20 mile trail run out of the box and they did great. Toe box is a bit wider than adidas or nike, which gave some hot spots on the forefoot, but cinching down very tight largely solved it. Performed very well in muddy conditions.

This is my 6th pair of Salomon Speedcross 3's. They are the best all around shoe I've had. I wear them almost everyday, I run in them for fun and competitively. I even ran in them for a 12k and Olympic Triathlon. Awesome, lightweight, comfortable shoes.

I had been running with Nike for the past 10 years and spent about 6 months looking for a good pair of these shoes to enhance my running experience. Finally bought them through Zappos! What a wonderful convenient shopping experience! The first pair felt big so I called and they shipped me a replacement pair whilst I was on the phone! Awesome stuff! Ran 10k with the new shoes yesterday, absolute bliss, I can't believe how wonderfully comfortable and an excellent fit the shoes are! They are absolutely awesome!

These are by far the best shoes I have bought in a long time. I've had my first pair for 2 years and finally had to buy a new pair because I wore them down too much. I didn't even hesitate to buy these shoes again. Definitely worth the money.

I've been using Salomon's for about 4-5 years and never looked back. These are the perfect shoes for motion control and pronators. It is my 3rd pair of this exact model and I run about 25-30 miles a week so I would listen to me. Seriously though, awesome shoes.

I replaced the 2014 version of the XA PRO 3d with these. I loved the grey color of those shoes but they only come in a much darker version and I did not like the other colors. I'm not running much any more but Salomon shoes are hands down the best athletic shoe I have ever worn. The tread on these are a little wiggly on hard surfaces when walking. You won't notice it when running. The toe box is a little tight. Otherwise the fit is spot on. I wear a 10.5 in everything and these fit perfectly. The Quicklace system is great. I can't speak to it from a fanatical runner perspective. Zappos rocks! Again.

I'm a true 10 1/2. Rarely, I go down to a 10. In these shoes, I had to buy 11. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the shoes especially with the fact that mud does not seem to collect in the treads.

I researched and purchased these shoes after wearing Salomon boots through this previous winter. The boots are the most comfortable things I've ever put on my feet. Some of the reviews about these shoes included comments about the narrow toes of the shoes. Those same reviews recommended purchasing a larger size due to the narrow toe. I purchased the same size I wear in the boot and had to exchange the shoes (thank you Zappos) for a pair one half size larger. The shoes are now my second favorite pair of footwear second only to the boots. The shoes are not only incredibly comfortable but also provide great support. Solomon may not be the most well known footwear maker in the world but it appears to be the best.

Great shoe! Hiked the south rim of the Grand Canyon a week after they arrived. No problems with blisters or with traction. I will definitely buy another pair when these are worn out.

If you're looking for Grass Volleyball Sneakers... these are the best ones I've ever tried. The comfort is amazing and the traction is hands down the best i've tried (without using bulky cleats).

These are absolutely the best pair of shoes I ever owned. I bought them for running 6 months ago, however I wear them as a casual shoe with jeans all the time...they are so comfortable. I am sure much of this is in my head, but I have had my fastest running time with these. They really hug (maybe I should say caress) your feet. I can't say enough about them - you won't be disappointed. I normally wear a 12.5 and the 12s fit perfect.

I have run consistently in Salomon XA Pro's since their introduction a decade or so ago. I normally run trails and recently decided that I should probably look for more appropriate footwear, as I tend to run more strenuous, treacherous trails than the XA s are really meant for: I wanted the added stability and confidence in step! I tried out both the Speedcross 3 and also the new Fellraisers. After playing with them both, I have decided on the Speedcross 3 over the Fellraisers. Here's my take and experience with them. I have what would be termed a Low-Volume foot I guess? Normal length, a bit narrow and just not that bulky. I have loved the XA Pros since I put them on, they were the best-fitting shoe I had ever worn bar-none. When I began trail running it was the occasional jaunt up some random hills, and the XA's were more up to the task than any other shoe I'd worn before! However, recently I have begun running more, and the old guys were showing their shortcomings as I have hit more technical trails. Also, as I got more technical, I had to start cinching them down more and more. I also went down a half-size to stop my foot from sliding forward on steep declines. I also started doubling up on socks! I bought and tried both the Fellraisers and Speedcross side-by-side. For my style of foot, the Speedcross reigns supreme for fitment. At a 10.5, I have more room to cinch down than the 10.5 XA Pros, and that's wearing my skinny socks compared to my thick running socks on the XAs! Comparatively, the Fellraisers needed an extra half-size to accommodate length; I was wearing a size 11 to avoid bashing my toes. However, they were not as snug everywhere else as the Speedcross 3: too much wiggle room at my heel and my toes. So if you have a narrow foot, Speedcross. If you have a wider foot, fellraisers may feel better (and add a half-size). The Fellraisers were not as strong in the lateral stability department either. They tended to want to roll my ankle pretty bad compared to the Speedcross. The Speedcross felt very stable, even considering they have a higher heel/toe ratio than the Fells and very similar tread design. After deciding on which was going to get the nod for trail duty, I set out to put the Speedcross through the paces! As I type this I have put down over 30 miles in them: a warmup 3 miler, a couple 5 s, and most recently a 20-mile run/hike. Grip-wise these things cannot be beat. They outclass my XAs so bad it s not funny. Places before I would have been slipping and sliding these things don't budge. And it's not that they feel drastically different or like they're going to break your ankles with grip, it's simply that they dig in and give you confidence in mucky terrain without much fanfare or thought. I had one small hotspot/blister on my left heel after my 20-mile trip which shouldn't be an issue more than once in my experience. other than that, these things are like wearing your feet, they are just so comfortable on the trails it's not funny. The tread is very grippy, the rubber itself is very soft. These are at home and definitely made for the trails, not the pavement. They feel very awkward on hard terrain like that, and I imagine the soft rubber will wear down quickly. While the fellraisers and speedcross have very similar tread patterns, I gotta give the nod to the fells. The rubber is a bit stiffer so it s less likely to tear and wear off, and the chevrons themselves seem a bit more aggressive than the Speeds sort of the evolution of the pattern! The toe on the Speedcross is a bit narrow but I did not find that I felt crowded at all. They look from the top down that they'd be a little laterally unstable compared to the XAs or Fells but that was not my experience. While I'd love to see the chevron pattern updated on the Speeds to match the new Fellraisers, overall I must say these are the my new favorite shoes. Period.

