I must say, Allen Edmonds has done an excellent job with these shoes. They are very comfortable, although like most high level dress shoes there is a good bit less padding than you might be used to in other types of shoes. They contour well to my feet, seem resistant to scuffing, and when treated well they are an excellent accompaniment to my business formal and business casual outfits. I'd highly recommend!

I recently took my Carlyle back to AE at the 44th Street and Madison Avenue (N.Y.C.) location for a resizing. I had originally purchased the 10-D and changed to the 10-E. The salesperson Jorge was quite a personable young man and extremely helpful in facilitating an even exchange for me. I tried the shoes on and they fit perfectly... The size D fit well but seemed a bit long on my foot. I've learned that with AE shoes in order to ensure you get properly sized it's crucial to have your feet measured. The differences in the types of lasts on which the shoes are constructed, will definitely have an impact on fit specifically with respect to length relative to width equaling comfort and a good look.

I love Allen Edmonds products. I have owned many different brands over the years including Bally, Allen Edmonds, Magli, Johnston & Murphy, etc.. and in almost all cases have struggled with these other shoes. Too tight, not wearable for long periods of time, don't last etc. Italian shoes are beautiful but tight fits sometimes make them hard to wear for extended periods.
Allen Edmonds is the only shoe I've found so far for reasonable amount that last, provide comfort, look great over an extended period with proper care and that I trust to last.

These shoes look and feel exceptional. They shine well and are very comfortable even fresh out of the box. Went with walnut burnished calf and the shoes work for dressier and more relaxed clothing.

I have a pair of these in black and I think they are perfect for wearing with black tie or even white tie. I would make one suggestion to Allen Edmonds and that is to consider making them in black patent leather.

The Allen-Edmonds Carlyle is quite simply one of the best fitting and most attractive pairs of shoes I have ever owned. That said, I'm mostly responding to the other reviews of this shoe.
One person says they're replacing the same shoe from 25 years ago. Allen-Edmonds only started making the Carlyle around 2013, so unless you're Doctor Who, I question the accuracy of your comment.
Someone else says that Allen-Edmonds doesn't make the shoe in a wide enough width for him. I suppose that's possible, but the Carlyle comes in widths up to EEE, and, in general, Allen-Edmonds makes shoes in more widths than most manufacturers, so it's not like it's going to be better most anywhere else.
The last person says that the sole at the toe is wearing more quickly than his older pairs of Allen-Edmonds shoes. Well, the Carlyle uses a last that is pointier than most Allen-Edmonds shoes, which is going to create more wear on the toe. If you don't like how pointy shoes wear, don't buy pointy shoes.

I bought a pair of Carlyle oxfords after my beloved Park Avenues were worn completely out. I was immediately impressed, and couldn't be happier. As with all Allen Edmonds shoes, they were a good fit out of the box. They're comfy, yet so sharp that they turn heads when I walk into a room. These shoes are fantastic, and I love wearing them.

From the actual product to customer service, my experience has been nothing short of great.
First time customer that has now become a lifelong one. I don't have a need to go anywhere else to purchase good quality shoes to go along with the suits I occasionally have to wear.
Thank you!!

Like any of my Allen Edmond shoes, it just takes a day to brake them in and then the comfort is amazing.

I bought 4 different colors of Carlyle. Could not decide which color I liked -- loved em all. Beautiful design and looks. I feel great when I wear these shoes. Classic design.

I bought two pairs within that many months, one oxblood and one walnut. I got them in the same size as my Park Avenues, 8 1/2 eee. I can hardly get them on! Once they're on, they are fairly comfortable. I have already worn the oxblood pair several times, hoping they would break in. So far there's not been any difference. I expect to be exchanging the walnut for a size 9 eee.

I bought the Carlyle because I wanted something stylish but with a plain toe. This fit the bill.
The Carlyle, which is made on a 108 last fits just as well for me as shoes made on the 105 last. I find AE's 105 last fits my foot to a T. Lately, I seem to have more problems finding shoes that fit so well. Perhaps because the extra length in the Carlyle is really in the elongated looking toe. I don't know for sure, but the width is the same as the 105, which makes the shoe comfortable with dress socks.

My initial pair that I received had 4 main issues. (1) the sole had been very overstitched (2) the finish was streaky (3) the leather had a chunk missing (4) the soles didn't match at the front. After contacting AE, they made the return easy and sent me a beautiful new pair free of imperfections. While it seems they lack a bit of QC, their customer service and overall product line is very good. I plan to purchase another pair of AE shoes soon.

I really liked the 333 las, but when the Harrison & Rutledge were discontinued, I didn't have an option and decided to for the Carlyle in the 108 last. The shoe runs long, but a bit more narrow than than the Harrison. The comfort and look are great and I'm thinking about getting other coolers (i have the black) Definitely recommend.

These are some of the most comfortable shoes that I have ever owned. No break-in time was needed, it was comfy from the first day. The walnut is a great color and I already have gotten a lot of compliments on them. Definitely my favorite out of all my AEs so far.

This is a really great dress shoe. Mine arrived in a timely manner, and the quality was superb. These run narrow, so I had to exchange the first pair for the EEE width. The exchange process was really simple, and my second pair had the same great quality as the first pair. The EEE wide shoes feel great!
