These look great in the photos. The front of the shoe looks (and is) really flat in person. That means it was uncomfortable to walk. I got my normal size, which is 7. Maybe you would want to get a size up.

I've had these boots for 2 1/2 years now- I just replaced the insoles and am getting the soles redone at a cobbler. I did have to break them in after having to go a half size down due to being between sizes, but they stretched out just fine and are so comfortable. The boots are incredibly durable and well made!

These are great boots! Steve Madden is a genius. I thought I ordered a size 5, but got a 5.5 instead...I didn't realize it until I had worn it several times, and it's not too big, so I just kept it. Love the color.

It was exactly what I was looking for! Right on time! Extra comfortable. Excellent leather, pretty soft, total accuracy of sizes!

It took me a long time of looking at these to finally make the plunge and buy them because I wasn't sure I could pull off a combat boot. When I finally got them I fell in love. Great soft leather as super comfortable. I'm a size 7.5 and they fit perfect. Very happy with this purchase worth the money!

I purchased this boot about three years ago. I read reviews prior to my purchase and worried about the soles and leather quality. I really liked the look so I went ahead with the purchase. Prior to me wearing them, I got the soles replaced at a local cobbler ($20). After three years of wearing them at least once weekly (and almost daily in the fall and winter), I noticed no cracks or holes but I have had to replace the soles twice now. The only downside to re-soleing is that to match the new sole, they had to dye the heel. After years of owning them and only now revisiting the site, I must say I even forgot what the original heel design was. The leather does scuff easily. Prior to wet and salt season though, I take them to the cobbler for winterizing and after the season, they get buffed again. I have just picked them up from the cobbler today and they look brand new. Size wise, they do run very narrow. I normally wear a 6.5 but these are very narrow so I had to exchange them for a 7 (Thanks, Zappos). I usually wear thick socks anyway so it wasn't a problem. I haven't had any issues with the laces and zipper though so that's good. Now you may be thinking that there's too much maintenance involved but I do love these boots and want them to last so I think it's worth it. Overall, I would purchase these shoes again 10/10. They are extremely comfortable and very stylish. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star across is the necessity for changing the sole even before I got to wear them.

I have these shoes in brown and loved them so much I bought them in black! Super comfortable and very durable (3+ years with the brown shoes and they are still doing great). I haven't noticed any of the cracking mentioned in other reviews. There is a bit of wearing on the soles of my older shoes, but it doesn't affect their comfort in any way. My only complaint is that they take a while to break in. But I guess that's the price of real leather. Great shoes! I wear them all the time!

I loved these boots as soon as I took them out of the box. I had previously ordered a similar style in a different brand and they were way too stiff, but these are comfortable and far more flexible. They aren't cushy, orthopedic boots by any means, but definitely comfortable for walking around.

These are my favorite boots of all time! They look great. They feel great, and they're awesome!

If I could rate these boots higher than 5 stars, I would! I bought two new pairs of boots from Zappos and while I love them both, these have definitely gotten a lot more wear so far. They're cute to boot and comfortable once you break 'em in. At first they were a little stiff and felt smaller than a 7, but after wearing them a few times they felt perfect! Thanks Zappos!

Ordered these in the stone leather in my regular size. They are slightly narrow, but not uncomfortable - no blisters on the first day of wear and TONS of compliments.

These boots are super lightweight and very comfortable. I don't like the zipper and wish they were just lace up. I ride horses and wear them to do that. The stirrups of my saddle wore some of the dye off the insides of the boots. I was surprised and disappointed by that. The appearance might not be the best because of that but the comfort is terrific.

I love the boots; I love Zappos and have for years! I'll love you for years to come, I'm sure.

I haven't worn them yet, still too hot in Florida. They look great, seem to be good quality, and did I say they look great? Will be breaking them out next month in New Hampshire and plan to enjoy them a lot!!!

Bought these for my daughter's birthday in August for her to take on her semester abroad. When she came home in December, they were trashed. Scuffed up horribly, the soles worn through, etc. I did not take them back to Nordstrom because I was not sure how much she had worn them in Scotland. Now that I read all these other reviews, I wished I had. I was so disappointed in the quality.

These are my favorite shoes that I own. I've had them for more than a year now and they survived last year's winter. They still look like they're in almost new condition and I've worn them quite a bit over the year. I would definitely buy another pair once these finally do wear out.

Love these boots especially because they have an inside zipper. They are quite comfortable & easy to wear.

Style and looks are great. Sizing is true. However, it smells pretty gross. Like burning plastic instead of leather.

I waited 4 days for my boots and was beyond excited! But as soon as they came in, I realized Zappos messed up the order and i ended up with the wrong color. I had to send them back and wait again. Recommend ordering from the Steve Madden store itself!

I just recently bought that and love them. I have been debating for months whether to get them or not because I was not sure if I could pull off the look. I ended up buying an 8 and had to return them for a 7½ instead. The 7½ fits great and the leather is so soft and easy to break in. I paired them with burgundy pants got tons of compliments and I later paired them with white shorts and a girly top and they gave me the little edge I wanted and others took notice as well. Overall these are great boots. I cannot wait for fall when they come out with their other colors!

I got these and almost started wearing them out until I realized that you get ones that are seriously identical from the department store and the were about $35. I'm not saying its a bad boot, but don't waste your money. Just buy them from the store.

For the first couple of days I wore these boots, they were great. A few days in, I was kneeling on the floor and when I stood up I noticed the dark brown had literally rubbed off the toes of the boots. The description says that these are leather, but they are covered with some sort of veneer. I will be returning them.

I was looking all over for a perfect pair of flat booties. I initially resisted getting these because so many people have them and tried and returned many other styles. Now I know why so many other people have them. They look great and super comfortable.

We had a problem with our purchase: though beautiful the shoes did not last, but the company was wonderful to replace them. Not only were we ultimately satisfied with the product, but, also, all of our interactions with the company were positive. They were kind and respectful. Happy shopping!
