I loved the look of these boots. I also have a narrow foot and loved that I didn't flop around in them. Unfortunately I had 2 issues. I had difficulty with the comfort of the tongue against my ankle due to a sharp edge on the seam. I tried a different pair on in a store and although it was better it still was not as comfortable as some of the other boots I tried on. It was also less supportive. Even after putting my orthotics in the shoe I was still pronating in them. Very disappointed in the lack of support, especially for the price. I will be sending them back.

I'm so disappointed in these hiking boots! They're apparently very well made and they're super good-looking, but they run VERY narrow and at least half a size too small - and I have a narrow foot! I'm scared to try another pair in a larger size and have to go through the hassle of returning them. (The nearest UPS store is 25 miles away from my home.) Oh well - I guess I'll have to make the trip to a sports store and try on hiking boots before I buy them. Arghhhhh!

Really nice lightweight hiking boot but it just didn't fit me right. The heel cup is a little big so I couldn't secure my heel. Other issue is that the cuff is quite rigid and there is little padding, so the cuff was digging into my calf. I really wanted these boots to work since they are so light with a pretty stiff sole...and they look cute! I'm going to try the Salomon Comet 3D instead.

I wanted to love this boot but more importantly, I wanted it to be as comfortable as it was stylish. It is a nice looking boot but I wouldn't care to wear it for long periods of time. It was horrible but I was disappointed. I'll keep it but it won't be a big favorite.

If you have high arches, this may be a great boot for you. The insole is removable, so you could also replace the insole if you have more moderate arches. I found the tops of the boot kept cutting into my leg. If it hadn't been for that, I might have kept them (switching out the insoles for something less built up in the arch).

I wanted to like them but they were too narrow for me. I have high insteps so maybe it's because the tongue is sewed down on top of foot. I think this is to make them waterproof. I liked them a lot but they don't fit me.

These shoes are pretty comfortable, however, I seem to get sore above my ankles and around the top of the boot. But in all fairness, I only wore them 2 days prior and then went hiking/hunting in them for two days. So I probably would break them in a lot more first!

As another reviewer noted, one boot (the right one) was noticeably smaller than the other. The left boot fit perfectly but the right boot was too small lengthwise (so much so that I double-checked to be sure I got all the paper out of the toe). Visually it looks narrower too - the width of the toe box between the stitching was about 1/16 to 1/8 inch smaller. I'm going to try to order another pair and hope they will fit because they seem awesome. I wear a size 11 so ordering a half-size larger may not be an option for me.

I'm disappointed these didn't work out for me, because they are exceptionally comfortable and fit my wide toes/narrow heel very well. Rarely do hiking boots feel as good as these did right out of the box. But I find them to be terrible on wet rock--I slip in these far more than any other hiking boot I've owned. I also suspect they will wear out fairly quickly--perhaps that's the tradeoff for their comfort. But I'm switching to Merrell Moabs, which have much better traction.

I bought these boots 5 months ago for dog walking in any weather (I live in central NY). They were comfortable right out of the box and otherwise excellent in every way until this morning, when they leaked. There's a tiny gap between the sole and upper, right next to a seam. So sad.

I bought these as a replacement for the same boot that I've worn for 2 years, same color. After wearing the new pair once when there was snow on the ground, the blue uppers are water stained. I never had this problem with my old pair after much use. There is a quality issue now.

I purchased these boots from an outfitter in Maine. I loved the look and the fit. I have high arches, and can wear these all day without insoles/orthotics. However, the grip is TERRIBLE on wet surfaces. I have had these for two years and have worn them hiking in Maine, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands where I live. I have fallen while wearing them a few times after slipping on wet rock, roots, and wooden walkways. One should be able to trust the shoes they wear--in any condition. I live in the Virgin Islands on property with multiple trails, and I now only choose to wear these on dry days. I do a lot of work outside and use these as work boots, too. Although I did not buy them from Zappos, I felt that I needed to write a review because there are so many five star reviews, but I've read little about the grip and walking on slippery surfaces. If these had better traction in wet conditions, they would earn a five-star review from me. Next time I buy hiking boots, I am going to try Icebug.

