I've worn the shoes 5 maybe 6 times.I'm still getting blisters trying to break them in.I like the shoes,but they run small.I had to get a half size larger, and they still rub pretty badly. Little by little they're getting broke in.

I purchased these shoes because I was having some foot pain and needed a sturdier shoe than a typical ballet flat. I would agree with most of the reviews here: they do hurt at first and need to be broken in and, they do run a tad bit small (I typically wear and 8 and fit an 8.5 in these). However, I love these flats so much! I promise, if you stick it out and wear band-aids for the first 2-3 weeks while breaking them in they will become super comfortable. I really appreciate the sturdy, stylish out sole which is made of a flexible rubber. It stands up to wet, slippery, or rough ground just fine. The inside is plush and has good heel cushion and, unlike some of my other flats, they don't smell if you don't wear socks with them. They are very high quality and so far, after two months of near daily use, they still look brand new. Overall, these flats are cute and super versatile. You can dress them up or down and they are great for work or running around on weekends. I would definitely buy another pair - worth every penny.

Really loved everything about this shoe. Except my little toe kept rubbing on the side. Even with added padding. That is the only reason for 4 stars.

It's true. These shoes are painful at first. But I loved them so much, and I love Merrells because they give me better support and protection than most, that I just put on a pair of thick socks, jammed my feet in them, and then did house chores for an hour or so. I did this for five days -- cooking dinner, doing laundry, even going to the grocery store. Now they are fine and comfy. Every time I wear them they get less stiff and more comfy. They do not spread out, gap or flip off of my feet, and they have good torsional rigidity, so that's a bonus, but they do run half a size small. Along with more support than most flats, they are very, very, very flattering. But do not buy these and then go to the city or on vacation or do anything that requires a lot of walking/standing. You have to break them in. I found it to be worth it. But if I had taken them to Europe with me on my trip, my feet would have been screaming after just a few hours. I will bring them with me next time on my trip to Finland because those cobblestone streets require a bit more than the soft, squishy flats I have.

Love these shoes! The "otter" color is a perfect natural color. Perfect style shoe for most anything, even outdoor activities! Only giving 4 stars because I am sending back to get a half size larger, a little too snug!

Perfect ballet flats with room for my orthotic inserts and good stability. Adorable and elegant. Quite narrow in the toe box. They will only work for a narrow foot. Definitely need a lot of breaking in to mold to your foot.

Ratings based on my foot. Cute shoe, and wanted to keep but has no arch support. Great shoe for someone with no/little arch and who likes to be barefoot but has to wear a shoe to the office...it is a very simple shoe, almost a sock!

I love my Merrells - I bought the second pair. They are the only shoes which I can wear without them being a Narrow size, so I don't blame the above consumer complaining, because she has wide feet. Also I would say they run a teensy bit smaller.

Comfortable and cute. I work in retail, and I am on my feet all day. These shoes are super comfortable and have surprising arch support for a ballet style flat. The only drawback is that although I have worn them multiple times, the black dye from the suede constantly bleeds onto my heel.

I just got these and they definitely need a break in period. They already hurt on the top of my big toe after just a few minutes of wearing them. I do not normally keep shoes that need to be broken in, but I am considering these because of the previous reviews and because they are cute. Having to add my own arch support.

I had to return my first pair & reorder them a size larger. The larger size was still a little tight but after wearing & breaking them in they are comfortable. I love the looks of them. They look nice with both slacks & skirts.

I was so excited to get these, but then they did not have enough cushioning on the bottom to be my everyday shoes (I walk a couple of miles daily). So they must go back. Too bad because they are really cute.

