These have become my favorite everyday shoe/boot. They work well with skinny jeans tucked in and over the shaft with boot cut jeans or pants. As mentioned in a previous review, out of the box the left zipper was tight where the shaft joined the foot bed but that worked out within a month and is now a smooth pull. They are gorgeous and just make me happy to wear them. I am considering putting some orthotics in them to elevate them from great boot to RockStar performer. There is not much arch support in these. The soles are also smooth, I scuffed them up pretty well to ensure some traction. This is the first time I have sprung this kind of money for any shoe or boot and I have found it well worth the investment. Please remember, as with any leather shoe they feel a bit tight right out of the box, but after a day or 2 of wear, they become your new favorite foot wear. I typically wear a size 6, I purchased this boot in a 6.5 to allow for warmer socks in the winter/ fall. They work very well with the wool wigwam boot socks.

I love my Frye boots. Great quality leather, that melds to the leg comfortably. And this is over my skinny jeans. The fit is middle of the road, but wearable for long hours. I wore them for roughly 6 hours. And was more than ready to take them off. Walking was minimal, I might add. I have had surgery on my right great toe joint, due to arthritis, and the left great toe joint has arthritis, too. I guess I may not be the right person to offer my opinion unless you have these concerns. All in all, they are keepers for me. Excellent quality and, that being said, rightfully so...they are pricey, but worth every cent. Frye makes lovely boots and they wear for many years. Thanks Zappos, for giving better options for addressing my feet. The shipping, shopping from home, quick delivery, and kindness, from your staff make Zappos, my top choice when looking for shoes. I love these boots! I have terrible arches and these give me great support without any discomfort! I like that they can be dressed up or down. They are a beautiful leather. I got them in black, next year whiskey!

Nicely fitted and decent in the calves, just a little too much like my cowboy boots so wanted them to just have a little more something on them and got a different pair. Oh, the zipper on one of them did not work and my husband had to use all his strength to zip it.

First I ordered these boots on December 31st...at 11.15am...they arrived at my door on January 2nd at 9:42am. I can't believe they got here that fast on a holiday...not even 48 hours. Second, the color is so beautiful, cognac is the perfect name for this color. I already have the black tall harness boots with studs (love them). I decided I needed brown (okay, wanted) and I am so glad I ordered them. Both pair are perfect, no zipper problems at all...feel comfortable from the first time I put them on. You will love these boots. Thanks Zappos. I think I want more Frye boots.

Wow...I love these boots! They fit perfectly straight from the box and I haven't wanted to take them off since. I'm 5'3", 120 lbs. with a calf circumference of 13" and these fit just right with leggings and skinny jeans with one finger width between my leg and the boot. The shaft stops about 1/2-3/4" from my knee, which is awesome for someone on the shorter side like me. I bought the burnt red soft vintage leather, and it looks and feels luxurious. The color is deep and warm. I picked up my boots on the way to work a few days ago...my coworkers saw them, tried them on, and now 2 of them want them! I also ordered the same boot, Phillip Harness Tall, in the dark brown antiqued. The antiqued leather is much stiffer than the soft vintage, and it was really uncomfortable on my ankles, so I sent that pair back. However, I will be buying another pair of brown boots from Frye, but in the soft vintage leather. A huge thank you to Zappos for being such an awesome place to shop!

I am normally between a 6 and 6.5. I went with 6.5 for these boots, mainly to allow room for my not-at-all-dainty calves. I've got plenty of room in the toe and footbed and the calf is comfortable and flattering. I had no trouble at all with the zippers: easy up, easy down. Comfort is huge for me and these felt great right away. I love the way they fit snugly at the ankle and up through the calf.

After trying these boots on in a 7, 7.5, and 8, I settled on the 7.5, which is my regular shoe size. I was worried because my heel kept slipping a little in my left boot, but I got used to it as I began walking normally (not doing the 'trying on shoes stroll'), and now it doesn't feel awkward. The zipper is a pain, but has become a little easier over time.

I love these boots. They look great and are comfortable. In addition, the quality of the leather is exceptional. I did have to get an larger size because they run small. Returning and exchanging them was so easy. I was very pleased with my entire Zappos experience. I will definitely shop Zappos again!

These are beautiful boots. But they are way too big in the calf for my small calfs. It is very frustrating to try to find boots that fit me! I wear a 10 and I have the hardest time finding boots!

