I am 5'4" and a bit overweight and find it very frustrating trying to buy boots at a retail store, as they don't generally have or know how to find wide calf models to show me, so I have to go through the process of trying on dozens of boots and finding none of them fit. I liked these boots so much I just bought a second pair in brown. I have big calves and they fit snugly but comfortably. I had also tried on some other boots called "wide calf" but the looseness of the calf had a very unappealing look. I haven't had them long so don't know about durability.

These are really nice boots! The leather is very nice. I don't like a boot that sags around my ankle (which to me looks like old lady socks) but the stack on these boot do not scrunch down! My calf measures 17" and there is ample room without it being overly huge! Not much for arch support (which is why I only gave it 4 stars) but I slip my extra arch supports in the bottom and they feel great all day! I am going to spray some water repellant on these, just to keep them in tip top shape!

I've been looking for riding boots forever, and I finally found them! I had tiny feet (6) but muscular calves so it is almost impossible to find boots that fit nicely. These do - and not too baggy at the ankle! These are also super comfy. I added an insert to make them even better and walked around NYC for 2 days in them with no problems. Yay finally!

I love my new boots! I have a 17 1/2 inch calf but these fit perfectly. A little snug when zipping them up but the leather stretches and they don't feel tight at all. I am so happy to finally have found a pair of boots that fit! When I first put them on, they bent into my ankles and that hurt a bit but when I wore them the first day, that didn't happen. I wore them all day and walked everywhere and didn't have any pain. Whew! I am tempted to get a pair in brown now!

I loved these boots but had to return them - they just weren't wide enough for my rather wide calves. The notches simply don't have enough flex. High quality boots, though!

These boots were comfortable from the minute I put them on. They seem to run true to size.

Great fit, nice boots. I have bad arches, and these have plenty of room for my arch supports. They were a little snug around the calf when they first arrived, but have stretched out after one wearing.

These boots are not only beautiful but so comfortable! There is plenty of calf room which is usually a problem for me but not with these. Do not hesitate as you will love them!

I have such a hard time finding comfortable boots and these fit perfectly. Perfect width and the calf is loose enough for a pair of jeans.

I love the style of this boot, but the calf isn't as wide as I had hoped for my extra-wide calves. I almost returned them, but after a I wore them for a while they were easier to zip up and not as snug on my calves. The actual shoe part of the boot is also not as wide as I would expect a WW to be. I am wearing them in rather than the boots fitting wonderfully right from the start.

I really like these boots...they are comfy, I can wear them all day at work and my feet don't hurt. I am really glad that I ordered 1/2 size too long and also wide width...even though my feet aren't super wide. I feel like they run a little narrow. They are narrow through the front. The wide shaft is super. I get a lot of compliments on them.

I usually wear a 10W. I have 17½" calves. I ordered half a size up per the other reviews that said these run narrow, so 10½W. These fit perfectly in the calf, I mean perfect. The width feels roomy but with decently thick socks it is just right as long as it does not stretch (which I think it might). The length is the only drawback for me. It looks about half a size too long and makes my feet look really long to me. Again the mere fact that the boot shaft fits so perfectly makes me want to keep them. If I send them back for a 10W I am afraid that the calf might be too tight. They look more business/dressy to me than everyday wear. The sole seems kinda cheap but the leather is soft and feels great. I would put an insole in right away as these are not very cushioned, I would not call it uncomfortable, still could be more cushion there. so overall I am torn. I ordered two more pairs of boots to try so I will see how these compare to the other brands I chose. I really need boots that I can wear everyday. If you have wide feet and large calves these should fit the bill if you like the style. I think I wil keep them.

Like the boots, and the wider calf fits great, but they seem to be a little narrow and about a half size too long for my foot. I would have needed to order a wider width and a half size smaller. Not the most comfortable soles, but they are not too uncomfortable to wear, just not a lot of support to them. I also had a little trouble with the zipper, and was almost worried I'd break it trying to zip and unzip the boots. Otherwise, the boots are cute and the leather is nice.

They look pretty well made but are not as comfortable as claimed but insoles would fix that, and also run large and narrow. If they had the wide width in my size I would re-order.

I like these boots as I have a hard time finding a boot that will zip once my jeans are tucked into the boot. The shaft height for this boot was also perfect for me as I am 5' 2".

Cute boot and fit my wide calf, but the shaft was too tall for me (I'm 5'3" with short legs). The top of the shaft was also quite wide/gapped. The style of the boot was cute though and very classic looking. Wish I was taller!

