After ordering two other named brand hiking boots and returning them, I ordered these. They are very comfortable and even cute. I couldn't ask for a better fit, I wear a 7 normally and after reading other reviews I ordered a 7 1/2 and they are a perfect fit. Love them!!

Perfect! I got them on Friday, wore them Saturday and then took them to Colorado to hike. No break in required, great support, comfortable, almost never had them off...no falls, no rubbing. I do not latch the top just let it brace to protect ankle. Fabulous shoe! Great service Zappos!

I got these boots for a very realistic and fairly strenuous week-long security training at an army base in the German mountains. Even in July it was chilly with off-and-on rain most of the time. The boots were perfect. Protected my feet and kept them dry. They got a little sweaty inside, but you can't have it both ways. They are not serious backpacking boots, but plenty sturdy enough for day hikes in cool, sloppy conditions. The insoles are wonderfully cushy feeling and much appreciated when I had to stand for several hours. No break-in whatsoever was needed, they were great right out of the box, including around the top of the ankle where new boots often pinch. I have big feet so no shoes look "cute" on me, but I like the blue color a lot, and they look pretty good. I wear size 10 street shoes, 10.5 running shoes and Keens. With the Ahnu I waffled between 10.5 and 11 and finally stuck with 11 to give my extra long toes plenty of room and allow for warmer socks, but probably 10.5 would have worked too. I think they are sized about the same as Keens. The laces seem a bit thin and flimsy but I did not have an actual problem with them.

These boots were super comfortable right out of the box. Wore them up my daily mountain hike the very first day. Could barely feel a stone underneath which was really important to me. I had to go up a half size.

I love these boots! Took them up 10+ miles today to almost 12,000 ft and they did great. I have a very boney achilles so the rubbing was expected for me. Once we hit about 5 miles, my feet settled in and it was a great hike. I got turquoise and I love the color! They are super light, waterproof to the ankle, and not hot at all. I wear a 7 and bought a 7. I wear medium weight hiking socks.

Great hiking boot! Comfortable right out of the box, no breaking in!
This is my second pair.
I buy a half size larger due to my long toes.

I have been walking around the house for the last couple of days testing the Ahnu Sugarpine and Montara Boots. The Montara is sturdier and likely better for hiking places where you might turn your ankle or bang your foot on rocks. The Sugarpine also gives good support, but is a softer more running-shoe feeling boot, yet great for hiking any place too! Both have great soles and both avoid feeling bulky. Because I have arthritis in my feet, I buy my hiking boots one full size larger than my regular shoe size to give my old toes space. (I have a friend, who has done a lot of hiking in a lot of places around North America, and who buys her boot 2 sizes larger than her shoes size!) I wear two pairs of socks to get a good fit. My feet (and probably everyone else's) swell when I hike. So I tested these boots before and after a hearty hike. Again, the one full size larger is the way to go for my feet. The important thing is that both these boots lace up beautifully so that my ankle and heel are snug (no rubbing or blisters) while my toes are comfy-cushioned by my double socks. I want them both! My husband has the Montara boot, which he really likes. At the moment, I am thinking of purchasing the Montara but that Sugarpine is beaconing. I recommend both.

As always, I received my order from Zappos in lightning speed. Upon first inspection, the boots are great. Very lightweight, great colors and the support is good. The insole provided with the shoe has a high arch support. I haven't decided if I like it or not. However, I have been switching in soles and the boot still feels great. I haven't had the opportunity to test them in the field, but so far so good. I have a slender foot yet the boot fits snugly, also no rubbing of any parts of my foot, I wear a lightweight sock; however, it could accommodate something thicker. As other reviewers commented, I went a half size up. Typically wear an 8 purchased an 8.5, fits well. Will be going on a camping trip in CO this August. I hope to provide an updated review after doing some serious hikes.

I needed athletic shoes that would allow me to do high impact cross training activities that can damage joints. If I wear regular t-shoes, even really good ones, my hips, knees, ankles, and feet will hurt so much after these activities that I can't walk. I found these boots on Zappos, read the good reviews that these were lightweight, and thought, "Hiking boots as t-shoes? Might just work." And it has! They support my ankles. I wear them at the gym together with light knee braces. My joint pain is gone. The boots have felt so good, I've started wearing them full time. I have the blue color but I'm going to buy the beige color to have less of a hey-look-at-my-blue-feet look for shorts and casual skirts. I do boxing, jumping rope, and other cross training alone and with a trainer. My trainer has been impressed with the way these function as supportive athletic shoes; she's thinking of wearing them when she teaches cross training classes. Light weight, supportive, comfortable! Well made and well worth the price.

