I am trying to find hiking shoe for my arthritic feet. These ran a little small. I may try a larger size in the future. I love the look and the idea that they are waterproof - perfect for dog walking in the rain. Thank you, Zappos for making shopping for shoes easy! Try these if looking for a hiking shoe but you might want to order a half size larger.

Bought these for a two-week hiking tour in Ireland and wore them only for a few hours of break-in prior to the trip. These were excellent during the whole trip - I wore them every day for 3-5 miles of walking on all sorts of terrain, including some boulder hopping (for which high-tops are better, of course) and developed no blisters or hotspots. The tread is great, they are lightweight and easy to lace up. I am a true Narrow but there is enough lacing play that these worked fine for me. I tested the waterproofing in a shallow stream. The comfort insoles are fantastic. Highly recommend!

Perfect replacement for Merrell's discontinued Chameleon Arc 2 hikers. Really comfortable, light and trail ready from the start. The fit is almost between M and W in the toe, a bit wider than other Merrell hikers. I size up one half size and wear a light to medium trail sock, depending on the distance or terrain. The Moab hikers were very water resistant on a recent rainy vacation hiking in Canada. But a walk through really wet grass at home left my feet sooaked. Probably through the mesh part. So waterproof performance not as good as the Arc 2. Style choices were disappointing. Merrell should offer these in the muted brown/green or grey/blue of past hikers and save the funky stuff for town shoes. But finding a good fit in a Merrell hiker after four pairs of Arc 2s is worth the ugly styling.

Boots felt great on my first day out hiking. We hiked nearly 3 miles and my feet were fine. Extremely comfortable with plenty of room in the toe box. In running shoes I wear size 7.5 and I ordered size 7 in these and they are perfect, so they do run smaller than street shoes. I usually wear 6 in street shoes.

From the moment I put on these shoes, they felt great. I do a lot of walking with my job and had been having foot pain. I haven't had hardly any since wearing these shoes. They are very waterproof also. I am going to buy another pair soon.

Came quickly. Wrong size. They sent replacement without 1st returning shoe. Shoe is very comfortable out of the box.

I've never been one to purchase this type of shoe so I claim no expertise on hiking/outdoor shoes but these are truly excellent! I haven't tested them on an all-day hike yet but they have held up great on the several hour walks/hikes in the canyon so far. What I love most is that they are light on your feet. I usually wear an 8 or 8.5 in most shoes and chose these in an 8.5 to accommodate socks. The 8.5 definitely works but I probably should have gone with a 9 if I really wanted a lot of room. I'll stick with my 8.5's as so far they haven't hurt my toes at all. I even appreciate the more feminine design of these shoes. It's a nice touch.

Oh, so comfy and secure, with a very attractive look. I love this pair. I recommend going up a half size larger. I always wear size 7 shoes, but when it comes to this pair, size 7 was a little too tight and short, for my feet. I exchanged to size 7.5 and fits perfectly. You do not have to break in this shoe; it is ready for you right out of the box. You can change your shoes but not your feet, so go for this shoe.

Before ordering I had tried these shoes on in REI and they were everything I was looking for, Vibram sole, waterproof, attractive, and they appeared to be a good fit and they are but after about a two hour hike I noticed a little rubbing on the back of my ankle and by the time the hike ended I had a blister. Other then that they are a true to size. I am hoping the pair of Wrightsocks that I have since purchased will remedy this situation.

Great shoes! Super comfortable and no break in time. Wore them right out of the box on a hike with my dog. Great for women with back and feet problems!

I absolutely loved these shoes but the right shoe was really loose in the heel. They feel so comfortable and well made plus the bottom of the shoe feels really rugged and solid. These shoes would be good for short hikes this summer out in Montana but I had to return because I couldn't get the right shoe tight enough. Maybe another size 9 would have felt differently.

Perfect shoes for working outside all day. I am a horticulturist on my feet in varying conditions all day long. These shoes are extremely supportive, take me from 7 AM to 5 Pm in total comfort. Waterproof a huge plus, wet grass, puddles from a rain storm, these shoe allow freedom to walk where ever and when ever. Huge plus is they are attractive.

Ordered several pairs of merrell hiking shoes to try and these were by far the most comfortable. Went on a moderately long hike and wore these right out of the box with thick hiking socks with no problems. Fit is true to size (I'm a 10 1/2 or 11). Would definitely recommended for the recreational hiker.

Love these hikers! I have tried other street type walking shoes for vacations and I always end up with blisters and can't do all the walking I would like. This time I decided to buy these and reserve them for times such as these, i.e. not hike with them so they stay nice looking. Very happy with them; supportive and comfortable and I think they look great with jeans or shorts.

These shoes were comfortable from the moment I put them on! I have been wearing them constantly while traveling in New Zealand. They are nice looking, too, and not real bulky. I would highly recommend them.

I walk my dogs every morning and wanted a warm walking shoe that was waterproof so I could walk through snow and not have my feet freeze - these are exactly what I was looking for! Great support too.

I am out in the rain and mud everyday during the fall, winter and spring walking dogs and always in need of great waterproof shoes. These are excellent. Comfortable with a super grip sole (no slipping) and my feet are dry. I have owned Merrells before and they do last a long time, so I am expecting that with these, too.

Very comfortable, great fit for my size 10 foot, however was looking for something for a bit more roomy in order to fit my new foot brace. Found what I was looking for in a pair of Keen's

Love them. I tried many pairs of hikers, including others from Merrell, before settling on this pair. Definitely order 1/2 size up. They feel solid and supportive. They are kind of wide, and have a smidgen of that "puppy dog paws" quality, but it's not too bad. IMO, they are cute and it's better than being too narrow. Have not yet tested the waterproofing, so I hope that's good!

Very comfortable shoe from the moment I tried it on. Would highly recommend this shoe for city walks or urban hikes!

I needed a pair of waterproof, comfortable shoes for an upcoming trip to Antarctica and the South Georgia islands. I tried at least 6 different shoes - this one finally worked. Right out of the box they were comfortable and fit perfectly. They are stylish, light (nice for packing) and I think will be perfect. I've only worn them walking in wet weeds, and so far so good.

My first impression of these shoes out of the box were that they were very high quality. Once I put them on, what a difference from ballet flats! I love how the shoe feels like it cradles my feet. I even walk differently in them-in a good way. Due to a health condition I tend to flex my toes too much on my left foot which makes them incredibly sore all the time. The footbed on these shoes offers just the right amount of stiffness and flex to stop that problem. I also have high arches. No issue here! They are very comfortable. I wear a size 8 in tennis shoes and an 8 fit perfect. I highly recommend them.

I love my new Merrill's. I bought them for a hiking trip in Maine and they were comfortable right off the bat with no breaking in necessary. The toebox is generous and they were warm, dry and comfortable!

I love these shoes! I was hesitant to purchase on line without trying the shoes on first, but after reading all of the reviews and my roommate telling me he loved his Merrell's I decided to take a chance. I got a 1/2 size larger than my actual size based on other reviews and I'm glad I did. First day out of the box I walked over 4 miles with no problems at all. They are very comfortable, they don't slip around and move, they are very sturdy on your feet and great to walk in. I haven't walked in puddles so I cannot verify the waterproof feature. I highly recommend these shoes if you are looking for a good sturdy hiking shoe, I wanted a sturdier tennis shoe and these totally fit the bill. I would purchase Merrell again. I recommend purchasing a 1/2 size larger than you currently wear in a tennis shoe and you won't be disappointed.
