These boots are absolutely amazing. I would buy them in every color if it wasn't excessive! They are the same height as the original hunters but with the extra calf space. I am a size 10 shoe with athletic calves and the originals were just too snug on my calves... these were perfect! (Run a little big, but with thick socks or an insert they are totally fine) Comfy sole and lightweight, too. So excited and happy with this purchase.

Better fit than the Huntress. I have muscular calves and didn't like the overall look of the the Huntress. I ordered these and they look just like the original with the adjustable room in the back. There is enough room to wear leggings or skinny jeans.

With the adjustable back, you can order your actual size (I'd still size down if you're a half size), and not worry about the shaft/your calves. I have another pair of Hunters in a larger size because the back adjustable style hadn't come out yet and sizing up was the only way I could comfortably wear thick socks or tuck my jeans in the boots. But with the adjustable backs on these, my feet no longer feel like they're flopping around because I'm wearing my actual size now and I'm able to adjust the calf area to accommodate thinner tights or thicker socks + jeans. All in all, this style is perfect and I couldn't be happier with the fit and how well the matte black will go with outfits!

Unfortunately, I am not able to fit into the Original Hunters comfortably even with just tights-my calves measure 16 inches. I first ordered the Huntress with the bigger calf and was disappointed that the ankle area was actually larger as well. I am taller, but the Huntress made my already thick legs look very short and stumpy. I was still on the search for that original hunter look so I decide to try the Adjustable Hunter. The Adjustable Hunter is the next best thing to the Original. The adjustable buckle area is in the back which keeps them sleek and looking like the Original from the front and side. I ordered down a half size from my normal shoes and got a perfect fit.

I am writing this review for all of you ladies out there with LARGE CALVES trying to integrate into society by wearing stylish rain boots. I'm not going to sugar coat it here. I don't care if your calves are "curvy," "muscular," "athletic" or just plan chunky-- 16-inches are nearly impossible to fit boots over. My calves are 16.5" to be exact. There is little more I am self conscious of when it comes to my body. I have dated body builders whose calves are smaller than mine-- by inches. I typically wear a size 9, but usually 9.5/10 in boots. The Hunter Original Adjustable fits, I ordered a size 9; they are comfortable and there is room for wellie socks--in the foot area anyway. From the front, I feel like somewhat of a normal suburbanite; I even feel like I might blend in with the skinny soccer moms, flitting about this village in which I work, who are blessed with calves that fit into regular Hunters, or even the Huntress-- a style designed for fuller calves that would still never accommodate my legs. And then there's the back... From the back, my 33" inches of pure muscle (16.5" per calf, remember) (also-- ha!) bulge out the rubber gusset that make these boots "adjustable." It looks like I'm busting out of these boots from behind, but only at the top. The gusset accommodates my leg and I can even tighten the belt to achieve a slimmer fit, but I'm not sure I like the way the gusset folds/forms/closes around my calf. I feel like something I'm already super self conscious about is being accentuated by a boot that covers it completely. At any rate, if I want to own Hunters, these are probably my only option. The side adjustable that Hunter offers might work, but I think the gusset on the side would look sloppy. In a side by side comparison with a mid calf (leaky) rain boot that I am looking to replace, stylistically, there's no question: The Hunters win, tenfold. I'm still deciding. One last note, these boots are HOT-- like, temperature hot.

I originally ordered the Hunter Original which were a tiny bit too tight in the calf. I got them on but knew they would bother me when I actually wore them. These were the perfect solution. They are a tad big - I am normally a 9 and bought a 9, but with the Hunter socks I figure they will be a good fit in the winter. The nice part is the Hunter socks cover up the adjustable area in the back so they look just like the Hunter Original but for me are way more comfortable.

I normally wear a 9.5 - 10 in casual/dress shoes. I ordered these in 9, along with the Ladies Balmoral and Bogs Rider Embossed. While the Original Adjustable has a vent in the back with a cinch strap, it does not extend far enough to reach the fullest part of my 16.5" calf. Ended up making the shaft kind of bunch up below the full part of my calf and press uncomfortably against my shins. The 9 is a close fit, probably wouldn't work with thick socks, but I live in TX, so they aren't needed. Very disappointed, so back they go. Sure wish someone would make a tall rain boot that accommodate the shape of a woman's lower leg.

First of all, I love the look and fit of these boots. They're cute enough to wear out, but they definitely don't hold up to barn chores. After the very first time I wore them in the barn the adjustable straps on one of them snapped right off my boot! Hopefully it was just a defective strap though, as I do love these boots!

I ordered this pair in green and the Original Contrast in green/purple. I preferred the contrast color, as it was much darker, but this was a much better fit. I have athletic calves and the Original Contrast was just too tight around my calves...not even with a skinny jean or leggings on. This pair has the adjustable back and I was able to adjust it to fit just perfectly and with room to spare! Bonus, they are so comfortable! I walked around my house and in the garage and it felt like I had nothing on. I have a cheap pair of rain boots now and it feels like I clunk around in those. Not so with these. Definitely worth the price. I was not a fan of the color, so I sent this green pair back for the Navy, which is much better. I would definitely recommend this style and boot company to anyone.

