Very nice shoes. The lugs are quite substantial though, and they catch on everything. Overall, this is a good thing because it results in very sure footing. But, it takes some getting used to. I also had to go up a half size (normally a 9, had to get 9.5) because they run a bit narrow. Obviously, because they are the best, Zappos swapped them out for free. :) Despite a thick looking sole, you actually do get some ground feel and the sole is somewhat soft (an advantage in my book). Love the debris guard and the lacing system is very comfortable. Would recommend.

Just used these shoes in a 5 mile mud run thought the hills of Larkspur, CO. They worked Great for grip in the mud and throughout the hills. They dried quickly and were nice and light. The only issue I had was when they were wet and you are running down hill, the in-sole will slip forward and bunch up under your toes. Not very comfortable. I am going to try and glue them down to take care of this. For this reason I can not give them a full five stars.

In general I love the shoes. However the interior side wall seems to have a point that pushes into my arch. I like the look and weight of shoes enough that I push through it and it has gotten better as I wear them. But it is a pain.

Great shoes. Super grippy in the snow/slush, but not on wet smooth cement, and very comfortable. I should have bought the Speedcross 3 CS instead since I found out that these aren't really water resistant at all. It got a little wet in the snow and it immediately got my socks wet. So if you are not into that, get the 3 CS because I assume those are more 'waterproofed'. I use them for mountain biking on rugged trails. I am also usually a size 10, but bought a 10.5 and it fit perfectly.

Great looking shoe. Very comfortable, very breathable, surprisingly lightweight. So far, the quality seems great. You can wear them all day. My only concern is with the sole. Once the lugs start to wear, I'm wondering if the traction will be insufficient. This is my first pair of Salomans, but likely won't be my last.

Bought the shoes to use for a mud race. Light and supportive. Have not received any blisters but feels different than my normal running shoes on the lower part of my big toe pads. Have not worn them on any long runs on pavement, but they have been real comfortable intervals (400m to 800m) on grass, turf, rubber track.

Excellent shoe. I'd give 5 stars across the board if it wasn't for two issues. 1) The shoe is designed and intended as a competition trail running shoe. In that singular focus category it is a 5 star. I wouldn't recommend for any other purpose. Went to Disney the other day and didn't want to wear sandals, had the speed-cross in the trunk so I through them on. Figure approximately 3 miles of light walking, but on pavement, and the there is significant tread wear. Enough to wear I only wear them on the trail - I won't wear them to put the trash out. The tread wears significantly on pavement. The only reason it's an issue is because the shoes are awesome in every other way - especially looks. They look awesome, and would be my go to shoe if it weren't for the excessive wear.

Love the quick zip ties, I need grip type shoes but not too much. I am a decoy for police dogs so I need to move fast. These shoes are lightweight with just the right amount of grip.

I love the look and feel of this shoe. Its super lightweight yet still provides good support and protection on the hiking trails. Unfortunately, within six weeks, I am already sending them back. I probably have put about 25-30 miles on them and about 8 of the knobby grips on the soles of the shoes are either missing or torn in half from coming in contact with rocks etc on moderate hikes. By the looks of the bottoms, you would think i was hiking on shards of glass.. not the case.

I wish I could give these a higher rating, but I just can't because of the way they fit. The toe box is extremely narrow, even for me and I have narrow, long toes and a narrow foot. They caused my toes to bunch up and ache, despite being adequately long enough and being the correct size. I am surprised that others haven't had an issue, because like I said, my foot is narrow so they should've been okay for me. Simply put, they are just too tight in the toe box.

These were my favorite shoes for running and then even casual wear, until the sole separated after about 6 months. I reached out to their customer service three times with no response. I will also note they are not a good choice for a tough mudder event as I still ended up with stones in my shoes and then they were difficult to remove as dirt would get into the cinch. When removing my socks there is something rubs on the top inside near the ankle. Think I may need to look somewhere else where the company at least stands behind their product.