Fantastic shoes! Ready to run right out of the box, comfy, grippy as hell, hi-tech laces work great, and they look good too.

Seemed a bit narrow at first, but comfortable after a day or two. Prefer the tight fit for trail running. Really like them!

These are trail shoes, but I got them for running on snow. At first they seemed like a tight fit, but once I figured out that I needed to pull the tongue up, they were comfortable, if slightly snugger than my regular running shoes. I run in them only when there's snow but little or no ice; they provide excellent traction in those conditions (for ice I use slip-on spikes on my normal shoes). My longest run on them, 7K (4.5 miles), was comfortable. I've only used them a handful of times but they have been great on those occasions. My other running shoes are also neutral and, as with other athletic shoes, I got this a half size larger than my street shoes to allow for thicker socks and my feet swelling during a run.

This is my 2nd pair of SpeedCross 3 and I love them. I hike/run every morning with my 2 dogs for 3-4 miles over mostly rocky and hard packed soil in Southern California. These shoes are light, yet have outstanding grip. The sole pattern helps going uphill and downhill. The uppermesh material never gets too warm and does a great job at keeping the dirt and dust out. The shoe construction provides good support on uneven terrain and has protection on all the right spots to avoid getting hurt by sharp rocks. And the lacing system: once you used this smart and fast lacing system, you wonder how you ever lived without. I also used a pair of S-Lab Fellcross shoes. They were lighter than Speedcross, but somehow the sole lost its grip much faster. As if Salomon has used a softer compound for the sole. The knobs weared off really fast on the terrain I am hiking/running. I am sticking with Salamon SpeedCross.

Feels like I'm walking on sunshine! I love the look and feel of these shoes. One thing which was cool (not mentioned in description or video) was that the leftover shoe lace can tuck away in a pouch located at the top of the tongue area. Very convenient for having a clean and clutter-less exterior without laces flopping around.

Was looking for a lightweight trail running shoe I can put some serious mileage on in the mountain ranges around Las Vegas. I was not disappointed. The Speedcross 3 has the featherlight feel of an ultralight shoe, with the comfort and stability of stepping on sharp rocks like a mid boot. The outsole is ultra grippy, even on dusty boulders. I did the 8000 Meter Challenge in them (Mt Baldy, San Gorgornio, San Jacinto) all in one day, and I had no issues. My feet get blisters from every shoe I use, so I can't contribute much to potential hotspot wear. The lacing system is fast and light. If I had to improve one thing about the design, I wish the heel stopped a little shorter up my foot. Wearing "no-see" socks has the potential to rub the back of your heel raw. And as long as there's dirt on these shoes, you'll look like a bonafide badass.

I wore these for a Spartan Sprint down in Kiln, MS on 8 Nov. The shoes held up very well on various surfaces as advertised. A few of my training partners will probably switch over to Salomon in the near future. Well made shoe and quick on point service from Zappos!

These are great shoes. I use them for 3 Gun and the grip is amazing in the turns! They run small on me though. I need at least 1 size larger maybe 2 sizes?

Great shoe. Lots of grip. It runs narrow which for me is good as a have an "A" width. However, I ended up needing one full size larger than I normally wear in Merrells.

These shoes rock, but definitely run narrow, which is good for me. I have a low volume foot, and sandals and clogs always fall off. I do have long toes, so it makes it difficult to find something that feels snug around my mid-foot, but is also long enough for me. I had to go a half size up to make them comfortable. But they hold my mid-foot and heel incredibly well.
The quick laces are great. It took me a little while to figure out that the tongue actually has a little pocket in it to store the extra lace and the plastic tog that holds the laces tight.
I've received multiple compliments on these. They look great, feel great, and fit my narrow foot. I'm very happy.