Really nice! True to size with a soft leather. The zipper is initially hard to zip but if you play with it a while, zipping becomes easier. If you are looking for a long lasting, nice looking riding boot, I strongly recommend this boot.

These are beautiful boots. They are comfortable and true to size. I wear them with jeans and skirts and they always look nice. I receive man complements on them. I may get them in another color.

Beautiful boot! I have never purchased anything Frye before. I will definitely wear these for several seasons! Good craftsmanship, color and a sharp looking boot.

I ordered these in black, size 8 when I normally wear 8 1/2. The size 8 fit great with room to spare. I also have wide feet and these boots were not a problem. The 13" circumference is really 14 1/2 inches. I have skinny calves, and these boots are better than most. Please notice that the sole is leather and will not give you a good grip on ice. They work out fine for dancing on a wood floor. Perfect dancing boots! The zipper was hard to move the first time; but I just pulled it up and down a few times and it got better quickly. The first time I wore them I went dancing and had no problem. These are great boots!

I have had these two or three years now. They are awesome and timeless. I recently had a bit of a blister issue with these on the back of one ankle where the zipper placket rubs, but I just started cuffing my skinny jeans up so it is not so thick there. That resolved the issue. I have some Melissa pull-ons that I love also with no issue there, but at the end of a long night out, the zipper makes the boots so much easier to remove. Go Frye! Go Zappos! You're both the best.

These boots are gorgeous! I bought the Carsons in camel about a month ago but also needed a black boot, so I bought these today. Oh, how I wish I had tried the Phillips before I bought the Carsons...I would have bought the Phillips in two different colors. The Carsons are great, but the Phillips are stunning. They are soft and supple, and they totally look like they should cost as much as they do. I love the fact that the leather is pebbled and just has a subtle sheen rather than a shiny look. To me, shiny leather just doesn't look as rich or expensive. They are comfy as well! The zippers are stubborn right now, but I think they will ease up over time as the boots are broken in. The shaft is snug, but I like that about these boots. My teenage kids told me they made my legs look long and thin!! What more could a soccer mom ask for?! My only complaint is the difference in shaft height from the 7.5 to the 8. I had to buy these in 7.5 because the 8's (which is my true size) were a tad too tall and grazed the bottom of my knees which would have been annoying with a lot of walking. I also noticed this with the Carsons. It must be a Frye quirk. But the 7.5's feel great in both styles as long as I stick with tights or thin socks. Overall I am thrilled and will be saving up for the dark brown Phillips!

I ordered my regular size 8-1/2 in this boot based on most reviews. That size did not work out for me. I have a narrow to regular size foot and they seemed tight across the top and narrow on the sides, but I loved the style and look so I returned them and ordered a 1/2 size up to a 9. The 9 is still snug but comfortable and I will happily keep them. I ordered the dark brown antique color and it is a distressed chocolate brown and so cool looking! I have thin legs and the shaft of the boot is fitted but just enough room to wear with skinny jeans and a dash of room to spare but still look great with leggings and won't have too much gap. I love boots and have a lot of them, but these are by far up there with my favorites!

These boots are beautiful and very well-made. The leather is yummy, the heel height is perfect, and the zipper works great. The fit around the calf is perfect -- not overly wide like so many boots today. Only problem is they run big/long in the toe box. At least half a size or more, so order down from your normal shoe size. I had to exchange.

I got these boots in the black soft vintage and the dark brown soft vintage. They were beautiful! The leather is soft and the color gorgeous. The only reason I returned the dark brown soft vintage was that I really needed black boots more than brown and for the price I had to choose one. I am usually an 8 or 8.5 so I ordered the 8 after reading how these will stretch out. once I got them I thought maybe they should feel tighter before stretching out so I ordered the 7.5. This actually felt pretty good but I was afraid with thick socks they wouldn't stretch quite enough for true comfort so I think the 8 is the way I will go. These are the first Frye boots I ordered and the quality is truly different from other brands. I see why the price difference.

Love these boots! Roomy enough for over jeans, but still not too slouchy on bare legs, soft comfy leather, and the back zip means they don't have that strange hard thing at the back of the heel like my other Fryes that always tends to rub after awhile, and also makes them super easy to get on and off. I think I will be enjoying these boots for years...just perfect, so happy I ordered these!
