Just received my Merrell Moab hiking shoe. I am trying to break them in before a trip. So far thee feel true to size and comfortable. I have one bad foot from two surgeries so it's hard to get a shoe that feels good. This one feels good, as the waterproof I'll see in the future.

First off, this is my first pair of traditional hiking shoes. I don't have a lot of experience with the different brands out there so feel free to take this with a grain of salt. I ordered these shoes for a trip I'm taking to some of Utah's National Parks. Zappos was very good about working with me as I had to make a few exchanges before getting the correct size (I forget that my shoe size runs a little bigger in sneaker type footwear). I liked pretty much everything about this hiking shoe except that, for me, the tip of the shoe was cut too narrow and I felt like my big toe was rubbing up the side of it (other than this, felt true to width). I do not have wide feet so this seemed a little weird to me but could just be something that is unique to my particular feet. As a result, I'm sending this pair back as well. Might this problem go away after breaking them in: Possibly. However, this purchase is an investment for me and I would hate to break them in and find out that the issue remains.

These seemed great at first, but after walking more than five miles I developed a strong heel pain which went away when I put on my regular running shoes. I am sad, because the toes were roomy enough for me and the support is solid. Back to the drawing board! By the way I ordered half a size bigger as the other reviewers suggested, and that was a good thing.

Very comfortable initially but I find my feet are tired and ache after wearing these for a few hours. Because of that I need to stretch my feet (and massage). I'm a huge fan of Keen's hiking boots and purchased these Merrell's for the "sneaker" factor.

I bought these hiking boots for an upcoming trip to New Zealand, so I haven't worn them yet. But this is why I kept these and sent the others back: lightweight, fit perfectly, not too clunky, lots of support. Now let's just hope they're just as great once I put them to use.

Received these shoes a few weeks ago. Overall I think I am happy with them. Upon trying them on for the first time they were a little snug, after putting socks on they felt better. They are a bit heavier than expected. Think they are going to be a great shoe for camping the Great Wall of China!

Overall, these are great hiking shoes. I first wore them at Glacier National Park and hiked through waterfall streams, on rocks of all sizes, in dirt and mud and snow and every kind of terrain you can think of and I thought they did great. Very waterproof - I never had to wonder if the water was going to seep into my socks, it never did and you can be very confident when you're wearing them. Although overall they are great shoes, they do have some downfalls, depending on your preferences and the type of hiking you'll be doing: 1) They are hot! I know with the waterproofing you have to put up with less breathability but when it gets into the 90s for temps - as it did when we were at Glacier - they can make you quite hot; 2) They are relatively heavy, which reflects their superior support and stability and the great thick sole they have but if you are doing very light hiking and don't need the kind of sole that can easily handle large sharp rocks and slippery streams, you might want to go for something lighter; 3) This is odd but I noticed that each time I wore them they felt much more comfortable after I had been wearing them for about 15-20 minutes (so if you get them home and try them on and think they aren't quite as comfortable as you'd like, try wearing them around the house for a while and see if it makes a difference). Overall, for serious hiking with variable terrain (that may or may not include waterfalls and snow!), these are great shoes that you can feel confident will give you the stability, support, and comfort that you need.

Like the look but the 9 was a little snug and the 9.5 too loose. Just not the shoe for me. These are going back and I will look for a different waterproof hiking shoe. I'm sure Zappos has it and the easy shipping and returns will insure that I find it.

These kept my feet warm, dry and protected all over the rainy UK. My only issue with these is they are sort of clunky looking and feeling. They started feeling heavy towards end of day. They definitely don't look good with skinny jeans. I was glad to have them as one of three pairs I took on my trip.

Ordered these shoes to replace a twenty year old pair that fit me like a glove. These shoes are quite comfortable. I have worn them on a number of long hikes so far. My only complaint is that they are hot. I have ordered some hiking socks that will wick and hopefully keep my feet a bit cooler. The shoes look cool.

These shoes are just about perfect, but not quite because they seem just a tad short in the toe box. My big toe slightly touches the tip of the shoe...not uncomfortably so, but enough that I notice it. I'm not sure if the next half size up would have been a better fit, but I already used them outside, so I won't be returning it. But next time I think I'd go a half size larger.

Pretty nice looking shoe but not a good fit for me. I have a very high arch and the tongue of these shoes is very padded...after just a few minutes even loosely tied these put my feet to sleep. I ended up buying the Salomon Ellipse GTX.

I'm looking for the most comfortable, low, waterproof hiking shoe I can find. I need to wear compression socks for a year so I need extra room in my shoes. I tried on four different pair of shoes for size and fit. This pair was too tight, especially up front in the toe.

These sneakers are great! I was looking for a sneaker for the winter to walk my dog on trails and in the neighborhood. Something to keep my feet warm and dry, that would also work in light snow or slush. I got an 8 (my normal size) and found them to be a perfect fit, even with wool socks. The only thing I don't like is the shoelaces. They never stay tied but this is easily fixed with new flat laces.

I wear these daily for an hour & a half to walk the dog. My only complaint is that the heel wears down quickly while the rest of the shoe remains in good shape.

Decent shoe. I haven't done much hiking, but I've been wearing it to do errands to get a feel for the support. Seems good, but I'm not sure it was worth the cost.

Ok, now that I've had a chance to really put these to the test, I think they're great hiking shoes. I usually have trouble with blistering on my heels, but these are very comfortable. Do pay attention to the word waterproof in the title. These are fine for a little creek hopping but you wouldn't want to submerse your foot much.

Wore these snow shoeing in 3 degrees and my feet were toasty. Too cold for the snow to melt, so I'm not sure how water proof they are yet. My only complaint are the laces are the rounded type and don't stay tied.

Fit is very good, not perfect. I have narrow heels, normal arches, regular width front of foot, so rarely is anything perfect! Keeps my feet warm so I am happy. Good traction on snow/ice.

As much as I wanted to keep these, they were just not comfortable enough for me. I had wanted to wear them all day at work (I work in an animal shelter), but when I tried them on at home, the arches were just too high for me. I tried switching out the insoles, but it didn't help. Otherwise, they seem great - very sturdy and just what I was looking for.

Truly waterproof! Just took these shoes on a hiking trip of Islay, I was the only one with dry feet the entire trip! Odd sizing (7.5 too small, 8 tiny bit too large) but otherwise perfect.

This seems immediately comfortable and flexible. The footbed squeaks a bit on the (clean) wood floor. It has a generous toe box. The fabric upper makes it soft, with generous padding around ankle and tongue. I am looking for something with firmer side and top support. I wish they were a bit more subtle in the color variations on this style. This would be good for general comfort; seems like a shoe you can wear without any break-in time. Soft, cushion-y.

I normally where Keen's when hiking, but I decided to try something new. I read reviews on the Merrell Moab, and decided to try them. I have a small narrow foot, and like the feel of this shoe over the Keen. I have not gone hiking yet, so I can't comment on that end. I tend to wear the tread off my Keen's so I will be interested to see how the Moab tread compares. 4 Star because not a complete test yet.

This felt like a very comfortable shoe, and I loved the waterproof feature for the wet winter months where I live; however, they are too narrow, and this model does not come in wide.

I bought these shoes for my daughter who was taking a class trip to the mountains. She would do numerous hikes, both long and short. She said they were very comfortable at first but her feet started to hurt on the third day. They did not give her blisters on her heels, which was a good thing. The fact that they are waterproof really helped sell them to us. Overall, I think we would buy them again give the choice. Merrell is a great brand.
