My boyfriend and I each bought these here on Zappos and absolutely love them! They are great for hiking and trail running especially where we live in the High Mountains of Colorado. The goretex outer keeps your feet dry and warm when it starts to be brisk. I wouldn't recommend it as a summer shoe, but great for fall spring and winter! The sole is super grippy. The quick laces stay tight and I have been wearing them a lot in the month that I have had them.

These are easily the best trail running shoes that I have ever owned. I switched over to these from the Ecco Biom line and I am not going back. The upper is breathable and hugs your feet, the outsole lugs dig into the dirt. They shed water after creek crossings. They have great cushioning in the forefoot and heel. The lacing system is very strong and I never have to adjust it during long 10 mile runs. Overall these are terrific trail shoes.

Great shoe, almost too grippy on baseball fields, I'm used to being able to slide in loose dirt with my regular cleats but these stop on a dime!

Great shoes, used them in a spartan sprint in DC, never slipped once, comfortable and supportive, I used my ortho inserts with them as I have very high arches. Can't wait to get into the next spartan super race with them.

These are great day hikers. Bought them to take to Glacier National Park for day hikes. Hiked 15 miles and 3500 feet up and back down and they worked great. Better than any other hiker I've ever had. Stable, too. They fit my narrow foot very well. Lacing system works great.

Love these. I use them for hiking. Grip is excellent in all conditions. Will be interested in another pair to switch off as needed. As always great service from Zappos. Ordered a 9.5 but were too small. Ordered 10s and they arrived before I could get the return out. Great company. I love Zappos!

These shoes are flat out awesome! I live in Scottsdale, AZ and often hike/train run in the mountains where there is very rough terrain, jagged rocks, uneven surfaces, loose gravel, etc. I feel that these shoes provide more than adequate protection on the soles, and laterally. Love the pull tie feature. I also hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim to rim in these shoes, and they held up great. Kept the sand out of my socks, which is one of the main reasons I like these shoes. They are light, but order a size bigger since they run small. Note that if you get the "Speedcross 3 CS" version your feet will sweat a lot. Would be good for cold climates, but it's not a good shoe for warm weather. I hope you enjoy these shoes and give them a try, you won't be disappointed. I did a lot of research on shoes for long hiking and trail running, and I couldn't find a better shoe for long distances.

I use these primarily as a trail hiking/backpacking shoe, carrying a light pack (12-13 lbs base weight). They are light weight, dry quickly, and are "out-of-the-box" ready to go....no break-in. I purchased them one size larger to allow for feet expansion on longer hikes. For me, they are the best!

Fantastic trail running sneaker and the best choice for any obstacle course race...Spartan, Tough Mudder, Warrior Dash etc. I struggled with Inov as they were just way too narrow and did not provide support. I am 200lb, 5'9. When running a 8, 14, 26 mile race support is needed. Right out of the box these shoes felt perfect. I also have wider feet and they are still wide enough. The non-lace system is fantastic concept and I wish all shoes would switch to this design. The grip is great and provides assurance on both up and downhill accents. I am a diva when it comes to sneakers and have tried most of them. The Speedcross work well. They are an alternative for the Inov crowd out there for those seeking more support in their shoes.

I'm on my 4th pair of Salomon shoes in 5 years. I swear by these shoes now. With Salomon, you truely get what you pay for. Alaska winters are especially brutal, and I run with the climate shield spikecross in the winter months and speedcross in the summer months.

These are the best and most comfortable shoes ever! It only took me 58 years to find them! Excellent grip, fantastic orthotic insole, overall comfort! They are highly recommended.

Felt true to size, didn't notice it being narrow like other reviews stated. Using them for USPSA competition, and they are sweet!

