I'm an 8.5 in dress shoes and a 9 in running sneakers. I ordered a 8.5, but it was a bit too small - my toes were hitting the top of the shoe. Even though minimalist shoes are supposed to be snug, I recommend ordering a half-size up from your normal dress shoe size, especially if you wear socks. I'll be exchanging for larger size. Other than that, they look cute and feel great.

I am so in love with these shoes. I am a barefoot dancer with ridiculously strong feet that finds any shoes that are not lightweight and completely without support to be restricting and uncomfortable. The barefoot/ minimalist running shoe trend is like a dream come true for me! Yes - these have no support, and that's just the way I like them! I've now taken these on a couple short 4 mile hikes and now a few 8 milers and I love them more the more I wear them. They are amazing for rock hopping and climbing around -- they have a nicely grippy sole, but are lightweight and flexible enough that I can bend my foot properly to land jumps on the balls of my feet etc. I must mention though, that even with my super strong feet, after a day long hike my feet do feel like they got a good workout. Especially if I go crazy with the rock hopping and climbing around my foot muscles will be sore and feel like they have been putting in some real work -- and that's how it should be! Notes on fit: I have a very high instep, and found that when laced to the top these were cutting into the top of my feet. I just took them out of the top loops and perfect. I also have a pretty high arch and these fit very nicely. I think if you messed around with the laces you could get them to fit a variety of foot shapes though. I like to wear these with socks to help keep gravel and things from getting inside my shoes, which I think is a little more likely without the laces through the top loops. I did try them without socks a few times, but it made my feet feel too sweaty. Thin/non bulky athletic socks have worked well for me. (This probably helps keep them from getting stinky as well.)

I purchased this shoe for weight training class; works and feels great. Now I wear them at work in a resale shop, which includes standing 5 hours at a time. Great comfort and support; I would recommend this shoe for multiple activities. They are so stylish, too.

Love these shoes! They're so lightweight and flexible. Almost as good as going barefoot.

My perfect shoe. Barefoot. But stays in place and feels secure. Looks pretty good, too. Have tried more than a few others and this is a keeper. Originally bought too short and, of course, Zappos was incredibly easy and efficient on the return and repurchase.

I am not a runner, but I bought these shoes to walk in and wear to the gym. They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, and the color is so vibrant and fun. I get compliments everytime I wear them. I received them the day after I placed my order. Thanks Zappos!

It makes me want to run more! For some reason though my calves get really tight in these shoes. Just wondering how they will feel on the cobblestone during our upcoming trip to Italy.

I already had two pairs of barefoot shoes (with toes) when I got my first pair of Pace Gloves. Shortly after I started wearing them noticed that a back problem I had been having was getting better. I got second pair because I needed more fashion colors and my back continued to improve. I now have three pairs of Pace Gloves and my back problem is gone. Also, you can throw them in the washing machine and they come out like brand new. I love these shoes. I hope Merrell makes this model forever -- it is perfect!

Way cute but wow, no support. Not great for loads of walking. After a 12 hour shift I can really tell how tired and unsupported my feet feel. Okay for errands and around the house though.

I love this shoe. I got it for everyday wearing and cross training at the gym (weights, etc) and I am super happy with it. It has a narrow fit, but is very flexible so it makes my foot look narrow without being uncomfortable. It is a flat sole, which takes a little getting used to, but I have found it surprisingly comfy. I have the black and I've had tons of compliments.

Like some other reviewers, I have always had difficulty with shoes of any kind because of my wide foot and high arch. Wide width shoes always seem to be wide in the wrong spot. After reading up on the Pace Glove and the Merrell Barefoots in general, I decided to give them a try. I tried on the Pace Glove at a local store, but they only had the medium width and it was too tight. I had a very hard time getting my foot into the opening. I could tell it was a comfortable shoe, but it was too hard to get on and too tight once I got my foot into it. But once I realized Zappos had the wide width version, I ordered right away. They fit great. They are wider in the right place and feel wonderful when on. I am not a runner, but I do walk quite a bit. I wear these for fitness walking and also for casual use. They do feel different at first and take some getting used to, but I've been wearing them regularly for about 6 weeks and haven't had any problems of any kind.

