I just bought these boots in time for the epic cold snap that only Chicagoans are familiar with. They are amazing. I put them on right out of the box (ordered them in my normal 8.5) with mid weight socks on and haven't wanted to take them off since. The height was a concern for me, but the support in the shoe makes you feel like you're walking on air! Not only are these grippy and will undoubtedly wear like iron in the snow with their waterproof coating, they are flexible enough for thick socks and jeans/leggings/tights/whatever you want to wear with them. In this case, the cost is absolutely worth it but only time will tell if they can hold up against the inevitable onslaught of salt and snow for more than a season.

These boots were my dream come true. They are so stylish and comfortable, and the sole will be great for when it snows! I got mine in 8.5 and they might be a little more lose but with my wool socks they are perfect--I think that's they are meant for thicker socks. I'm so happy I bought these! Sometimes you have to splurge a little but your feet will thank you when it's 12 degrees out and your feet are feeling good!

I don't normally write reviews, but felt compelled to because these boots are terrific! I was a bit nervous about the price but these are well worth it. Made well - check! Comfortable - double check - there is a nice insole insert, the height is right, and the heel to ball of foot length fits great. I wear an 8.5 most of the time - & that's what I ordered. These are a bit loose if you're going to wear trouser socks but with medium weight socks fit fine. Toe box is comfy& I have borderline wide width. I also have low arches & sometimes can't even get lace ups tight enough but that was not the case with these - they hold my foot in place securely. Thanks Sorel for designing a really wonderful boot & Zappos for selling it!

Love these boots! Comfortable, stylish and the quality I expect from Sorel. These boots are not insulated, but a substantial, waterproof leather. Perfect to keep you dry year round, and sizing is big enough to add an extra pair of thermal socks for winter warmth. Traction is fantastic, and the wedge gives a stable platform for a little extra height. Fantastic boots!

I love these boots. If you want to be able to get around freely in bad weather, but like a little height, these are perfect. And they are so comfortable. Highly recommend.

These boots are insanely awesome. Fit exactly to size, comfortable and utterly cool-looking. Immediately ordered a second pair in black.

Hot Diggity Dogs! These boots are amazing. TONS of style, and comfort to boot! I have never worn a pair of 3.25" heels that were so comfortable. And did I say they look great? Perfect compliment for toothpick jeans and a sweater. Super-easy on and off. Waterproof (haven't tested that yet) and great traction. Plenty of room for my C-width feet. What's not to love? Nice job, Sorel!

I resisted buying this boot because of the price. I loved the style; just not the price. And then I read the reviews. Reader: the good ones are true. These boots are a freaking delight. They're balanced somehow, and do not become uncomfortable, even if you're not a regular heel wearer. I love them. I look forward to a very happy future together. (Oh, and I usually hate boots with a tie front, but these are a breeze.)

This is a great pair of boots. I ordered them along with the ankle version (with fur). I ordered those half a size up based on reviews and these in my size. Actually they are for my daughter but we wear basically the same size. The furry ones were too large - I could have ordered a 9½ (my normal size). I am glad that I ordered these in our normal size. They fit great and provide great support (I could not say "excellent" because I do not think that you would want to wear these if you have foot issues, but just shy of "excellent." Best support that I have felt in boots). They are so comfortable without too high of heels. Some serious tread on these which will be great for trekking around campus this winter. If for any reason she does not like them, I am keeping them and letting her get something else. As it is, I am going to see if there is another style that is close but not so close as to match hers, and I will buy them.

I love these boots. They are very comfortable and the heel does not feel to high. I haven't tried them in very cold weather yet.

These boots live up to the glowing reviews! They are beautiful, sturdy, well made, and comfortable! I can't believe they give so much heel height, yet are still so comfy. I did find that they run big. I had to size down half a size. They are pricey, but these boots seem like they will hold up for years. They are so versatile. You can wear them with jeans, pants, skirts, and more casual dresses. Love!

I love this boot! But sadly, I had to return it. Although it was not too tight and the traction was great, after a short time I realized the heel was too high to be comfortable for more than a short time.

I can't give enough praise to these boots. I purchased them based on the look and the amazing reviews. I recently moved to NY City and was looking for a stylish yet comfy boot and these Sorel's are definitely it. You can walk on them forever and they look super cool and are truly waterproof. Choose a warm medium padded sock to top it off. Fantastic boots!

Just received these. Just put them on. I'm in love. Zappos has been very patient with me as I've already returned 2 pairs of boots in the past couple of weeks. I live in the city and walk a ton. Boots, for me, cannot just be cute. They have to work hard and I have no doubt that these will be worth the money as the Boston winter gets rolling. Sometimes I wear and 8, sometimes an 8.5. I went for the 8.5 for these. They are roomy for sure, but I think the 8 might have been too snug. Glad I went with the 8.5!

