I am so happy that I purchased these shoes! I am ready to tackle fall/winter in Chicagoland. They look nice and feel amazing.

My previous hiking shoe that I used for over 5 years was the Merrell Siren 2 Sport, which was a great shoe at the time. But I find this Merrell Moab to be even better--bulkier and sturdier for the rocky terrain I frequent. I used the Salomon Ellipse GTX for a few weeks after I read that was the best hiking shoe, but from day one I was wishing I had gone with Merrell. Fortunately for me, the Salomon shoe lace clip broke after only a few weeks and Zappos gladly replaced them with these Merrell Moabs! I would highly recommend! The only reason I am not giving 5 stars for comfort is that they are ever so slightly narrow, though I feel they are breaking in comfortably. I always replace my athletic shoes with montrail arch inserts, so I cannot attest to the Merrell arch support.

I have a narrow foot, and there are no hiking shoes in that width. THEse are a great fit. I am very, very pleased w the comfort and they are narrow enough for me. I may get a slightly thicker sock to wear. I usually wear a 10.5 in new balance for walking and work shoes. Went ahead and got an 11 in these, although the 10.5 probably would have been ok.

These were comfortable right out of the box. Toe box is a little more snug than I like, but great hiking shoe. Light weight and sturdy.

Comfortable and waterproof! This is my first Merrell purchase and I now see why so many people recommend this brand. They are very well made. The first day I put them on, I ran a few blocks to catch my train. No problem! I was amazed. I usually pay with blood breaking in a pair of new shoes. None required for this pair! Second day, I wore them in rain. My jeans legs got wet, but my feet and socks stayed dry. Waterproof! I feel good traction on wet pavement, but very slippery on wet metal surfaces.

These shoes have been comfortable right out of the box. The day after I got them, I went camping and hiked in them. No blisters. My feet tend to be wide, but not wide enough for a "wide" shoe. These shoes have plenty of room - no squished toes. Best of all...my feet stay warm and dry. I walk my dogs in areas that are grassy and in the mornings that grass is usually wet. Having dry feet now is great.

Incredible amount of stability in these hiking shoes. They really are waterproof, too! I've worn them for city walks and hiking in the wilderness and they do the job. Amazing, comfortable, and stable shoes!

A good, sturdy, attractive hiking shoe. Because I have an oddly shaped foot, it felt a bit cramped for my toes, but I doubt if this would be a problem for most people.

This is my second pair of Merrell Moabs. The first pair I wore for 2 years and, besides looking too scruffy to wear anywhere but at home now, are still in perfect condition (soles, etc). They are the most comfortable and durable shoe I have ever owned and the fit is true to size. I should note that I am ordinarily very hard on shoes and have worn them to do farm work. Absolutely love them and will continue to buy them as long as Merrell makes them!

Love these shoes! They're comfortable and stylish. I bought them for a 200 mile hiking trip in Europe this summer and have already started breaking them in. Haven't had any issues. The only thing I would say as with all hiking boots is to buy one size bigger than you normally wear to accommodate swelling feet and the like. Great shoe!

Once again Merrill did not let me down. These shoes are completely comfortable from the first day. They are waterproof and awesome in every way. They are also warm without being sweaty--great with Smartwool sox on cold days. I would recommend them to one and all!!

Could not be happier with this shoe. Surprising flexibility for being a waterproof hiker. Have been breaking them in for an upcoming trip, and they've been nothing but comfortable. My feet run wide. Usually wear a 7.5 or 8. Bought these in an 8, and the size was perfect. Also, I have lower back issues, and this hiker is designed to improve pronation, which seems to be helping my back.

This are excellent shoes! Comfortable from the get go, very decent support, and my feet have yet to get cold or wet and that's saying something after the winter we had here in Boston!

I had a pair of waterproof Merrell shoes that I wore out using them to walk daily in the wet Pacific Northwest. I loved them and knew that I wanted another pair of waterproof Merrells. This new pair fits perfectly (I wear a size 9 and bought a size 9) and I love the support and stability I feel when walking. They're great at keeping my feet dry when walking in the rain. My walking is normally on cement sidewalks and gravel, including hills, but I would think they would be a great trail shoe as well. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I was worried that these shoes would be too heavy for me. I am a mail carrier. So I am on my feet all day. I needed a shoe that was comfortable, 100% waterproof, & not heheavy.These are by far the best shoe I've found yet for my job. They definitely can stand up to all of my needs. The best thing is they manage to stay clean while doing it. I've walked through puddles, snow banks,& muddy lawns.I love these shoes and would definitely buy them again. They are well worth the money.

These are great shoes. I tried some others but came back to these. I need waterproof shoes for wet grass in Vermont. I broke my ankle last summer so need support and these are just right. My husband also has a pair and highly recommends them.

These shoes offer excellent support, and I also like the color and the trim look and feel of them, since sometimes hiking boots can be quite heavy and bulky, and these are not. I have had two pairs of these, and one pair turned out to be just a little larger than the other (feels perhaps about a half size larger), but I am able to wear thick socks with those for winter. (It is just a difference in the manufacture of them I suppose, though both pairs are listed as the exact same size.) I love the shoes. The support and comfort they provide has helped me recover from a foot injury and eases the pain when I wear them. I feel very fortunate to have them. I highly recommend the shoes.

Just returned from New Zealand and loved these shoes! I researched hiking shoes for bunions and neuromas and these did not disappoint. Waterproof was perfect for hiking through shallow streams. I wore them at home but not outdoors before the trip and I had no problems which earns them a gold star from me. Only regret is that they are a bit heavy for travel but I needed the support and would take them anywhere. Bonus is that they didn't make my feet look big as hiking shoes often do.

Bought these for a trip to South America, and they were SO comfortable throughout my hikes in the Atacama desert and Patagonia, as well as having to travel in them since they were my bulkiest shoes. No blisters, and no wet socks because the snow never seeped through the toe box! Highly recommend. Thanks also to Zappos for keeping up with overnight shipping so close to Christmas, since I ordered somewhat last minute. Sizing tip: I wear a 9-9.5 normally, but a 10 in running shoes, so I ordered these in a 10. Perfect.

I am so happy with these shoes. I need shoes that I can walk many miles a day in in the winter, when sneakers are just too cold. I put my warm socks in these Gortex shoes and they work great in the New England winter. They are very comfortable. I found these shoes to be true to size. In fact going one half size up would be problematic.

I bought these because I was looking for a firm soled shoe with a wider toe box that wasn't a Dansko or other clog since I have a minor toe injury but still want to be active with my 3 year old. These shoes are perfect! They are so supportive and I can wear them all day without upsetting my stupid toe. I was able to tie them loosely so I can slip them on and off without bending over (6 months pregnant). These shoes are great quality. I know that I'm going to have these shoes for many years to come!

I wear a size 10 which I ordered and returned for a size 10½ which fit better. I have hammer toes and wide feet but the toe box was good and no heel slippage. My only issue are the shoe laces. After paying so much for the shoes I feel there should be top quality laces. They did not stay tied. I called Zappos but all they offered was the phone number to a Merrell store that was a good distance from my home.

A great fitting shoe. Good space in the toe box, and more comfortable to stand in that other Merrells I've had. Excellent shoe.

This is my second pair of Merrell Moabs. I bought my first pair four years ago and the tread has worn off from daily hikes. My latest purchase of Moabs is absolutely fabulous. The color and style is everything I expected, but more importantly the comfort is phenomenal! No need to break in. A must have shoe for someone who walks in rain, snow and muddy trails.
