These are fantastic boots! I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect flat boots and it was worth the wait. These look perfect with skinny jeans (even my bright red pair) or a skirt. I am a bit of a boot purest and was hesitant to get a pair with a zipper but these are classy and worth it for the slimmer fit. With Fryes superior quality and style I know I can wear these forever! I highly recommend the Melissa Button Back Zip!

I chose the fawn color after a ton of color debating. Zappos was amazing enough to put up with my indecision! So I thought the cognac was too red for me and the dark brown vintage was nice but a little too shiny and uniform in color. I felt like they looked a tad too fancy for what I wanted. The fawn is gorgeous and I like how the color varies a bit from the top to the bottom of the boot. There is an olive tint to the brown which is unique and goes fabulously with black outfits and all other colors as well. I have 3 other pairs of Frye boots and these fit the same. My foot is an 8.5 or 9 and always 8.5 in Frye. Hope that helps!

Beautiful leather, great fit. I have a hard time finding boots that aren't too big on my calf, and these fit the bill. Brown color pair goes well with many things. These have become more comfortable as time has gone on.

Nice boots. I found the zipper style fit better than the pool on style of the Melissa Button. Tighter around the ankle so less sliding up and down of my foot when I walk. Very comfortable.

This is a great classic book with a bit of bling in the back exposed zipper. The boots are super comfy. At first the memory foam heel insert seemed limpy, but it soon conformed to my foot making the boot really comfortable. I find it holds to use a shoe horn to put them on so the metal zipper does not snag my tights or socks. True to size with tights or a thinner sock. A great find!

I have never, ever experienced such lusciousness in footwear! Out-of-the-box these boots hugged my brutalized "11's" and promised never to forsake. My bunion pressed gently on the right and I've positioned a shoe tree in the area for aesthetic allowance. I could dance all night in these boots right now, but I intend to enter this relationship properly. I will customize the right while awaiting delivery of the Conditioning Cream I just ordered to keep these beauts primed for the long haul.

Received these boots as a Christmas present and they are beautiful. The leather is thick and supple in a very beautiful color. The simple style is perfect for me and as I have a high instep the back zipper is a must. Wore them walking through the city, all over, all day for several days and they still look brand new. Feet a little the first time I wore them but were fine after that. The only negative comment would be that the two snaps in the back of the boot occasionally come unsnapped if I cross and uncross my legs or brush them across a chair or something.

After doing some serious shopping I bought Frye boots for my wife for Christmas. She is very particular about her footwear, she buys only the best sneakers and shoes and she was very pleased with with these boots. They ran true to size, are both comfortable and supportive, she loves them! This Christmas I did well.

Love these boots! The burnished leather look is perfect and they're very well made. I have 2 pairs of Frye boots and they never disappoint in quality. Will definitely buy many more!

These boots are dreamy! Look great, feel great. I have an average-sized calf and they zip snugly and smoothly.

Hands down the best boots ever! After wanting to buy a pair of Fryes for a long time, I finally bit the bullet and purchased these. And I am so glad I did! The black soft vintage leather is beautiful, they fit my calves perfectly, and are comfortable. The zipper makes them super easy to get on and off, and adds a cute detail. I chose the zipper back over the regular Melissa button because I think they look a little less cowgirl and more like classic riding boots. I've had people tell me they have been wearing their same pairs of Frye boots since the '70s, so I'm happy to know that even if they were pricey I can plan on having them for years to come. If you have the money available and have been undecided on whether they are worth it- go for it!! You will not regret it.

These are beautiful. The grey antique is even more gorgeous in person. If you have thick calves (17") don't even bother. The zipper and button are sturdy. I had to send them back due to the fact that I couldn't get them over my calves. The will fit nicely around a 16" for sure. Oh and I wear a size 11 shoe.

I bought these in the Antique black for my daughter for Christmas who loves Frye boots. She had tried on the Melissa button at a department store and could not get them on without a zipper. She tried a boot horn and going up a size but after struggling for over 15 minutes, she gave up. She was so disappointed because she really wanted a pair with this popular style. I was so excited when I found the Melissa button on Zappos with the back zip. I ordered them immediately and oh, what a surprise on Christmas day for my daughter! She had resigned to the fact that the Melissa button wasn't going to happen for her. Also, she is 5'1" and 110 lbs. She has a size 5 1/2 foot and she couldn't even get a 6 on without the zipper. I wouldn't consider her to have a high instep, but it was high enough that she could not get them on without the zipper. So happy for this back zip style - made for a very happy girl Christmas morning.

