Used for NYC commute (walk, train, walk) and I have to say, very good for mild winter/fall/spring weather. Good comfort, decent wear. I wouldn't use the Waterproof for Summer...doesn't breathe well enough for me. I didn't expect it to, just passing it along. One downside laces don't hold. Swap with almost anything else and this is a great shoe.

After trying other brands and disliking the overall feel and fit, I went back to Merrell. These shoes are extremely comfortable and very grippy when walking on snow and ice. They are not heavy or bulky and blend in nice even at work. They are put together tough as Merrell's have always lasted many years even with daily use.

I ordered these based on great experience with Moab Ventilators, which fit me better than any shoes that I have owned. They are fine but do fit a bit differently, not quite as comfortable for me as the same size in Ventilators; a bit narrower in the standard width. I wear with custom orthotics so it is important that the shoe can accommodate them.

I prefer to wear a trail running shoe in place of an everyday sneaker. I like that these are waterproof, Vibram soles, full arch support and laces that do not untie themselves. I used to buy Columbia, but will choose Merrell again.

I've now had these shoes for about 4 months. I play disc golf in the Pacific Northwest, where it rains...a lot. So far, I've been pretty happy. I don't know if I'd call these "waterproof" so much as superbly water resistant. My feet have been dry without fail...until just the other day. 2 rounds of disc golf in steady rain. Was good until about hole 24, when I noticed damp socks and shoe. Just near the balls of my feet. But considering the conditions, I'm still happy. It was really wet out. Maybe I should have gone Gore-Tex. Anyways, shoes are comfortable, but could breathe a little better. Traction is great. Shoes are sturdy, stable and stylish.

Comfortable shoe, but way too bulky for me. Think I may go for the slimmer version, the Merrell Chameleon 4 Stretch, and see how that works out.

Very comfortable and supportive. I walk all day on my feet during my job. These shoes give me the best support yet.

Very comfortable shoe, a little tight in the front. I had to take the lace out the top of the lace holes to give my ankle more room. My last pair had Gore-Tex and I can really tell the difference - my feet are hotter and smellier (which is not particularly hot or smelly by general standards!). I thought it would get better as the weather got cooler but it hasn't.

Excellent all around walking shoe. Have had 5 pair. Each lasts about a year, keep hoping for longer. First pair had a pull loop break early on, most recent pair came with a lace frayed at one end. So they do have occasional minor quality lapses. Except for such lapses, and only OK longevity, they would rate 5 stars not 4.

I normally wear size 12 regular. I had read good things about Merrell shoes and really wanted to like these. Unfortunately, they were about a half size too small, and a size 12.5 wasn't made. I had to return them and got Patagonia Drifters instead. They fit but they are not as comfortable or as well made as Merrells appear to be. Zappos service is fantastic!

I'm not really a fan of the style, but these shoes are great. I did a 17 mile backpacking/hike the first day I wore them. Didn't need any breaking in and they are waterproof as they say. I always get a size 11, but had to get the 11.5 in these.

My husband loved the shoe but it is just a little too tight in the forefoot, we are going to try a wide width which he doesn't normally need.

My previous "explore in wet weather" shoes were Merrell Moab Rovers which I loved. After I beat those to death I replaced them with a Moab Waterproof pair. I regret the switch. The Moab Waterproof set just doesn't fit my feet. In particular my little toe is always getting pinched and mashed up into the next toe.

I rated this shoe five stars earlier--still like it a lot. However, I'm very disappointed to find that after only a handful of days' usage, the "waterproofing" has failed. It was hard to believe that a shoe made of fabric with lots of intricate stitching would be waterproof--well, it's not. The water starts to seep in, and after a day's work in drizzle and wet brush, the socks are soaked. Maybe OK for a stroll in the city, but don't trust it for hiking all day in the rain, for example.

These shoes are much too heavy. They would tire me out after a long hike. Also, the mesh, which looks beige in the online photo, is actually gray, which looks a little strange against the brown leather. I returned them and got a pair of Rockports that feel and look great.

Liked this shoe a lot except part of the sole has now flacked off after only six months of admittedly daily wear of some four to five miles a day. Expected more durability than this.

Very comfortable, well built, durable shoe. Unfortunately they lost their waterproofing in just a couple months. I work on a golf course and I'm fairly hard on shoes, but they only had to survive wet turf. They aren't the most expensive shoes but for the price I expected better. Maybe go for the Gore-Tex version, they have better ratings and aren't much more expensive. That version will soon replace this pair for me.

Major difference in how this Moab 'Waterproof' model felt v s the Moab 'Gortex' model in the exact same size & medium width. I would classify the waterproof model as feeling like a NARROW width and the Gortex model as feeling like a MEDIUM width. I already own a pair of the Moab Ventilator mid height boots but I hike on somewhat packed sand trails and they fill up with sand through the ventilation holes so I am keeping my fingers crossed the Gortex liner on this pair will keep the sand out - if not, I'll be set for winter hiking when it's wet.

Bought these to wear around in the fall and winter in Colorado in the city. So far so good except they're a little slippery on wet tile so walk carefully and take sure-footed, flat steps. Otherwise they're waterproof and pretty warm with thick enough socks. They're basically what you'd expect from a hiking shoe. Supportive, waterproof, and reasonably stylish given what they are. Unfortunately I have one complaint and it kind of ruins my view of these boots/shoes: sizing. Like a few other people have said they're narrow in the ball of the foot area and uncomfortable after a while. I wear a 13 D (normal width) in Nikes and Asics so I thought 13 M would be fine. I got a 14 for comparison and that was looser than I expected while the 13s were a little snug, so I said "oh I'll size down a little." Not a smart choice. I wish I had kept the 14s or just returned both pairs. They're not unwearable, they're just uncomfortable after a while. Weirdly it only bothers me when sitting but not when standing or walking. I'd exchange them if I could but it's doubtless way too late now. Lesson learned.

Toe cap came unglued on both shoes within two weeks. After approx. three months of outdoor were they began disintegrating on my feet. I admit I wore these as I thought they were intended(i.e. outside in all types of weather). I believe they are more appropriate for going to the mall or to impress the girls. Probably work great at Starbucks. I put them in the trash about one hour ago as they were unwearable.

Great comfortable shoe but after 4 months my feet get wet. I got them because I walk through grass a lot. Never stood in water over top of shoe so they aren't totally waterproof.

These shoes appear to be durable and sturdy. Only complaint is that the right shoe feels just a touch smaller than the left for some unknown reason!

NOT waterproof... the first time the sprinkler hit my shoe my socks got wet. Went through it like a hot knife through butter? Blisters in my big toes (first time ever) and size was either too large or too small. I typically am happy with these shoes but this time they really sucked. Wonder if they changed manufacturer? Anyway, make sure they fit and if they don't take em back.

I bought these for a trip to Alaska. I am a women's 9 1/2 and I ordered a size 8 (they only come in men's sizes) While they were fine in the width, they fit exactly with no room to spare in the length, without any socks. I plan on wearing a medium thickness sock and there will be no room to spare in the toes. I'm ordering a half size larger in hopes that they fit better. I'm a runner / cyclist and only own dressy shoes and running / biking shoes so something this "rugged" is new for me. Maybe all these types of shoes run small. I gave only 2 star for style because I think they are really ugly, but better looking than any other similar shoe I have seen!