Little disappointed in these. I got a 7.5 thinking I'd wear them with thick socks (I normally wear a 7-7.5) and I think if I kept, I'd get a 7. The color is a little less vibrant than the picture suggests but I think they would look better on someone a little taller - I'm 5'2 and they hit me right at my calf so I felt like I looked a little stubby in them.

I love these boots. No break-in needed, perfect for my high arches and I really like the slightly larger toe box so I can wear thicker socks. It is kind of hard to tell from the picture, but the leather that looks slightly lighter is a distressed leather and the darker part (toe cap and d ring holders) are a smooth leather. The heel doesn't feel like a heel at all with all the support of a full rubber sole. Super cute with leggings or jeans!

I love these boots and they deserve the 5 star rating, but the heel would not fit, so I marked them with 4 because otherwise they were wonderful. As stated in other reviews, they have a heel slipping issue for some people and myself included. My heel continually slipped out of the heel pocket when walking. If I laced the boots up as tightly as possible it worked, but was then too uncomfortable for long term wear. The rest of the things about these boots is true, they are comfortable and stylish. I say to give them a try and hopefully you don't have a heel issue!

These are perfect. Comfortable, flattering, and funky. They look high but you can't feel it, and the sole is grippy and very secure. Definitely go down a half size from your regular size. I confess I bought the tall version of these boots two or so years ago, and loved them, but this shaft height makes these more useful to me. I bought the brown both times.

Quite simply, the SOREL Joan of Artic Wedge Mid boot brings both fashion and function to those of us faced with surviving northern winters. They're comfortable, warm, waterproof, heavily-treaded and look absolutely fabulous with leggings and jeans, too... what more could a rugged fashionista desire? Nothing, as far as I'm concerned. I'll happily be kicking-butt-and-taking-names in the ice and snow all winter season in these great boots. If you live above the 45th Parallel, like I do, or even if you don't... order them and I promise you won't be sorry. Pricey, but worth every penny. And, with Zappos incredibly prompt delivery, you can be stomping around in your own pair before permafrost sets in.

Having received my order yesterday, in a very timely manner I might add, I had to post a review right away. These boots are gorgeous. Exactly as displayed and so comfortable. Love them. Following the advice of other reviewers I ordered a half size down which worked for me. If you are an inbetween size, definitely go for the lesser. I'm not sure I've ever spent so much on a shoe, but they are worth it.

I looked high and low for a boot that was functional, comfortable as well as stylish. It seemed unreachable until I came across the Joan of Arctic Sorel's! Yes, they are wedges that give good height but they maintain a true comfort feel due to the manner in which the boots are made. I love this color it's rich as well as a great neutral that can be worn with anything. The boot has a subtle coolness about it that makes it look effortless and chic. The grippy sole is perfect for the snow season up in MI. No sense in looking good and falling on your a--; that's pretty embarrassing. Practical! Functional! Stylish! Comfortable! Warrants every Ben Frank!

These boots are amazing! I initially struggled with the sizing. I am a size 7 and the 6.5 fit was good but tight in the toe. The 7 had too much heel lift. I ultimately went with the 7 and am so glad I did. I just decided to be ok with a slightly roomy fit which I think is due to the boot design. Also,I had some issues with the make of the boots. On the first pair one of the rivets were off kilter and on the next pair the lacing buckles weren't lined up with each other along with the toe stitching being completely unmatched to the other boot! My husband noticed without me even mentioning it. Thanks to Zappos (awesome) I returned the defective pairs and am so happy. Wore them the first time to a six hour party standing/walking the whole time. These boots are SO COMFORTABLE! My feet felt great at the end of the night. I got at least three compliments at the party. The black boots still show all the stitching and detailing and are still distinctive despite being black. Worth every penny if you can get a pair that with no flaws (I just felt for that much money they should look right). Thanks Zappos for your awesome shipping and service!

This boots are so wonderful! I spend long hours on my feet in an ice arena ushering for our hockey team, and these boots are keeping my feet warm and comfortable! I needed boots that could carry me through the evening game, and these do the trick!

Very comfortable wedge boot. I have worn it all day at work on several occasions and never had an issue. I sprayed it with some protectant on a rainy day. Great fall boot. Can't wait to see if it will hold up during the more severe winter weather so I can wear it longer.

Absolutely love these boots! I wasn't sure about the heel, but they are one of the most comfortable pair of shoes/boots I own. Worth every penny!
