My calves are a bit too wide for normal boots and too small for wide calf boots...and these adjustable Hunters are PERFECT for me. I'm 5'9", 140 lbs with thicker legs. My calves are 14.5" wide...which means I can squeeze them into the original Hunters, but they're hard to get on and can only wear tights with them. I was trying to decide between the Huntress (wide calf boots) and the adjustable Hunters. From the photos, the Huntress looks frumpy and gross. The Huntress is too wide in the calf AND the ankle - which isn't particularly flattering. The adjustable Hunters are the same width in the ankle as the original Hunters, but can expand between 15" and 17" wide (original Hunters are just under 15" wide, I think). I'd highly recommend these adjustable Hunters over the Huntress unless you have extremely wide calves and wide ankles.

I love these boots! They fit perfectly. My last pair of Hunters were way too tight around the calves; however, these are perfect. There is plenty of room for warm socks and there is actually still room at the calf even with socks. Thank you Hunter, these boots are the best!

The traditional Hunter ends up looking like an ice cream cone on me because of my slightly wider calf. This style of Hunter boot has a much nicer silhouette on me bc of the gusset and adjustable strap. You get more of that calf shape than just that straight cylindrical/tube of rubber look of the original.

I wanted these boots forever. I finally decided to get them for my birthday on a late night whim - I ordered. These came the next AM! Packed perfectly & just what I wanted. I needed a little extra leg room so ordered the adjustable back. I am able to tuck socks, pants, leggings & even jeans without a problem. I ordered my regular size in shoe & glad I did. Do not wear without socks or tights - I almost dislocated my hip after trying to get off once my body heat suctioned them on. I love them. The style, color & fit are perfect!

I love this boot. It is sold out at a very popular store in my area but Zappos shipped the same day I ordered it. It's a good fit for people with shapely legs.

Just perfect for my athletic calves. These boots are great. Have the short Hunters, but wanted/needed a tall pair that would accommodate my calf size. Thank you Zappos!

Extremely sturdy; warm; and look great. Very comfortable, but need to wear socks (rubbed a blister when I was not wearing socks). I am 5'1" and these are nearly up to my knee--so perhaps a bit high but they still look awesome. Great for wide calves too.

These are great classic boots. They are sturdy and serve the purpose of keeping your feet dry. They are easy to wipe clean. The calf width can be adjusted but still not a snug for a narrow calf. But I like it that way since I have room to tuck in my pants or wear think socks. They are not heavy but not light either.

I am glad that I finally purchase these Hunter boots. I tried them on and they are so comfortable! I bought the original adjustable one because I have thick calves and it was the right move. I am a size 9 and I tend to fit in 9½ in boots because I have wide feet but I ordered a 9 and they fit perfectly! I got the green color one and it looks like a forest green. I love it. I am beyond happy with this purchase.

Wow! These boots are seriously the best rain boots I have ever bought. I bought some Ralph Lauren rain boots in the past, but unfortunately they were too small for my calves. These are so amazing and still have room to grow! I am seriously in love with these!

I finally found Hunters that work for me! Last year I ordered regular tall Hunters in 7’s and 8’s. (I normally wear a 7.5 or 8). The 7’s fit my foot, but were really tight on my calf and impossible to wear with skinny jeans. The 8’s fit my calf, but were too big in the foot and ankle. I’m so glad I found the original adjustable. I got size 7 and they are perfect. They fit my foot and I can easily wear them with skinny jeans or leggings.

This Hunter boot is an excellent alternative to the Huntress and Wellington if you need extra room at your calves. Easily adjusts to more than 16.5"! I can tuck my jeans in and still have plenty of room for a thick sock. I highly recommend.

These are the perfect Hunter boots for me! I normally wear a 7.5 or 8 in shoes. Last year I ordered the regular Hunter's (non adjustable) in 7 and 8. The 7's fit my ankles and feet but were too tight in the calves to wear with leggings or skinny jeans. The 8's fit my calves but were too big in the ankles/feet. The adjustable 7's are perfect!

