So I'll admit - I've had trouble with this design. With the initial run of the Strandmok, I rushed to get the black (matte finished original). Instant return. The combination of black & matte finish and dark welt kind of mutes out all of the detail of the medallion. I liked the brown (still being produced), but the stark contrast between the welt and the upper combined with the almost "brush off" distressing was a bit much for me. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the tan (with black welt) was also a little too dull. In the interim they came out with blue & green which were both very nice, but just wouldn't have worked with my typical attire. These colors go great with khakis and chinos; I just don't wear much of them. I tried the Rudolph - I figured why not, I'm a big fan of burnished reds and oxbloods. Well, turned out the Rudolph isn't so different from the brown. Same light blond welt against the dark upper. Only instead of distressed brown, the medallion captoe is replaced with pure red. Nice shoes, just not what I was after. They (as intended) have a little too much "holiday flair" to them. Then...as if AE read my mind, heard my gripes about the original black makeup...they come out with the black CXL Strandmok. I'll tell you, these things are amazing! Instead of a blue lining that isn't visible anyway, they used blue danite. The CXL is shiny enough that the medallion / perforations are still clearly visible. The black upper, lighter welt and blue danite, plus throw in some blue laces - you have a sharp and winning combination! Plus the CXL is awesome for water resistance. I honestly think these can do no wrong. What do they fit like? So the shape is your basic 65-lasted balmoral. The lace-gap and throat/vamp definitely felt tight for me out of the box (I have very high arches). The upper is completely unlined but the footbed includes a poron layer, so it's a mixed bag - the toe box definitely feels roomy compared to some others. I went from my brannock (7.5C) down to 7D for reference. I wore them out of the box for 16 hours of driving, sitting and lots of walking. By the end of the day, they had stretched considerably to the point where I can close the lacing v-gap almost all the way (had a large v-gap to begin with). Even though the Neumok 2.0 is on the 201, the fit is very similar; the Neumok 2.0 definitely has a larger feel to it because of the raised cone, but the lace-gap was virtually identical. Not trying to complicate things, but again as a personal reference, the soft flexible kudu of the black Neumok 2.0 combined with the poron insert allowed the black Neumok 2.0 to work for me in a 7D with very heavy socks. The CXL Neumok 2.0 felt overly large. I know I'm going to get absolutely endless use out of this one. They can be dressed up, down and in the rain. You couldn't ask for more. The gray is not my style at all, but these being so good, I'm contemplating getting a second pair in the gray as well. Final note - the brown is very good, but definitely take the CXL into account when deciding which pair is best for you.

Really like the rubber sole and heels. Bought a tan pair in 2016. Sorry other colors are no longer available

I was wanting to add the brown Strandmok to my Allen Edmond rotation for sometime. When I saw a pair for sale on the shoebank I got serious. Cap toe derby models made with a 65 last I know will fit like a glove right out of the box in a size 8.5 E. The oxford Strandmok proved to be a bit of a challenge but with help of salesperson we found the correct fit in a 9 D. Apparently the partially lined shoe combined with the nubuck leather made for the fitting challenge I encountered. The Strandmok along with the Shreveport are now my favorites for summer wear.

Great shoes I've had issues for a little over a month I'm very hard on shoes half the time I'm in the office there half the time in the field they're easy to clean up look almost like their photo which is really rare. They showed up on time once you break them in they fit like a glove and the where that shows up on him it's fantastic

I liked how the shoes looked in the picture and decided to get them shortly before a business trip. These are not my first Allen Edmonds shoes and they fit as expected based on my other pairs. I have low ankles so I put Dr Scholls insoles in all my dress shoes, this pair is no exception. Upon arrival the shoes looked even better than in the picture. With their slightly different look and coloration than is traditional they certainly stand out. I've worn them with suits, chinos and even jeans. They are far more flexible for style than expected. They might be my favorite shoes of the moment.

I just needed a new pair of black shoes, so I was not expecting the several compliments I have so far received when wearing them. The blue sole and the leather edges and stitching are great details that make these shoes subtely stand out.

These shoes are excellent for everyday use, if you require stylish, comfortable, good looking shoes to wear daily I strongly recommend the Strandmok Cap Toe Oxfords

I absolutely love these shoes. I was in-store buying a pair of Walnut Strands when these caught my eye, and ended up splurging and buying these too because they looked so good on my feet (black/blue pair). One brush shine was all it took to really make them pop. Wore them for the first time today, dark blue jeans w/ dress shirt combo. Super comfortable all day and received compliments from 4 people.

These will become as much of a staple as the Park Ave. Love them. They are hard to polish though. They also stretch out a bit more than avg. Order your size if you'll wear them occasionally; half down if you'll wear them most days.

This shoe fits great right out of the box, no break in period (I don't believe in breaking in either). The shoe is casual yet classy, and you can wear it all day without any discomfort at all. Shoe engineering gives a great structure to the shoe, walking feels great! Fits true to size.

I purchased these shoes on a rainy night in Boston because my LGAs were worn and were slipping on wet pavement. These shoes were initially a bit tight per the recommendation of the shoe consultant and after 2-3 wearings with a lot of city walking, they felt great. Now I wear them 2-3 times per week and get compliments every time I wear them. I love the Dainite soles which wear like iron and have good traction in rainy climates.

Bought these on a trip to Boston when I needed rubber soles for the endless rain. They are comfortable, with rubber soles and show-stoppers. I have people stop me in mid-sentence to tell me how much they like my shoes.

I initially received these shoes, which appeared to be factory seconds upon inspection (mis-aligned sole on one shoe). These were returned and the second pair is up to the expected quality standards. I am very happy with the purchase. Of note, I was a bit surprised that these shoes do run slightly wider than McAllisters, which are constructed on the same last.

This is a great looking shoe. I have received unsolicited compliments about these shoes - from a flight attendant when walking down the aisle of a plane to the shuttle driver taking me back to my car. Looks fantastic with dark jeans. The only negative is that they scuff easily and I understand that the scuffs can not be repaired.

Bought these as my second pair of AE's. Very well made, comfortable, and flexible enough to wear in more formal work environments yet pairs with jeans for casual occasions. The red Dainite soles are both functional and stylish. I've already had several compliments on these shoes in the month I've had them. Definitely recommended.....

nice but preferred the A-E Neumok better. I agree with others comments that the brick red sole does not come through in the Zappos images but it isn't obnoxious. I'm not sure if that sole could be replaced when it wears

For years, I wore medium quality dress shoes... Brands which many know and think well of even today. I like to look good and appreciate people recognizing smart purchases of quality. More importantly, I like my feet, legs, and back to feel good at the end of a long day. I never dreamt people would actually notice a man's shoes and make comment. Women's shoes. Of course. Men's. Never. Oh how wrong I was! Time and time again, women, and even some men, would remark how nice my shoes are and how they stand-out amongst the crowds. This includes on the campaign trail. This includes older and younger commentaries. You cannot go wrong with these shoes. The sole is excellent in all weather, but I absolutely wear these when weather is less than perfect and requires a bit more traction than my Strand Cap-Toe Oxfords with their leather soles. Stop contemplating ... Buy these and enjoy them for a lifetime. That is what I am telling (and gifting to) my son.