I love these shoes. Really. They are incredibly comfortable. For me there was no break-in period. No blisters, no rubbing, nada. I even wore them to Disneyland the first day and walked for hours with no problem at all and my feet weren't tired at the end of the day. (I was, of course.) I wear them all the time and am already beginning to panic that I won't be able to in the winter because it will be too cold to go without socks. When I first researched them I noticed that some people were wearing them with socks. Don't do that. I also noticed some people said there was no support. Not true.

First: thanks! I tried this shoe based on some of the helpful reviews here. I have a lot of problems with my feet, including bunions and hammer toes. Most shoes that I've tried over the past couple of years have felt comfortable at the beginning, but grew uncomfortable fairly quickly, especially in the arch area. The area between arch and toes usually felt inadequately supported. These shoes have been amazing: I feel like I'm getting my feet back after years of discomfort. My foot feels entirely supported. I got the first pair in mid-March and have noticed a significant reduction in the pain I had been experiencing in my feet, ankles, knees, hips, and lower back. I also feel significantly less fatigued after walking. I noticed immediately that they are actually comfortable to stand in, whereas none of my standard athletic shoes are. You do have to allow yourself time to adjust to walking in them, and you need to adjust your stride according to how your feet are responding, and the suggestions on Merrell's website. The cons: the soles, like any other Vibram soles I've worn, wear down too fast on pavement. Also, they may make your other shoes obsolete. I can barely last two hours now in some Saucony shoes that I had found somewhat comfortable when I got them. The more minimal ones feel squishy and too high in the arch and the more traditional ones feel clunky and over-built (and too high in the arch). They both leave me feeling fatigued very quickly. The slightly raised heel feels all wrong as well. After wearing them, it's a big relief to get back into the Pace Gloves. I hope Merrell makes a moisture-proof cold weather version of them, or I'll be in trouble this winter.

Very comfortable. I like the feather weight of them and the narrow profile. They are much like being barefoot with a foot glove on!

The best walking shoe ever. I saw these in a different color while my son was trying out the Vibram FiveFingers shoes...I was bored waiting for him so I tried them on. They felt fantastic from the moment I put them on. I didn't care for the color in store, so came home and found these in red and tan. I have a lot of walking planned for this summer and ordered them immediately. Super arch support, I don't think I would wear them with socks...these are summer shoes very breathable and light and excellent for walking.

These are so comfortable. I did order a half size up due to reviews I read, but I think I probably could have stuck with my regular size. I have plenty of extra toe room. I got 2 pair of these, and they are perfect for working out, hiking, and I wear them to work as well. Long hours on my feet, and they feel great!

I love these shoes. Normally, I am a cheapskate and wouldn't spend money on shoes. These were well worth it! I wear them everyday!

I like these much better than the Five Fingers barefoot shoe. It's a lightweight sneak that is great to pack on a trip. I use it for power walks, running and bicycling. Also some running around town. I wear it without socks and it's a little snug so I got a half size larger. Very Pretty colors as well!

I adore these and recommend them to nearly everyone I meet. They are especially comfy when you are sitting because they allow you to bend your feet and wiggle your toes. Breathable, lightweight, and utterly the buy I've made in years. I hike in them, study in them, work in them, etc. The support is incredible and energizing. Buy them! Just so you know I wear an 8 to an 8.5 and went with the 8.5. I recommend you lean towards the higher size.

Love these shoes! Since I started using them my knees or shins do not hurt anymore when I run or do cardio. They were dirty one day so I used my regular Nike running shoes and I could totally tell the difference. Stooped my work out and put on my other Merrell hiking shoes. I don't think I'm ever going back to another running shoe. As a matter of fact I'm ordering another pair in black. Also great customer service.

I read previous reviews and the comments about these shoes running small are accurate. The size I ordered was way too short. I ordered a whole size larger and they arrived today and fit well. They are the greatest shoes. I am glad that I now have the correct size. Thanks, Zappos, for being patient with the ordering, returning, and keeping process!

Amazing! I can't express how much I love these shoes. First day wearing them I did a 5 mile hike and they felt great. You do have to adjust and ease your way into wearing them. Running is such a joy and no pain or pressure points. My form has improved so much due to these shoes. Will be buying these again and again.