I love these boots because they are so comfortable and seem to mold to my foot, my only concern is with the snaps at the bottom and top which are kind of a hassle to snap but add some flair!

Beautiful boot. My daughter normally wears a 7.5-8, but she could not get her foot in the boot. They were exquisite, I am a 7.5 as well and could not get them on.

These boots are totally BOSS! Super comfy, easy to get on, easy to dress up or down an outfit. Absolutely love them! Now if only Frye would make more of their boots with a zipper for those of us with high arches that can't maneuver the pull on kind.

These boots live up to the previous rave reviews! They are very comfortable (after about 2 days of break-in period) and the leather is soft and beautiful. One caution if you order the fawn color-it almost has an olive tone to it, but I found that I liked it. Great boots!

If you have thin calves these boots are for you. I have a difficult time finding boots that fit my small legs. These boots look an feel awesome. I get compliments every time I wear them. Thank you Zappos for allowing me to put in the measurements of my calf and solve my problem with these amazing boots. I love Zappos.

Love these boots! They take a few wears to break in, but the leather is beautiful, and the craftsmanship is excellent. My only issue is that I'm super-short, so they come up a little higher on my calf than I'd like.

I love these boots! I bought them in cognac and the color is gorgeous (not as red as it looks online)and so neutral I can wear it with blacks and browns. I bought it in my true size of 8.5 and the fit is perfect. I wore them all day with no discomfort and the smell of the leather is amazing! I had some strikes before I received the perfect pair but ZAPPOS excellent customer service resolved things quickly and got me this perfect pair within a couple days. I purchased two other pairs first...the Frye Melissa button boot which I liked but felt that it looked a little too cowboy for my taste, and second, I purchased these but in the Fawn color. I received the Fawn in a day which was great but the left boot was obviously worn already and showed marks and scratches and also was torn in the footbed slightly. I was so disappointed when I received them and called Zappos immediately. The man I spoke to on the phone was very apologetic and helpful. I also was not completely in love with the color so I asked if I could change it to the cognac. He put the order in immediately, sent out the cognac, and asked that I mail back the fawn color within two weeks. I got the cognac color on my doorstep the next day and they were perfect! This is why I will continue to shop at Zappos....they are AWESOME! Love my new perfect boots. Buy them and you won't regret it!

This is a beautiful boot. The photo doesn't do it justice. The photo looks hard and rough but the leather is really soft and supple...not so much as to slouch...and very lovely. I have very thin calves (12 in...) so of course these didn't fit but the zipper in the back will make them easier to alter according to my cobbler. I have been looking for boots that fit my calves forever and have decided to take a chance on these. They are a simple ,wonderful boot and even though it's scary to play around with a boot this expensive it's either go for it or spend the rest of my life looking. I'm going to go for it and hope for the best. The boot is definitely worth it. I'll let you know how it comes out.

I am a 7 M in regular shoes but in boots I am a 6 1/2M. These boots are fabulous!

To put it simply, I LOVE these boots. I always like to keep a pair of boots on my mental wish list. This gives me something to look for as I journey through my life. With these boots, I'm satisfied for the moment. Of course, until the next pair. I think they will be another pair of Frye boots. From the first moment I put these boots on, they fit perfectly. The leather is so comfortable and soft, forming to my feet and calves as I wear them. I did not need to break them in. They are easy to put on with the back zipper and inside loops. I do not find that the zipper catch as others have described. The only difficulty I notice with these boots is the upper button. Since I tend to cross my legs when I sit, the button does create an extra pressure against my leg, which can feel uncomfortable if I am sitting for a long time. Regardless, I highly recommend these boots. They will definitely be my go to boot for walking long distances. Now for my next pair...

Frye boots are definitely the type of boots that will last for years to come! The riding boot style of this boot is a classic. They take some breaking in but are definitely worth it.
