These boots are simply beautiful! The quality of the leather and workmanship is top notch and the fit is perfect. I have the dark brown color which I love. I think they run a little big and the half size lower than my usual size fit me better. I am petite at 5'3 and they hit me at just the right spot below the knee. I live in a warm climate so I have only gotten to wear them a few times so far, but when I have, they definitely turn heads. I have worn them with a skirt and with skinny jeans tucked in and they look awesome with both. They are very versatile boots and can be dressed up or down. I had also tried the plain Melissa Button boots, and they are also darling, but I found they look a little too cowgirl for my tastes. These are a more classic riding boot style in my opinion. They are totally worth the price and will stay in style and last for years!

I have been wearing Frye boots for years. I love the fact that not only are they made of beautiful leather on the outside, but they are completely lined with leather on the inside, making for a top quality, comfortable boot. The Melissa Back Zip is adorable! It has a great shape to it unlike most normal boots which seem to go straight up and down. These boots follows the contour of a leg, zipper and all! I got the fawn color which turned out to be exactly what I wanted. It reminds me of the color I see on many of the riding boots featured with jeans in some of the trendy magazine ads. It is kind of a neutral brown, not too dark, with a antiqued, weathered flair to it. I just love the color and finish of these boots! The 7½ was a perfect fit and as many have mentioned, comfortable right out of the box. Perhaps the most striking feature about these boots is their simplicity. They do not need all kinds of belts and buckles to look cool. They are classy, understated and elegant in a rustic sort of way. I cannot wait to zip these over my jeans tomorrow!

Just got these (dark brown brush off) and the Paige Tall Riding boots (also dark brown brush off) in the mail today. I couldn't decide between these two when returning my original order of the Melissa Button. The Melissa Button had been on my MUST HAVE list for years and my husband finally got them for me for Christmas this year. Huge disappointment. First off, they are impossible to get on. I was laying on the floor pulling and wiggling with all my might, and finally (covered in sweat) I got them on. Not flattering at all!! They are a gorgeous boot, don't get me wrong....but they just dont do that amazing leg lengthening thing that you want tall boots to do! I think its the curvy top and the fact that they could stand to be taller. Anyway, I read reviews for the Melissa Button Back Zip and the Paige Tall Riding boot and couldn't decide between the two so I ordered both and will be keeping the Melissa Button Back Zip!!! They are GORGEOUS!! I think they're better looking than the regular Melissa Button. They make my legs look so much longer and skinnier and the boot has a very sleek look! The Paige Tall are also incredibly gorgeous and are pull on but are MUCH easier to get on than the Melissa button and even the melissa button back zip, but they just aren't AS sleek and structured. They have a more slouchy and casual look which I'd totally be in to but I already have a pair of boots that fits that description...so back they go! The zipper on the Melissa Button back zip makes them much easier to get on than the Melissa button but there is still a bit of wiggling and pulling required but I'm sure that will ease with time. You seriously can't go wrong with this boot and the dark brown brush off is a gorgeous and timeless color that will go with any outfit! They are even dark enough to go nicely with black but aren't too dark to not fit the bill of a brown boot. Buy these!

Hands down, I love these boots. Easy to get into, very comfortable wearing for long periods (I have 2 kids, one is a toddler, so comfort is imperative). Dressy enough to go with skirts, looks great with jeans -- fits over skinny's and even straight legs. Definitely worth the price as I plan to have these well-made boots for some time to come.

Gorgeous boots! Good quality, durable leather that wears beautifully. Back button details (actually snaps) are a nice touch accenting the otherwise clean and sleek design. I have slim calves and usually have difficulty finding tall boots that don't have a lot of extra space around the shaft. These are a perfect fit!

Excellent fit right out of the box. I bought the gray colored boots, which one reviewer dubbed greige...a perfect description. This color will go with anything. The fit is narrow on the leg (I have 14"/14.5" calves), which was a must for me. I can't tell you how many boots I've loved and tried on, only to look as if I had my legs stuck in buckets. I can wear medium-thick knee socks and the rear zip snugs up just right. I'm not sure how frequently the two snaps on each boot will become unsnapped, but be aware that this can happen. Even though it does not affect wear, you will hear it. I love how this boot is casual and trim, not slouchy (stiffer leather on the shaft) and not really "western" in the usual way because I already have boots like that. This is sort of an urban, paired-down riding boot that could be motorcycle/western.