I've coveted Hunters for a very long time - finally a pair that works for my calves. I've tried the huntress, and those do fit, but are shorter - these are just as tall as the originals! Also, there are a few pairs of Hunters that have larger circumferences listed, but they really aren't any bigger than the originals (the union jack print and two-tone style). Would recommend these to anyone with bigger calves who want Hunters!

I originally ordered the Huntress because my calves are wide and hard to fit. They were an overall poor fit and style. The adjustable were exactly the boots that I was looking for. They fit my calves with room to spare. The height of these boots is perfect. I am 5'2" and they are a slim look on my short legs. The ankle area fits great, as the Huntress had a huge gape in the ankle. If you are short and have wide calves, do not hesitate to try the adjustable boots.

Love! They fit great. I have thick calves and was worried that these wouldn't fit but the did & I even have room for some leggings or some skinny jeans (which is great!). I ordered an 8 (my normal size) and they are just a tad roomy but I'm sure with thick socks they will be fine! I don't think the 7 with fit anyhow. Yay for Zappos fast delivery. I originally ordered the Hunter Originals, but this adjustable style allows for more variation in the pants and socks one can wear without feeling too tight. I love the navy color. It looks great with jeans, and it has grayish undertones so it works with leggings or tights too! A great boot that should be worn in rain and shine!

I love the adjustable buckle on these boots, because it makes the boots very versatile. Since I'm only 5'2", they hit the inside of my knee when I go up and down stairs, and they are extremely hot when you wear them in hot and humid summer weather. However, these were not deal breakers with me. They still fit fine and don't seem as bulky as many rain boots tend to be. Quality so far is good, but I haven't worn them too much yet.

These boots are the answer to all of my prayers for Hunter boots that fit my wide/athletic calves. I have the short Hunter boots, and they're great. But the original tall are just too tight on my leg. The Huntress made my legs look short and stumpy. But these adjustable Tall Hunter boots are everything I hoped they would be and more. There is actually way more room than I thought, and they look just as good (if not better) than the original Hunter boots.

I love these Hunter boots! I have athletic calves and wasn't able to find a cute, stylish and comfortable rain boot, until now! I got the original green color and absolutely love it. I would recommend this boots to anyone and I can't wait to wear them this fall!

I had previously ordered the Tretorn Adjustable rain boots because I didn't want to splurge on these. But those were super heavy, uncomfortable and large at the ankles. These are amazing! Lightweight and most importantly comfy! The only thing is they may be a hassle getting on/off at the ankles.

These boots are AMAZING!!! I tried on the Original Hunter boots, but my calves were a little too big to wear them with the Welly Socks, even going from an 8 to a 9 (I usually wear an 8.5-9 in women's and thought I should go with the 8 based on other reviews). Disappointed, I contemplated ordering the Huntress boots, but had read a few reviews from women who were a little annoyed that the Huntress boots are shorter. Then I stumbled upon these! I did order them in a 9 so I can wear them in the winter with the Welly Socks and thick leggings. Even just wearing them around my house in normal leggings and normal socks, they don't feel too big, but I do have some room for winter. So, in short, if you're like me and the Originals aren't roomy enough in the calf area, but you don't want a short boot, order these!! They're beautiful and comfortable! And they don't make your calves look huge like some boots can! As always, Zappos and their customer service couldn't possibly be better! These are so far superior to the Huntress boot for a wider calf! The adjustable back is perfect and if you purchase the woolies the adjustable back strap isn't even visible. My only wish is that they were available in some of the fun colors that the traditional Hunter boots are available in. By the way, my calf is 15 3/4. LOVE THESE!

I love these! I originally purchased the Huntress Boots and returned them because they were so loose in the ankle area. These fit great and look so much better. If you want to be able to wear them as winter boots with a thick sock, order up. I learned the hard way that I at least need to wear a thin sock so they come off! I love to garden and these are great for digging around in the mud or kicking around nursery on a wet day, and they look great!

These boots are awesome. I love the gusset in the back so they can be adjusted. The regular Hunters can run a little narrow in the calf an as a girl who has athletic calves, these are a god send! They feel a little big, but when I wear the with the Hunter socks they are perfect.