I ordered this one because the original tour Hunters were too tight around the calf. These fit well around the calf, unfortunately, they feel larger (foot size) and heavier than the packable tour; the rubber is thicker. They look good, though.

I was looking for snow boots and after reading so many good reviews I bought the Hunters. I ordered my regular size 7 even though the reviews said go a size small. They fit perfectly. I have walked and stood for long hours and it is super comfortable. I do not have wide calves but I can adjust it when I am wearing jeans. Love the grey and pink combination. Lots of compliments well received.

These boots are most comfortable yet rugged and dependable. I wear them all the time, whether mucking the barn, working in the yard or in the fields. I never have to worry about wet or cold feet. They also ward of insects like ticks unlike low quarter lace up boots. I have put an incredible amount of wear and tear on my boots and they still are waterproof. We bought a similar pair from another brand and within a few months that pair cracked and was leaking. My Hunters never crack as the material stays pliable and I have to say resistant to punctures. As I have worked clearing out black thorns and did not get a puncture. I love them and could not imagine working without them. In winter just wear thicker socks with a liner in the sole.

These are adorable. I have gi-normous calves. Just like everyone else says in these reviews, the Huntress boots are ugly and ridiculously large in the ankle. If you have big calves, get these instead!

These boots are the absolute greatest. I tried the Huntress and the short ones and couldn't get them over my large calves and get a pair to hit just below the knee (I'm 5'11" with really wide calves). The adjustables are a godsend. I can't believe I've lived in a climate with rainy, chilly winters my whole life and never invested in the one style of footwear that would keep me dry.

What a fantastic pair of rain boots! All the reviews were right! I am so happy I spent the extra money and went Hunter. They fit great, I usually have a problem with knee boots because my calves are large (I believe close to 16" but not sure). Anyway, these boots fit right over them and Ive even worn them with jeans. My only complaint is I wish it had more foot/arch support because if you walk a long distance to/from work as I do, they get a bit uncomfortable. They are a bit heavier than I expected also, but that's not a complaint, just gives me a bit of a workout while I run for the train. Great boots for thicker calved women!

Finally a pair of rain boots that fit my calf! I'm 5'0 feet tall and my calf is close to 16" at its widest, and these boots fit like a glove! Of course if are a woman with wide calves, you understand the struggle of finding any boots that fit over your calf. Not these. I originally bought the Original Hunters in youth (because I am a size 5 foot). I received them and was distraught that they were way too tight on my calf. I was in the process of returning them and came across these by accident. Trying them on today I was overjoyed. Like many reviewers wrote, they are super slimming and don't feel as stiff and rubbery as the original Hunters or Huntress. I can't wait for it to rain!

I LOVE my hunter boots! I have a 14.5" calf circumference and found that the non-adjustable version was just slightly too snug with my skinny jeans. The original adjustable is perfect! I usually wear a size 8.5-9 and this was perfect even with a thicker sock.

I splurged and ordered these after my last bargain wellies started to leak. I recommend these for anyone with "athletic" calves. I don't fit into most regular tall boots, but I find that wide leg boots are too big, especially in the ankle and end up look sloppy. These are wider right where I need them. I am looking forward to getting a lot of use out them in the fall/spring as well as in the colder months with some Hunter fleece liners.

I ordered a size down (usually a 9 and ordered an 8) per the suggestions from other reviewers but it was too tight especially if I wanted to wear the Hunter welly socks. I really like this boot and the fact that it will accommodate calves that are larger than 15 inches. I am having a hard time finding my size in stock on Zappos in black though and when I finally did get to order a 9 they shipped me an 8. Very frustrating as now the 9 in black is out of stock again. I ordered off eBay instead. I also tried the men's adjustable welly which could be a good alternative if you can't find the back adjustable boot in your size, but since the adjustable area is on the side it makes your calves look a little wider.

I LOVE these boots! I live in the Northeast where it hasn't stopped snowing since November, and I have been wearing these boots every single day. LOVE!! I did buy a pair of insoles with arch support to wear with them but that is also because I bought them a little big. I am normally an 8.5 and I found the 8 too snug in the toe, so I went with the 9 and put insoles in. Plus I needed thick socks for the winter. Adjustable shaft means I can wear them comfortably - the regular Hunters are too tight in the calf. They look amazingly good. I have walked through 2 feet of snow for months now and they are awesome. Will love them for spring and the rainy season too. Purchased in Navy with light blue accent in back - fabulous. I almost hate to see the snow go away!

I love, love, love these boots. The fit is perfect, the material is supple, quality is great. I added an insert to mine and am still able to wear my usual size. I wouldn't want these any taller. I'm 5'5" and wear size 8. When I fold my knees up all the way, they hit the back of my knees and wrinkle. I do have short-ish legs though.

These boots are surprisingly comfortable. There is a cushion at the ball of the foot and the heel. Great for walking in NYC. There is a bit of an odor to them that I had not expected. I hope it goes away over time. I smell it most when in my office with the door closed.

Love these! They were the perfect choice after reading the originals might be too small. I can get them off decently easy, plus I can tighten or loosen depending on the outfit. Now I enjoy the rain!
