These jackets are not true to size. In order to get one to fit around the chest it is too big everywhere else and too long. I usually wear a medium. This is the second size I ordered in the same jacket and they just don't fit right! Very disappointed and need to return.

In general I love this style of Columbia jackets. Very light weight and warm. I have the shorter version of this jacket and it fits great. However, this longer jacket has the pockets located too low on the coat so it's not comfortable to put your hands in your pockets. No idea why the pockets are not in the same location on the longer jacket as the shorter. If you have longer arms, this might not be an issue for you, but I really think it's a fail on the designer's part.

While the jacket was very pretty and light weight yet warm, I had to return it because it was too tight. I am curvy and have a plump rear. The coat was very tight to zipper from the bottom and no room for a thick sweater.

I'm short and curvy. I had to order an XL in order for it to fit my bust and bottom, but this made the other parts of the jacket really baggy and disproportionate and It just didn't fit my body. However, it is a very nice looking jacket and seems like it would definitely keep you nice and warm.

I love that this is lightweight and fits really well. It keeps me warm until the temps drop to mid to upper 40's. The water resistance is great- but it's definitely doesn't block the wind at all. The fill is starting to come out of the seams on week 3. Have'nt washed it yet.

I just received this in size SMALL. There's plenty of room at the shoulders, arms, bustbut the hips are too snug and the waist indentation is about 2" below my waist, so it sits very strangely. I've never had this sort of fit problem before; my hips are within the given measurements for this size.
I'm not ordering a MEDIUM because then the top part will be too large.

I love this coat but the only problem I am having with it is that the zipper is jammed. I hope I can get a replacement being that I have only worn the jacket once. I hope this isn't a common problem with this jacket.

The look of this jacket is very deceiving and makes you think it will not be warm but it definitely is. This jacket is great for anyone using public transportation. The bad part is the hood is horrible. There's no way to tighten it so the wind always blows it straight off.
In -8 weather my body was extremely warm but wished the hood stayed on.

I have the shorter version Kaleidescape which is warmer and better made or was. Have had it for years so wanted a longer one for warmth and still light weight. This seems cheaper made which was a bummer. Got a good price so that helps. I am 5'6 125 and normally wear a small but got a medium which I have room in shoulders to wear sweaters.

I thought this jacket would keep me warm while I'm outside walking the dog in cold (15 - 35 degrees) temperatures. However, it does not. Did not send it back because I'd removed the tags. Never dreamed it would do such a poor job. I like the color, and it looks nice, but it doesn't keep me warm.

The jacket is light-weight as promised, and has some nice features, but is definitely not warm! When it arrived at my workplace, I put it on and stood outside on a windy, mid-teens day, and was cold and stayed cold, even walked around a bit, and was disappointed.
I am returning the jacket... to bad, as it seemed to be very well-made.

This coat will keep you toasty warm in three conditions: indoors, in the car, and outdoors as long as the temperature (or wind chill) does not go below about 45°F. This is assuming you have just one layer (sweater or top) underneath. Maybe it works better if you wear multiple layers but that was not my intent when I bought this coat. As such, am very disappointed but cannot return it because it has been worn (which is how I know that I am cold when wearing it on a 40° day!)

When I ordered this coat I was expecting a nice winter coat as indicated as according to the "most helpful" reviews. However, it was more of a jacket than a coat and I had to layer in order to stay warm. The hood didn't even stay up so it was useless without help.

I'm always into new items and tech so I thought this would work well considering it uses the same concept at emergency blankets.
However I'm not generating any heat standing in the subway. Who would be. To make this jacket work I'd have to jog while wearing it.

Did not even think to see if this coat could handle Chicago winters. After I purchased the coat I tried looking at the tags and there is no rating for how cold the weather could get and coat keep you warm.
I just wanted a coat that would go past my waist.
The coat is very very thin and since the winter has been mild this year, not sure if I will recommend it for Chicago winters.
The fit is good, if you want to add extra layers there is room. I ordered a X-Large, I am 170 and 5'6". Enjoy!!

I would give this coat 5 stars if only the hood had a string tie. The coat itself is great, but, if you are walking into the wind the hood acts as a sail! Since I bought it specifically to go beach combing in the windy winter months - it was useless without modifications to the hood. I ended up adding a large hook and eye to the hood to make the coat usable.
As usual with Columbia clothing I had to go up a size because they seem to cut their clothing large through the top and in the waist, but small in the hip and leg area. I am 5'6" tall and 115 lbs and needed to buy a medium for it to fit in the hip area. It was big through the top, but, that was OK because it allowed for wearing several layers.

Originally purchased a medium; however, as a petite curvy female, the bust did not properly fit. Instead purchased a large and sizing fits, but pockets are too low to reach for someone that is petite.

I bought a small in this jacket after reading many reviews about the fit. When it arrived, I found that the coat would not zip over my hips, but had ample room in the waist and chest area. I then ordered a size medium as I felt that would give me enough room to zip the coat comfortably. When the medium arrived, it was still snug in the hips but much roomier in the chest and arms. I bought the coat to attend football games, and wanted a longer coat to keep wind from blowing in when I sit down, but also to keep warm while sitting on metal bleachers. The jackets both hit at mid-thigh, which was exactly what I was hoping for. This jacket may not be the one for me, I am disappointed but may try the shorter version to see if that will work.

This coat is very stylish and looks good on. I live in VT, and it's nice for running around doing errands on a not too cold winter day, or for limited outside time. It is not all that warm. I am someone who always runs cold, so I don't think the omni heat works for me. I'm just cold all the time, so if I don't have much body heat, there's nothing to reflect back on me. I went ice skating in an indoor ice rink, so no wind and not too cold, and I had to layer a fleece jacket underneath. I was disappointed. This is definitly no replacement for down.
I found the sizing to run very large. I tried on a small and was swimming in it. Had to get an xs. While I normally wear xs in clothing, I normally wear small in jackets. I'm 5'4", 118 lbs, thin and athletic.
The quill color is beautiful. I just wish this was a little warmer! Style is great and feminine. Length is perfect.

I liked the length (hovering knee), color (Tradewinds Grey) and lightness of the coat. It packs well and would have been great for travel. However it was way too large from chest down so it looked really baggy and I am particular about a fitted look.
I'm 5ft 3" 103 lbs and don't think I can take XS as the shoulders of the S fit me.
I am returning this product, but I think it would be ok for someone at least my height but fuller in the waist and hips.

I ended up returning this coat after wearing it, and freezing, on a 32 degree Chicago day. The hood, thumb holes, pocket placement, and double zipper are great, but there is no way this coat would keep me warm on a sub zero day. I ordered a size Medium (the same size as all previous Columbia purchases) - I'm 5'8" & 140lbs so the fit was spot on.