They felt okay walking around in the house on the carpeted floor but after running in them, they turned out to be much narrower than any other trail running shoe I've bought. They are a bit longer too, but that is not an issue. The narrowness is a major problem. I've developed blisters on the bottoms of both big toes near my 2nd toe. I can not wear these shoes. Money down the drain. The pluses are: 1. they are very light, and 2. the unique lacing system makes lacing easy and they do not come unlaced during a run.

These are excellent shoes very comfortable, they give great support, have comfortable arches great for trail running, Mountain biking etc, etc. I wear these 24-7. The only issue is because they are very aggressive shoe the tread wears faster than normal treaded shoes.

The treads wore out way too fast for me. They need to be more durable. The soles were smooth after about a month and a half of every day hill and trail running. If somehow they could reinforce the treads with steel, that would be a great solution.

I've been very happy with Salomon's products up until now. I've owned four pairs of the Speedcross 3 and it's cousins the, ClimaShield. The lugs have worn very quickly with the latest pair, much quicker than previous pairs. I have not ran longer mileage and have lost weight so, I'm assuming that Salomon is using less durable materials. Very dissapointing.

Either this is a poor shoe or La Sportiva is light years ahead of Salomon. Prior to owning this shoe I had a pair of La Sportiva Raptors the grip was amazing on wood, rocks and anything else wet or dry. After reading a lot of the reviews about the Speedcross they seemed even better, boy was I disappointed. The only plus I have about the shoe is the soft landing, they do feel soft on the feet but other than that they were terrible. I recently took them for a 4 mountain run through the Whites and was amazed at how the grip was just not there. I will be buying another pair of La Sportiva Raptors in the near future because the only enviorment that I could see these shoes being ok for is dry, well groomed trails with very little obsticles and not much of an incline. Very disappointed.

I bought these because of the ruggedness, was using for a street festival for 5 days, on my feet 14/15 hours. After 3 days the soles broke and the cleats wore down. They lost all comfort and got out of shape. Would not recommend if you are hard on shoes. Maybe something like fashion or light trail running. Very disappointed, especially at this price.

First let me say they were comfortable shoes, but the whole pulley system laces is not what I expected. After 5 days of wearing them the lace broke which left me with a $130 pair of shoes I cannot wear.

I bought these because of the widely space traction blocks on the sole. I play disc golf on very rough terrain about twice a week for about three hours. It's mostly dry packed dirt with some sandstone and sparse weedy grasses on a top of a ridge with lots of ravines and hillsides off the fairways. I spend a fair amount of time trying to find my discs on the slopes and throwing off the sides of the ravines and hiking up and down the hilly terrain. I bought these shoes locally at a sporting goods store because I wanted to make sure of the size and comfort. I really liked the traction and the light weight of these shoes. It's now 7 months later and after two hand washings and about 5 or 6 hours a week of use the area under the large toe and inside area of the ball of the foot are worn though the sole. The sole is very thin under the traction lugs and the lugs are nearly down to the sole on ball of the foot and the center of the heel. I think these wouldn't last very long as running shoes but maybe none of them do these days. I'll be looking for something with a more durable sole to replace these trail runners.

I live in North Jersey and tried these shoes this November. For the first time I was disappointed in Salomon. It was not even raining, just a typical Jersey November mist in the woods. My feet were soaked in no time. The tops turned a darker gray to signify the water had gone right through. In no way are these sneaker water resistant in the slightest. But Zappos Customer service was outstanding.

I purchased these shoes in April and wore them for 3 races. While lacing up for the 4th race the lacing system broke forcing me to purchase a pair of Reebok trail shoes at the race for $$$.
When I called Salomon to complain about the lacing system I was treated with indifference by the customer service department and I was told they were simply sending me a new lacing system.
One month later no lacing system had arrived. I called back and customer service seemed annoyed that I even called back. My recommendation is to purchase a shoe that is lighter, does not hold water, and that the customer service stands behind.
I will not purchase any Salomon products from this day forward!
