These are extremely comfortable shoes but are NOT WATERPROOF! I have worn them twice in heavy rain and the inside of the shoe and my socks were wet. I did not go through any seriously deep mud puddles either. I am disappointed to say the least. I am considering returning...

I love Zappos! They are the company that has put the word service back into Customer Service. These shoes were very comfortable and I wore them a little while clearing house, etc, but I did not wear on my morning walks in the woods, waiting for a trusty old pair to wear out. This week I retired my old shoes and I took these on the wet grassy trails. Not only were my socks soaking wet, but the shoe had a foul smell the next day...and they still do. Never experienced that before. So not only were they useless for walking, but also for simply wearing. Zappos generously accepted the return, months later, and now searching for the replacement shoe. Thank you, Zappos.

I tried on the shoes and knew immediately that they had to go back. The tongue is too long and thick, causing irritation when I walk. The shoes are also too stiff. I can't imagine hiking long distances with these shoes.

Shoe did not fit me well, which is not Merrell's fault. But their "waterproofing" doesn't breathe like Goretex. Within a few minutes my feet were swimming in sweat. Like wearing a plastic bag.

Sadly, these are not waterproof. 20 minutes walking in dewy grass and my toes were wet. Very disappointing. Not only are they not waterproof, they take a very long time to dry, inside and out. Maybe I just got a pair of lemons based on the rest of the reviews, but this pair definitely do not perform as expected. I'm not expecting to stay dry crossing an ankle deep creek, but I would expect to stay dry in damp grass. I like the way they look, and they are ok on comfort. My previous Merrell's have been more comfortable though.

Waterproof apparently means this shoe does not breathe. Feet became very sweaty. I bought them for walking on an upcoming Alaska cruise, so it is too soon to give a full evaluation. The shoes seem a little large, but I should probably be wearing heavier socks with them. My main concern is the breathability issue.

After reading all the reviews, I couldn't wait to get these shoes! I put them on right out off the delivery truck. My first reaction was, they are a bit stiff. Well, they don't loosen up either. By day three I am ready to ship them back. My legs ache, my feet ache... :( Very disappointed. This coming from someone who loves Merrils!

Not at all the quality I expected from Merrell. The entire lining of the shoe comes out when you take you foot out. The shoe is waterproof as stated, but I used the shoe for a vacation and got a huge blister, I believe because of the lining moving around inside the shoe.

I ordered these shoes based on the positive reviews. I am normally between a 9 and 9.5 so I ordered the 9.5 and my toes hit the front of the shoe, but my heel was slipping out of the back. These fit wide in the heel. Overall, they felt heavy for a mid-height shoe.

I got these shoes because I wear Merell clogs and find them comfortable, nice looking, and long lasting. These failed on two of those three counts. First, thick padding surrounds the shoe, which makes one's feet look like balloons. Tried to convince myself they'd do, but after several days walking in them I got blisters and a raw spot BETWEEN my little toe and the one next to it. Someone else mentioned that they smashed one's little toe on the right foot, but I thought it was a unique case. Finally, these come up when one clicks WATERPROOF for a choice. But they are NOT waterproof. Very disappointing. They are going back.

This shoe is the WORST. Its so heavy and clunky. I can't get it to tie tight enough because the whole thing is so stiff and bulky.They have no flexibility to them. I feel like I am lugging around bricks. I haven't worn them all that much, but the other day when I put them on I noticed that the back has gotten pushed down on one and I can't get it to unfold, so now its horribly uncomfortable. Seriously, don't buy these, I wish I could return them

Disappointed! Not comfortable to wear all day. I tried different insoles and arch supports did not help. After trying to wear them for a week, I am giving up. My feet hurt really bad. I never even got to see how well the waterproofing works.

I really, really wanted to love these. After doing extensive research, I bought these (I've really liked every pair of Merrell's I've owned) for an intense hike up and down volcanic mountains in the Caribbean, through rain forest terrain. These shoes have absolutely NO traction once the bottoms get wet. I fell several times when the ground was wet, whereas my husband had no problem navigating the terrain in his timberlands. At one point I almost took them off, because I felt they were making the situation even worse than it actually was. I wish I could recommend these as they are lightweight and pretty comfortable, but they were nothing short of dangerous once there was any dampness or wet. I found myself unable to enjoy my time on this amazing hike as I was so paranoid of slipping and falling. Really disappointing.

This is the most PAINFUL shoe I have ever owned. As a landscaper, I've worn boots of all makes and styles for 30 years and these felt good when I tried them on. Since then, I've learned if I wear them for more than 30 minutes at a time my feet and legs ache for days afterward. A huge disappointment.

These are not waterproof! I have owned many pair of Merrell shoes and loved them but these are not what they claim to be! Could they be mislabeled?
