Love, love, love these boots. At the price, they are one of the most expensive pairs I've purchased, but I am now thinking about going back for another color, since I'm almost certain I'll have them for many years. Solidly built, as you can expect from Frye's, comfortable and super cute. The zipper in back increases the cost a little bit, but I think it's worth it. I got the antique black, which is lovely. I wore them to a concert right out of the box -- no issues whatsoever, and am planning to make them a central part of my upcoming trip to Europe in which I'll be walking a lot. A bit of a splurge purchase, but these are going to get a LOT of use by me!

These are beautiful and fabulous! Bought the black early and am so happy with them. Can't wait to wear them.

Amazing boots! I finally purchased my first pair of Frye boots and I love them. I have a wide foot and these fit perfect. The back zip and button is great looking. I would recommend Frye boots to anyone!

These boots are fabulous! Thank you Frye for making a tall boot with a back zip. I have a high arch and the fact that these zip all the way down, makes them so easy to slip on! I do have a narrow to average width foot, so I would not recommend these to someone with a wide foot. I normally wear a size 6 but I sized up to a 6.5 and I am glad I did. This way I will be very comfortable with a heavy sock or tights.

These boots are fabulous! They are comfortable right from the start. The zipper on the back looks great and makes for easy on/off. I would definitely buy another pair of Frye boots.

These boots are wonderful, the leather is a very good quality and soft, the color is perfect and very comfortable. Recommend highly!

Love these boots! I wear a 7.5 and ordered a 7.5, they fit perfectly! Not tight around the calf and look great with skirts, dresses, leggings and jeans.

Firstly, I had been admiring Frye boots for years before finally breaking down and buying the Melissa button back zip (wine red) and I'm glad I did. It has taken me a while to get past the price because I'm in college but the truth is the color is a beautiful dark wine color that is so unique and stylish. The boots are real leather and will not only last forever but will conform to your feet. I try not to listen to people with size on shoe websites so I ordered my normal size 6.5 and though the boots are tight with socks I know they'll fit beautifully soon enough. I also really recommend this pair of Frye boots if you have athletic calves because the zipper is great for helping get them on and allowing you to tuck in pants (people make it sound like if you're an athlete you can't wear Fryes but I can wear these with even flare jeans tucked in so ignore that comment from people all together). If you're on the fence like I was get them and be pleasantly surprised, the only negative I'll say is that so many people talk about getting shoes overnight or within a day or two from Zappos but mine took over a week so don't get too excited about that.

these boots are gorgeous!!! i love them but after trying them on about 10 times they just aren't going to work for me. I'm 5'4" and these hit me right at the bottom of my knee, they touch my knee and maybe they'd soften up and wouldn't rub but they make me look very short. My calf is 13" and they are just too wide. They are a great price for such a beautiful boot but i just can't justify keeping them, for someone else they will truly be perfect!

Great fit and style. My only issue is that the snaps don’t always stay snapped and then the jingle a little while walking.

I'm sadly returning these boots. The description says 14" circumference for a size 8 and is listed under narrow shaft, however in a size 10 these boots are 17 1/2 " wide. That's really much wider than I would expect. The listing should be changed. The fit of these boots seem to be normal, just the description doesn't match the merchandise.

Good looking boot, but zipper is stiff. Soles look as though boot has been worn, esp. on rt. boot.

Love these boots. True to size. A little hard to get your foot in. I have regular size calves and they fit snug with a pair of jeans in them so if you wear wide valve I wouldn't suggest. The leather and craftsmanship is really nice.

The boots are beautiful! Very classy looking. But too stiff and tight for my feet (I have bunions).

I looked at lots of FRYE boots before settling on these. The zipper was important to me which ruled out a lot of shoes. I was worried about the boot circumference being too narrow but it was actually perfect on me, they fit snug without cutting off blood circulation (I'm a size 6 in jeans, 5'6" approx 135 lbs for reference). The biggest con to these boots is that the clasps come undone pretty easily if you cross your legs or otherwise do anything more than just walk but I haven't found it to be an issue. I'd say I have to re-clasp them 4-6 times a day if I wear them all day. These boots were great right out of the box and super comfy!

Boot well made but I like a softer leather. They were a bit stiff and I didn't like how the leather bunched at ankle. I also wanted a boot with a more pointed toe (without looking like a cowboy boot). Ended up buying Nine West Nicolah. Thanks Zappos for making shopping easy!

I purchased these boots in my normal size 9. Unfortunately, I wasn't even able to get them on my feet to truly assess the size/comfort. With the back zipper not going all the way to the bottom & the stiffness of the new leather, I could not get my foot into the boot. I thought I would tear apart my heel trying to show it past the edge of the zipper. The color and style of the boot was excellent so I might try again with a size zipper style. Thank you Zappos for the easy return process.

This is a truly gorgeous boot that is well made and could almost be an heirloom - the leather quality and stitching is that nice. But the calf is so narrow I could not even zip them up my legs, which are about 15 inches at the widest. I'm sad to return these! Also, they are like a true cowboy boot on the bottom, meaning they are straight leather with no traction. You'd probably want to purchase a sticky gripper for the boot bottom.

Ordered for my daughter for Christmas, so she has not received them yet. I am somewhat disappointed in the packaging and the boot I received from Zappos, though. First of all, they did not come in the original Frye box, just a generic brown shoe box. Next, the boot, especially one, has obviously been tried on a bit because there is a good bit off wrinkles in the leather and there are spots/indentures on the bottom of the boot where it was walked in. I have not sent the, back because I'm afraid I won't get a replacement in time for Christmas. They should not be delivered from Zappis unless they are in an original Frye box. When giving a gift to someone, you do not want to give $300 boots in a generic box. Very disappointed, Zappos!

This boot works decently for smaller calves. I am 5'8, 115 lbs and my calves have a 12 inch circumference. It's very hard to find boot shafts that work. I've gotten very lucky in the past with some Stuart Weitzmans that measured 12.75". The Melissa Button Back Zip measures 14" and isn't bad. I wear them with skinny jeans and there is probably a 1.25" gap at the top. My narrow foot felt great in these, so I am thinking they run a little on the narrow side. My ankle doesn't slip either. Since the gap isn't significantly large and since the boot itself is so classic, stylish and comfortable, I am keeping the boots. I received compliments the first day I wore them :) I am usually either a size 7 or 7.5 in Frye boots and kept the 7.5 in these.

Extremely difficult to put on. The leather is very stiff. I assume it would soften up a lot and maybe even be the best boot ever. But I don't have time to wait for that to happen. Seems like very high quality leather.

I love these boots but 1 of the 4 snaps will not stay snapped which is annoying when you pay this amount for boots. The leather is amazing, the fit is great but that one snap...

These boots are beautiful. Unfortunately though, right out of the box they are not comfortable for me. I'm hoping I can break them in because the leather and quality is top notch. Well worth the price; especially if you take care of them properly. A local shoe store stretches boots so I may try that as well. I'm a runner with I guess larger than average calves so the shaft of the boot is fairly snug, especially if I wear them with skinny jeans. But overall I love the boot and am hoping I can make it work.

When it comes to boots (and really all shoes), you do get what you pay for. I've struggled for years to find a good quality boot with classic styling and FINALLY, these are IT. For all the $129 deals I've gotten over the years, I could have saved myself a lot of time and money and just paid more for what will really last! I'm a little sad that they don't have more arch support, but they are really beautiful quality and I know they're built to last. Very excited!
