prevent any abrasive rubbing (I suspect would cause tears with concrete or some other abrasive material) with the ground I put a thin blanket there for padding.

Bought this bag on a trip to Japan 3 years ago and it is still as good as the day I bought it. I can easily say this is the best quality bag I have ever owned. Nothing has ever gotten wet inside and I have walked for 30 minutes in huge downpours. Weight distribution is great as I constantly have the bag loaded up with stuff including a 15" laptop, documents, jacket, books and more and it barely feels like I have anything on. Even after closing and opening it more or less everyday for 3 years, all velcro is still sticky and all zippers are still flawless. I would buy this bag (or any bag from Timbuk2) again in a heart beat but I don't think I'll ever need to - great product team!