These boots are amazing! I bought Frye boots a while ago (1999) and they were amazing too. Then I bought two pairs of Frye (last year and two years ago) that were less impressive from a quality standpoint. These new boots are terrific, excellent quality. Made in Mexico, which may be the reason for the improvement? Anyway, I always have taken a 7 in Frye boots and I had to return these for 7.5. The footbed was too tight.

Quality varies, (I own 3 other Frye boots). I originally got a size 8 though needed a 8.5. The 8 was beautiful! The 8.5 is not the same boot as the 8. I don't think Frye should have sent this pair out the door. The Zipper is not very straight making it harder to zip up. What if it breaks? Additionally, the leather is not black antique soft but too much antiquing or ruined by water or? May try another 8.5. Frye used to be made in US, (as for high cost), now made in Mexico. I know there is excellent craftsmanship by people in Mexico and nothing against all of you in or from Mexico. I think the guy/gal was just learning on my boot, or something. Also for Frye, for the price I wish you offered this boot with a taller shaft height of 16.5 or 17 inches. More so Frye, hope the people who made my boot in Mexico are making a decent wage.

I got the Black Antique Soft Full Grain color (not the shiny Soft Vintage) in size 6. I just received them today (it's really hot out and maybe that affected my legs/feet/the boot) I tried them on with my bare legs and no socks and it was a little difficult to zip my calves in, but they eventually fit snugly. I hope that I can still fit in the boots if I wear jeggings and thin socks... hopefully it'll stretch out with a few wears.I'm usually a size 6 and these fit great. The leather is really nice and the style is simple and classic yet sophisticated. It is very plain from the front, but the zipper and buttons in the back make it special. The boots are comfortable out of the box. I was worried the zipper in the back may hurt my ankle on the inside (I have sensitive feet and get blisters way too easily), but no problems, even without socks. According to the other reviews, Frye boots get comfier with every wear, so I hope that's the case with mine too!

These are beautiful boots! They run true to size and the color is beautiful. It is between a brown and a gray so they look good with black or brown. They are more of a classic riding look than the photo indicates. The snaps at the top come unsnapped when you cross your legs, but that is not too annoying, and it does not compromise the fit or look or anything when they are not snapped. They are super slippery when you first buy then, so be careful until you scuff the soles a bit. They are worth every penny!

First, these are not 15" circumference where you need it. My calves measure 14 to 14.25" and I could not zip these up. I always size up in Frye's to allow for extra room, and despite doing that these still didn't fit. Sigh... Style/design etc is nice. And I loved the fact these are easy on-off for Frye's due to the zipper. But these are cut narrow. I was so sad to send these back. Ladies with the skinny legs - these are for you!

I love these boots! I struggled with which Fryes to buy and initially I bought the Dorado riding boot. These, although beautiful, were ridiculously too tall and too big around the calf. These Melissa Button Zips are perfect for someone with an average sized calf. The color is amazing -- very unique. Although they are described as being gray, they are more like a brownish-gray. I find the color is quite neutral and they go with any color, even black. The padded sole makes them very comfortable. I usually wear a 7 1/2 to 8 and I got these in a 7 1/2 and they fit great with a little room to spare. I highly recommend these boots!

Love my Frye boots! I ordered a size 8 and they fit true to size with a nice slim fit over the calf. The vintage brown colour is rich and dark and looks fab with anything from jeans to black tights and skirt! Classic. So far, no issues with the back snaps.

I cannot say enough good things about these boots! They are comfortable, they fit perfectly (I normally wear a 7 and that is what I ordered) and they go with everything ranging from dresses to jeans. I was concerned because I could not zip them up at first, but the calf area stretched a bit after two or three wears. I would love to have two or three or four pairs! Trust me, you will fall in love just like I did...