I just received this boot and I'm quite happy. First, let me start by saying I have huge athletic/chub calves (when I'm a little chubbier, they're big. When I'm super fit, they're big). I measured just now, measuring liberally with no tug, they're 17 in., 16 or so with the tape slightly snug. With that, I have quite small ankles, comparatively, and I'm a size 8.5 "r" shoe size. I have a horrid time finding boots and usually decide on ones with a lot of goring, or laces. But...these fit! Fit: They are snug enough for the leather to touch my leg all the way up with leggings on, but loose enough for me to push my entire hand in, albeit quite snug. It feels tight enough that I have that great "I'm in my boots and they hold up my legs because I'm a cowboy" feeling, but loose enough that they're comfortable and don't even hint and cutting off my circulation or leaving any lines of demarcation on my precious stumps. The unusual cut of the boot makes the top front part look like it's actually not meant to hug my giant calf (Is this real life?!). Dare I say it, my leg looks slimmer. Squeeeee! The ankle is a little loose, but compared to other big-calf boots I've purchased, it's quite small. The only part of the fit that I am iffy about is the width. They feel quite narrow, and although I think my feet may be a bit wide (sometimes skinny sandals look a little odd on me) they aren't so wide as to warrant me ever buying "w." So, I'd say go a size up in width if you have feet hinting at "wide" in the slightest. Otherwise, I'm an 8.5, I ordered an 8.5 and it's true to size. Style: I was a little unsure about the whole pebbled leather thing, but I actually love the look of these. The leather is quite soft and supple, and that telltale half-sheen of pebbled leather looks really genuine. The length is quite great on me hitting about 2.5 inches below the middle of my kneecap when I am standing. For reference, I'm 5 3". I was also a little unsure about the buckle, being so slim an unassuming, but I'm actually really digging it. It's subtle enough that I can wear these with various jewelry styles (I'm often super picky about gold/silver accent mixing) and it won't look out of place. The heel is also small enough to be casual, which I like, but the boot is sleek enough to be a little dressy too. Overall, these give me the vibe of cute riding boots with just a hint of moto boot pizazz. I think I'm in love. Over-over all, I'd say if you're a wide-calved girl looking for a great pair of sleek casual black riding or motorcycle style boots, pick these up. I'm honestly surprised I was able to find such a great looking boot for my legs that doesn't have a ton of goring. I would be giving these a 5 if it weren't for the narrow foot. Great boots, give 'em a try!

I love these, but they are not without their problems. They look great and are comfy - love the flexible sole and cushioning - but the fit is kind of weird. The foot is very long and extremely narrow. My "best" size is normally a 6.5/7 WW (I ordered a 6.5WW in these), but these were so tight in the foot I really had to shove to get my foot in. They did loosen with the warmth of my foot and were fine for a few hours. I will definitely have to stretch them before wearing these all day or when I'm going to be on my feet a lot, though. The shaft is also not overly wide. I am normally borderline between regular and wide-shaft and these just barely fit. I could wear tights, but even thick leggings push this into the "cannot zip" zone for me. I do like that they're not so high that they poke the backs of my knees when I walk - at 5'2" I normally have to suck it up and deal, but not with these. Overall, these are great, but not perfect for me.

Even though I returned them (they were a little boring for me), I wanted to let others know that they are awesome quality, very comfortable, great support. I am definitely going to check out other Fitzwell options!

I've had a lot of trouble finding boots that fit. These are the first pair I've found that do! I don't necessarily think I have huge calves, just larger than average, but since I'm short (5'), the widest part of the shaft of a boot doesn't hit me where it hits other people. I ordered a half size larger than my normal shoe size. These Fitzwells fit over my calves and jeans! In fact, they flare out a little at the top. I like the length, just below the knees. I thought the material of the leather would be stiffer, as in it would stand up on its own, but the boot falls over when you're not wearing them. It is very supple though, as is the inside of the boot. I am disappointed in the arch support. I don't feel like there is much and though I wear them for long periods of time, is not that comfortable by the end of the day. I will definitely get gel inserts for them. The width of the foot seems fine, except at the toes they pinch just a little in the beginning. The design is pretty basic, which works for me; I don't like a bunch of buckles, etc. Overall, very happy with these boots! They're definitely not made for those with skinny calves, but have worked out very well for me!

I just received my Uggs and I love them. First of all Zappos is amazing. They have great customer service and they shipped three pairs of Uggs in a week and I ordered them on all different days. I am a size 6 women and was not sure what I would be in kids so I ordered a 6 kids and they were too big i then ordered a 5 kids and was still too big and the size 4 kids were perfect. They are very comfortable and warm.

I loved the fit, style, comfort. However, the gel pack in the heel of one of the shoes just dissipated after about 3 months and the gel got all over my socks, the inside of the boot, etc. I guess I should contact the company about a replacement.

The boot fit great, which was a miracle after how many I've tried on! Unfortunately, the leather just looked a little too cheap for the price. The hunt continues...

I loved these boots when I first tried them on, and even more as I began to break them in. The second time I wore them, I wore them for 17 hours with no pain! There was one major problem though, the heel pad (gel insert) on the right boot busted open within two weeks of me buying the boots. Now, normally I would take advantage of Zappos' return policy, but the gel pad had always seemed a little off centered on my right foot, and it being gone actually improved the boot. It did cause a gel mess, and ruined a sock, but I was able to pull up the lining of the boot, cut across the felt where the gel pad ended, and replace the entire footbed with a simple foam liner. The boots fit great now - but I would say that it concerned me from a manufacturing standpoint. I hope to not run into any more problems with these boots!