I was out of town on business and forgot to pack my flats. I bought these shoes and upon trying them on I needed a larger size. I wear a 9, they did not have a 9.5 so bought the 10. Worked fine with my ballet shoe socks but a bit large with some slippage. However, after wearing them the first few days the back of the shoe rubbed on my feet and caused blisters. It took about 4-6 wears before I had them broken in, the top of the shoe in the rear is stiff and seemingly sharp until they soften with wear. I almost thought I would get rid of them but they are super comfortable now that I have them broken in but it was a painful process so wear them in short sessions. They have moderate arch support and great padding, especially the bottom. Most ballet flats have such thin soles that when you step on a rock it hurts, not these. I do think they are much cuter on and suprisingly the 10 didn't make my feet look as big as I thought they would.

These would have been great if they weren't too small. The style is cute and they're comfortable. My mistake - I thought they'd "break in" after a while but they're just too small, now I can't return them.

I have had no issue with the edges cutting into my skin. These were comfortable and worn all day on day #1. I am on my feet many hours and these are nicely cushioned. They are more casual looking, but much better looking than many of the comfort shoes that make my size 11 foot look huge.

Tried a pair of these on - they almost fit and I was tempted to see if I could break them in. Unfortunately, my toes also hit the top the the shoes, and there was no way it was ever going to be truly comfy. For Merrells, these were oddly not instantly comfortable.

I bought these (in brown) so I could have some cute but comfortable flats since I work in a professional office but have to be on my feet a lot. I followed the advice of other reviewers and ordered a slightly larger size (I wear 7.5 to size 8 generally, so I went with a size 8) and that worked out well. They are very cute, and look good with both dress pants and skirts, though I will say they are darker brown than they appeared in the pictures (to me at least!). They definitely require some breaking in; I made use of many bandaids to begin with, but then my feet are very sensitive to all new shoes I wear since I tend to wear no shoes at all when I'm not at work! Overall a good shoe; excellent padding for my needs and stylish while very functional.

I love how cute these shoes are! Unfortunately, I had to return them because (like a lot of Merrell's) I need a half size larger than I normally wear. I didn't exchange them for the next size up because the heels wouldn't have been snug enough to keep from slipping off my feet. Oh, that sadness of having narrow heels.

This is a well-made shoe that feels a little on the snug side for my size. I love it because of the sturdy footbed and the suede. My feet could never hack those flats with just a plain unpadded sole. The cut of the upper is also a plus, designed not to create unsightly and damaging creases and wrinkles as your foot bends. However, I have had to bend over backwards trying to make these shoes work with my picky feet. Pads for the achilles area and a thin insole have done the trick. I have owned many pairs of Merrells, back to my first pair of hiking boots, so I expect these to last a long time like the others.

These are so cute on. They looks like ballet flats but provide way more support. I wear a lot of skirts so these will look good as a cute narrower looking crossover. I had to go up a whole size, though, and the back took some breaking in. I may get an additional pair in black.

An attractive shoe, but little padding in the insole. Didn't live up to my expectation of Merrell shoes. I have worn Merrell's for years and love them.

I wish that I had ordered these in a larger size. These are smaller and narrower than the other Merrells that I have in the same size. I have narrow feet but these are narrow even for me. They will definitely not work for wide feet. I had to get them stretched and I am still breaking them in. I hope that I can eventually wear them because they are very pretty. Order a larger size, and only if you have very narrow feet.

While I love how these look, they felt flimsy and lacked support. I expected more from Merrell. Why can't anyone make an attractive flat with arch and heel support? Also the toe box was small. These are going back.

I have been looking for a comfortable ballet flat for a year. Hooray, Merrell made one! The fit was perfect and they were comfortable except for an inside seam that rubbed on my little toe. Alas, I have to return them. Not like Merrell.

It's a nice looking shoe but as other reviews state, the shoe runs small. I ordered a half size bigger and when I put it on it still felt too small. I will say after an afternoon of breaking them in the size felt fine. The shoes are pretty stiff at first which contributes to them feeling small. My biggest gripe is the price point feels high to me for the shoe that you get. I'd think again before plunking down this much money on these. I think Puma makes a nicer similar shoe for the same price.