I purchased these for my husband to use as refereeing cleats for girls lacrosse. He was horrified at the price and would never have gotten them for himself, he was looking for the $34 or less model. When I opened the box and saw them, they were so nice looking I wanted a pair for myself! They felt comfortable to my foot even though they were much to large for me. He said they are quite comfortable and really didn't notice a need for break in time. I liked the elastic lacing and pocket to stuff the lace into to keep them from getting caught on things I image for trail running purposes. He wears a 10 in running shoes and got the same in these. They are a sharp looking shoe and he likes them in spite of the price. I kind of wish he didn't need the black or I would have got him a different color just for fun. I'm still looking to get myself a pair in the women's style. Just don't tell him.

Great shoe for rugged terrain. Can be used as a intro hiking shoes if you wanted to use them for multiple purposes.

I am a Fly Fishing Guide in South Louisiana and spend about 300 days a year on the water poling a skiff for 8 plus hours a day. I had been looking for a pair of shoes that would give me all day comfort and support and relieve the foot and back pain that I had been having. I am now on my second pair of Salomon Speedcross 3 and absolutely love them. Very comfortable, light weight, and quality shoe plus they work great as a boat shoe. Lots of traction and do not mark the deck. Most of my back, leg and foot pain are gone. Great shoe!

Really happy with these shoes. I'm super picky about footwear, and gear in general. No break in period and after a month of heavy use, they're in great shape.

I have struggled to find a pair of trail running shoes as my local stores don't carry a wide selection of trail shoes. But after no luck with several other models, I bit the bullet and decided to buy these based online reviews without a chance to try them on. I'm glad I did. They fit like a glove and provide excellent traction. A little surprising, but so far, the lugs have held up and have not been an issue on the half of mile of pavement I have to run to get to the trails. I normally wear a size 10.5 but usually size a half size up in running shoes to give my toes some extra room. Same here. I bought both the 10.5 and 11 and ended up keeping the 11 and using zappo's awesome free return policy to return the 10.5.

Super comfortable, moderately water resistant, love the speed lace, the soles wear pretty quickly but the grip is great. This is my 3rd pair.

My favorite trail shoe -- the Salomon Speedcross 3s give me great grip when going down extremely steep hills and a wonderfully balanced between weight and support. I generally wear instep supports -- but find I do not need them with these shoes.

Great shoe. Lots of support, easy in and out, very lightweight. While this is a men's shoe, I ordered the smallest size and they fit perfectly (I'm a woman's 8).

I rarely write reviews but I have to say these shoes are excellent all the way around. They fit great right out of the box, provide excellent cushioning and traction and look pretty cool. The quick lace system is awesome. I have received lots of compliments and questions about who makes them. If you are on the fence, do not hesitate to buy these kicks. They are as good as it gets!

I received my Speedcross 3s in a very short time, within the week. These Salomons fit awesome. It's like slipping my feet into a glove. They are snug in the mid foot and the toe box has just enough room. Once they break in they will be perfect but they are still very comfortable new. I wish they had an option for trail tread and road tread for this shoe, it is amazing. I have run several times with these shoes (no further than 3 miles) along the shoulder of the road in snow and slush. Even with the aggressive tread there is still slippage, but that isn't the shoes fault. Iowa winters stink! I will say these shoes are not for hard surface running. Makes the shoe very unstable. I cannot wait until the spring so I can put these to the test on trails. The speed lace design rocks, very handy! I have heard great reviews on these shoes from friends and found them to be spot on! It is a great fitting shoe, hopefully it has good longevity.

I was looking for an all around great training shoe that I could run outdoors with but also would be comfortable enough to wear around or in the gym. These are my favorite so far. The drawstring design makes them easy to get in and out of. I have noticed that when the ground is wet they slip a little but overall for an everything fitness shoe these rock!

These shoes rock! Bought them to run OCR events and haven't had a complaint about them yet. Nice snug fit, laces stay put, very aggressive tread that eats up snow, mud, and anything else I can throw at them. They rinse off well after being in the mud all day. Stable and true to size. Definitely my go to footwear when traction and comfort are necessary. Would recommend these to anyone in need of affordable,comfortable, aggressive, mountain taming footwear.
