These shoes are comfortable right out of the box. They are great for long hikes, or just hanging out. My husband, who is on his feet all day, has three pairs of these shoes and loves them.

These are great shoes that are a bit bulky. But, then, most hiking shoes are. I wore them for the first time this morning while walking in a 1½ mile Memorial Day Parade. I had no problems whatsoever! I plan on wearing them in July for a camping trip that has been planned and also on the soccer field so the waterproof protection will come in handy for those wet grass mornings or any water I encounter on the camping trip. All I had to do with these shoes is take them out of the box and put them on and I was ready to go. I am very happy with my purchase. I did order half size up based on the other reviewer's suggestions!

These are great all around hiking shoes. The are comfortable, lightweight, and durable. I have not tested their waterproof aspect yet but so far they withstood a rough long hike in brutal lava fields (known to tear up shoes). I love these shoes!

Love them but sizing is way smaller than marked. Order a full size or size and a half larger than what you need. I have custom inserts at fit well with the shoes and the shoes are durable.

I bought these specifically for a hiking trip in the Pacific NW, so being waterproof was a necessity. It was between these, and a pair of Columbia shoes. I didn't want the full out boot, but in retrospect, that might have been better. The top of the shoe does rub against the bottom of my ankle. It wasn't outright horrible, but slightly uncomfortable. It was something I didn't notice when trying them on at home, but after 7 days of tromping through the forest, I could feel it. They are waterproof, and I liked the support and cushioning of these over the other pair.

I usually have to get a size 8 to fit the width of my feet, though I wear a size 7.5 in length. So my boots are usually a bit long. These 8W fit both in length and in width, so I think they run shorter than most and fit like a regular rather than wide width. These should have been marked 7.5W. The shoes are cute and comfortable. There is a bulk added to the outside around the ankle. I can't find any purpose to it and it makes the shoe look bulky and odd. That's why I took a star off for style.

Looking for a waterproof Hiking Boot was interesting...I did not want speed laces (My foot tends to move in them) I took hubbies advice and ordered the Merrill. I did size up a half size, and the length is perfect. My feet are not wide, but after adjusting the laces the width was good too. The arch actually supports my uber high arches, heel cup fits just right. They feel very stable walking around the house. Their first trip will be a city trek on a mildly rainy day, so I will test out their waterproof qualities then. Soon they they will hit local trails and Tahoe in the summer. Happy feet, happy trek!

Comfortable, sturdy shoe. I wear a thick sock, which gives even more support. This is my first pair of Merrells and I'm pretty impressed!

I really wanted to love these shoes but ended up sending them back. They are very cute and fit well except for an unfortunate seam in the top of the toe box. The seam was only a problem on my left foot. I wore them around the house for a few days hoping that it would get better but it got worse. Great arch support, a little loose in the heel but most shoes are for me and I needed to go up a half size in length.

These are my go-to shoes for everyday dog-walking & light hikes. They have a great footbed (support, cushion) and a wider base so you won't likely twist your ankle on uneven trails. Lightweight, breathable...BUT they have not been waterproof for me! Walking thru damp grass gives me wet toes! As these shoes are supposed to be waterproof (and this was a major criteria in my shoe search) I am er disappointed and am once again on the search for solid but light weight hiking shoes that will keep my feet dry as promisied!

I initially loved this shoe and thought I hit the jackpot! I did exchange it though as in my usual size, it was half a size small. When I received the exchanged, half size larger, and put it on, it felt so good. I need arch support and it felt like I had adequate arch support. Then I went on an hour long hike and by the end, I was actually limping because I needed more arch support than existed. Sadly, I returned this shoe today. However, there is much I liked about this shoe from its construction, to sole. It just didn't have the amount of arch support I needed.

I like the color and style, just not as comfortable as I expected. They hurt my heels a little after a hike and feel a little stiff. Maybe I still need to break them in more.

The shoe looks great and as usual with Merrell, there isn't a break-phase. I'm not sure I'm keeping it for two reasons. 1. It's a very big shoe. It's big and bulky so it looks funny with yoga pants for example. 2. It's very heavy and the main reason I would return them. When wearing them, my legs will start hurting which doesn't seem to go away. Though I have some medical issues that make the weight worse I suspect. Other might not have a problem with that. Otherwise it seems like a great shoe.

Glad I ordered a half size larger - I usually wear size 10 and size 10-1/2 fit nicely. Waterproof and kept my feet warm even after I stepped up to mid-calf into a cold stream. Dried pretty quickly, too. Worked great even without breaking in - did some day hiking in Olympic National Park in woods and on ridge line and was very pleased with performance. Terrain was often wet and muddy - gave good traction in conditions and didn't keep too much mud after the hiking.

Finally, a waterproof hiking shoe that comes in wide, so it's comfortable with my bunions (the nice arch support & stiff sole would be comfortable for them, too). Unfortunately, while these would be great for actual hiking, what I need them for is travel, and they are just way too clunky to be worn on the streets of Rome or Paris. Couldn't they at least make them in cute colors?

Thanks to Zappos selection and purchase/exchange policies I was able to order 5 shoes all at once in order to select the one with the best fit for my needs. All were 8 W to accommodate bunions, neuroma, and severe pronation. I also need to use a different insole or an orthodic. The Moab seems to be the hiking shoe that best fits my needs. At this point I have just worn them in the house, but they allow enough room in the toe box with a firm fit around the heel. In fact, the heel feels cushioned. I would prefer if there were a bit more cushioning at the ball of the foot, but as I plan to replace the insole with Superfeet I will see if that can be solved for. I can't testify to how waterproof these are, but previous users seem satisfied. I have worn Merril day hikers in the past, and now that I need a wider width I am pleased to find a few options from Merrill.

I always wear a 7 and I buy a lot of Merrells. This shoe runs a half size small. But here's the rub, I ordered a 7 and a 7.5 and even though they were labeled as such, they were both the same size. Exactly. So I'm trying again. I'm ordering another 7.5 to see if they are longer. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I like the look of the shoe and it's comfortable.

I am definitely not a tennis shoe type person but bought these for a trip to Montana. I was pleasantly surprised how comfy and light they were.

I ended up ordering a 9.5W, a full size up from my dress shoe size, to accommodate an orthotic, thick athletic socks, and other foot aids. I wore the 9.5 for the first time yesterday and It is a little still snug on my right side. It should be more comfortable after breaking it in. As a result I am returning the 9W. Appreciate Merrell making hiking shoes in wide widths.

Very few manufacturers make women's hiking shoes in wide widths.

Just bought a new pair since I wore out my old ones. I got the same size but these feel and measure just a bit smaller across the width than my previous pair. Hopefully with a little extra breaking in they will work just fine. I won't be able to wear thick socks with these but generally these keep my feet warm and dry with thinner socks.

I have been using these for about 4 months now. They have provided good overall arch and ankle support. However, as with many Merrell shoes, the toe box is narrow. I had to go up a half size for a good fit. I am not sure about being "waterproof" since I have not worn them in the rain.

I've gone on a couple of 6 mile hikes already in these. They are comfortable enough and light enough not to add any annoyance. My legs were less fatigued than usual due to the support and they did stay dry through some puddles. They are too snug in my size to wear socks with any padding at all.
