A previous reviewer listed the calf circumference for a size 9 as 16" - that's not correct. The circumference for a size 9 is 15" - or at least that was the circumference on the pair I received. Overall, I was disappointed in the quality of these boots. My 4-7 year old Fryes are made of supple leather and made in Spain. The workmanship on those pairs is impeccable. These were stiff and incredibly uncomfortable. They also had a tag sewn on the inside of the boot rather than the embossed logo. These were made in Mexico and quality of the leather and the workmanship isn't the same.

Very pretty shoe, fits true to size and quite comfortable. I will be returning these however because, for the price, I would expect a far better quality. The straps that cross around the ankle and hold the metal plate are flimsy, and seem to be lined with some man made material. The metal plates are attached very crooked, and are so thin that I am concerned that they will bend very easily. The shoe looks more like a cheaper pair of boots, not a pricey pair. For the price, I would have expected the leather straps to actually look like leather, and to be even and of a reasonably high quality. I would also expect the shoe to be assembled evenly. The pair that I received looked lopsided when you stand them side by side. The plate appeared to be about a inch higher on one shoe than the other, and both were lopsided.

I've read time and again that the shaft of this boot runs small - and that was the sole reason I ordered it. Completely disappointed that I could still fit my whole arm down the shaft it was so loose!

I have multiple Frye boots. Absolutely love the brand; however, these were definitely sized down. I ordered a size 8 & couldn't squeeze my foot into the shoe of the boot. Returning for a larger size as boot is beautiful, with quality leather. As usual Frye doesn't disappoint, just wish made closer to my other boots in the Frye sizing chart. As a Zappos VIP ordered last eve & received by 10 am next day!

I really wanted to love these boots from the picture on the website, but was disappointed when I saw them in person. Their color is not as polished/shiny & beautiful as on the website. It seemed more dull. And the stain was applied to the the boots in a sloppy manner -- some places seemed a little streaky & some places on the boot were even missing stain (such as near seams & under straps)! Maybe they were going for the "antiqued" look, but there is a difference between that & not staining the leather at all. I think this is unacceptable quality for the price and not what I was expecting from Frye. The leather straps seemed a little thin & poor quality to me. As far as fit, I ordered my normal size (9), and felt like it fit pretty true to size. The shaft was a little tight on my calf, which seemed to make it bunch just a bit and not wear as straight & tall as it is supposed to. I did like the metal plate on the back with the Frye name. Bummer, I will be sending these back. Maybe I just got a bad pair, but surely Frye has something better to offer than these. I will try another style.