These are absolutely fabulous boots. I got them in the gray color - more of a dark gray/brown. Very unique color indeed. Goes with black and brown and jeans very well. There is a bit of room in the ankle area where it bags a bit if you plan to wear them with tights or leggings. But the bagginess is there to allow room for jeans, so you don't get the circulation cut-off around the ankle because you had to fold your jeans into the boots. You do have to unbutton both the top and bottom buttons to get the boots on and off properly, otherwise it is a very tight if not impossible fit to get your foot into the foot-bed. I am usually a 7.5 or 7 in sandals etc. I had to exchange the 7.5 for a 7. I have super skinny calves and ankles and these fit wonderfully. There is still a bit of room throughout the shaft of the boot, but it isn't bad. The foot-bed has some padding, nothing like born boots but they are comfortable enough. These will last a long long time and are an amazing investment. I will say the arch-support isn't really there, instead the heal has almost a cupping to it, and the lip of the cup is what give you a very strange arch-support. More than happy to get used to that factor.

I love these boots! I purchased the dark brown vintage leather which is a rich, smooth, dark brown. The other brown is more grainy/casual. I normally wear a size 7½ but returned them for a size 7 which fit perfectly so I would say they run large. I also have very narrow calves (11") and I had to have them altered but now they fit like a glove. They are very comfortable.

I normally wear a 7.5-8. I bought these boots in a 7 and they are perfect! They are snug at first but they do stretch out. The zipper will irriate you in thw ankle after a while So i just wear longer Socks I'm super picky and I love the look of these. The buttons do unsnap occasionally but I think they just need to be streached a little like everything else. All in all I love them. Just wish summer wasn't so close now! Too me all winter to find these. :/

Bought these boots about a month ago - very stylish, chic riding boot. Comfortable - seems true to size. I am usually an 8.5 to 9. Ordered a 9 in these (like to wear heavier socks in winter) & they fit great. Especially like the back zip detail.

Love these boots! I have slightly wide feet and slightly larger than normal calves and they fit perfectly, even over skinny jeans. Because of my slightly wide feet I ordered my regular size instead of a half size down as is suggested for Frye boots. They're comfortable right away and super easy to get on and off due to the zipper. If they ever go on sale, I will definitely buy another pair! I think after they're broken in I may add a good insole for enough arch support to wear if I'm walking around all day; as they are they're fine for walking to/from work in the city, wearing all day in the office, or wearing out at night and standing at a bar for several hours. Love them.

Love these boots! Had great reviews and I was not disappointed. Tight at first, but loosened up quickly. They may have fixed the snap/button issue. Mine were hard to snap at first, but also got easier with time. Had have them for a month and wear them often. Very comfortable. Sturdy boots, but also need to be careful with them.

I just got these boots today, and they are so beautiful (in the antique grey color) and they smell like a new car. I'm looking forward to a long life together. If you have the money on hand, order two pairs at once so that you can compare sizes with different socks. I mean why not, with free shipping and returns?

Perfect, Beautiful, Gorgeous. I have looked for this boot for two years and have finally found it. My third pair of Frye boots and I've never looked back. If you are considering these in the black, snap them up if you find them, there's a reason they don't stick around for long.

I am very happy with these. I wear 7.5 or 8 and ordered a 7.5, which fit well. The shape is just what I was looking for--close fitting, but not too snug. The only issue I have, which I've also had with a pair of Frye shoes, is that they are a little tight on top of my foot. Perhaps they will stretch as I wear them (I've only worn them twice).

This is the first product review I've ever written, but these boots are cool! I've had some nice riding boots in the past and I'm picky about quality, fit and style. The gray is an unusual brown-gray and they are a bit shorter than is typical, which I like. Unlike other people, I think the shaft and ankle are roomy enough for skinny jeans or leggings. The snaps and zipper in the back give it a more casual, biker feel as opposed to your classic riding boot. There is a gel insert that cups the heel but is a little off in the arch. However, it doesn't bother me. The leather is buttery soft and the quality is definitely what I would expect from a Frye boot. These are a classic that I will wear for years to come. Well done, Frye!

LOVE THESE! I was so worried about ordering them because I have bunions and I thought that they would be uncomfortable. They were a little tight when I first put them on, but they loosened up quickly. I get tons of compliments on them and they are definitely a great investment purchase.