These shoes are extremely lightweight but sturdy. I took them out of the box and did a 5 mile hike on rocky terrain. My feet felt like they were floating on a cloud. I've done about 30 miles of hiking in them and they still look as good as the day I pulled them out of the box.

First of all, I am not a usual boot wearer. I find them clunky and uncomfortable. Even the modern brands that everyone likes (KEEN), I hate because they feel like moon-boots. These Ahnu boots are the *least* clunky and heavy boots I have worn to date. I have narrow feet, but I do have bunions on both the insides and outsides of each foot...so I found these boots quite tight in the forefoot / ball of foot area. For me, this will require some breaking in and probably stuffing with newspapers at night before they feel less like they are squeezing my toes to death. For a NORMAL person this would not be a problem. That being said, I do think these fit snugly for a boot, more shoe-like...so if you DO have wide or slightly wide feet these may not work for you. As far as performance... A+! I went hiking and walking on wet beach sand and in water up to about 1" deep and my feet were bone dry :) I also didn't experience the dreaded foot-sweats from lack of ventilation. All in all, if I MUST wear a boot again it will definitely be an Ahnu boot!

These boots are great, I usually wear a size 8 in athletic shoes/boots so I went with an 8 and they're perfect even with medium/heavy weight socks. Great for summer or winter hiking. Kept my feet dry in low stream crossings and safe when trudging through deep leaves/brush. Love the color - I wish it was a little more red - they're kind of pinkish but...I love them anyway.

Really cute boot, but too narrow for my feet. True to size otherwise though. Very soft, flexible and lightweight.

These boots are comfortable like athletic shoes. I love the interesting colors. I chose the cherry red. I bought a half size up. Great for hiking and style. I bought them for a two week trip to Peru.

I ordered several pairs of boots in preparing for a long trip of hiking thru national parks. These were the BEST. I wore them one day to break them in, felt perfect. LOL, I wasn't the only one wearing them while hiking down the Grand Canyon. ;-)

Love these boots! So nice to find a brand that carries colors! Extremely comfortable, really supports the foot, especially the heel which is key for me, also flattering on the leg which is a plus. I haven't tested this yet but I think they're also waterproof or semi-waterproof. A+.

Excellent fit. Very comfortable even on my first 3 mile hike. I slogged through snow, mud, and puddles and they kept my feet dry and look right out of the box new.

I was looking for hiking boots for the Grand Canyon and Sedona in March. After looking at several other pairs and the reviews, was ready to order when Zappos recommended these. I looked at the reviews of others and decided to order. I tried on two other brands. They felt bulky or awkward on my ankle. I put these on and there was no breaking in period! Hiking over 10 miles consecutive days over rough terrain and not one hot spot or blister. They are lightweight and streamlined. My daughter was with me on the trip and got a pair by Ahnu and had the same experience. Will be looking to buy more products by them in the future.

After trying 3 other pairs of hiking boots I was plesently surprised at how well these fit and how comfortable they were.
They did not require breaking in and they are as comfortable as my sneakers.
They were also just a tad big leaving room for thick socks. Unlike other hiking boots these were more on the narrow side. Perfect for my skinny feet.
The 8.5 is a good fit and I wear an 8.5 in Asics sneakers.

Nice boots! Very light. Fit like a running shoe. I usually wear size 6 or 6.5 in "women's" shoes, but wear 7 in most major brand running shoes. Bought 7 in these and they are just right. Probably could have even gone to 7.5 to accommodate really thick winter socks, but hopefully they will stretch out a bit before next winter anyway.

These are great boots. I'm in Southern CA,so the weather isn't terribly rough, but they are lightweight and provide excellent support. I've got wide feet and tend to blister easily. I've worn these without any problem since day one.

These are cute boots, and perfect for easy day hikes. I do a lot of hiking, and would not recommend these for very rocky, uneven trails, what I call "ankle twisters." Or slick rock slopes. I have my full leather Keens for that. I have used a day pack with these, but I would not take them on a real backpack trip. I bought half a size larger than my regular size because I have bunions and they fit perfectly.

I am usually a size 8 in any tennis shoe or sneaker and was recommended I get a half size up, I'm glad I ordered them in 8 1/2. They are super soft, comfortable, and not too clunky of a shoe! I'm excited to take them to Iceland and Norway for my 10 hr hiking trip! Perhaps I should write a fresh review after my trip! So far, the shoes don't feel like they need much breaking in. As far as people saying the boots rub against their ankles, I ordered bunga pads (gel like ankle wraps) that I use in figure skating to prevent irritation. I haven't experienced it myself but others say that was a slight issue for them. I'm excited to wear them! I can't tell you how long I was researching for a good looking hiking boot! The majority of them were looking hilarious and not cool, so I'm satisfied with the look of this boot! Hope this helps!