I bought these boots 3 or 4 years ago for week-long hiking trips once or twice a year, so they've been used about 5 or 6 times and sat in the closet the rest of the time. As many other reviewers have noted, they are super comfortable with no break-in required. I found the traction and overall stability to be good even on rocky, gravely descents. They still look nice too. But -- and it's a huge but with me -- the waterproofing has not lasted at all on either boot. They become soaked just from walking through wet vegetation. I am very disappointed in the Anhus. As a side note, I've also had two pairs of the shoe version of the Anhu Montara for daily cross-country walks with my dog. They did not last at all. The waterproofing was minimal from the start, and before long, the leather cracked and split away from the sole. Sadly, I will not waste any more money on Anhus, despite the superior comfort, cute styling and great colors.

I loved the fit and comfort of these boots, but they have worn out so quickly that I cannot recommend them. I have been wearing them to walk my dog on a dirt road and around my property, which is grass, for just over three months. They developed a squeak in the heel a few weeks after wearing them. Now, they are no longer waterproof. They also look very worn out despite the fact that I have been rotating them with another pair of boots (which still look and feel almost new). It is very disappointed that they have not held up because they are the most comfortable boots that I have worn.

Great looks but I had problems with the fit around ankle. The boot has a blister potential pinch point just below the outside ankle bone. I tried wearing them around the house for several hours, I changed socks three times, but I could not get the pinch point to go away. I was too worried that I would get a blister if I took these boots out on the trail. I had also ordered the Asolo Yuma which has a wonderful fit, roomy toe box, stiff protective toe cover, light as a feather, and ankle cuff has a cut out in the back whereas the Ahnu does not. The Asolo has a stiffer sole which I think is better for trail hiking. The Asolo is more like a high top tennis shoe with a very flexible sole which is ok if you do not need a lot of support or if you will be walking on smooth trails without rocks.

I usually wear 8 1/2 size shoes but felt the 8 1/2 size boot was slightly tight with wearing thicker hiking socks and decided to switch to 9 size which fit very well. During my hiking trip to Scotland with the wet terrain, I was hoping the waterproof feature of these boots would keep my feet dry. However, I discovered that the tongue area of the boots was soaking in with water on light hiking trails (not boggy areas) despite wearing gaiters to minimize as much water exposure to the boots openings. After experiencing this, I feared that I couldn't hike in these boots in serious boggy trails.

Initially I just had a small blister on my inner ankle from wearing these. The second time however I developed intense pain over that ankle and it spread across the top of my ankle. There is obvious swelling and bruising now. The other foot was fine...but my feet look symmetric. I will need to send them back. Luckily Zappos is very sympathetic and is happy to take them back.

Initially I loved these boots. They are nice looking, comfortable, and keep your feet ventilated while hiking. However, the suede is ripping on one side, near the sole and is not repairable. I've owned them less than a year, and due to a very busy spring/summer, hardly worked them out as I would have normally used a hiking boot. I wouldn't get these if you actually plan to use them for hiking. Great otherwise.

This is a great-looking boot. True to size. But it is so stiff, especially around the ankle and lower leg, that I got leg/ankle pain wearing them. And I'm not talking for hours hiking. Just around the snowy city, here and there,in and out of my car. No long distances. Very disappointing. I can't wear them at all.

After reading the reviews, I was hoping to love this boot. Aside from being too short, the tongue pinched both ankles right below the ankle bone. I do have an issue with moderate pronation, which is why I think I had a problem. The boots seem well made but sadly I had to return them. My search for the perfect hiking boot continues.

These run narrow...I'm a 7M and the fit was uncomfortably snug with average socks. In addition, my pair arrived with a missing lace bracket on the top of one boot. The trim was also messy, leading to workmanship concerns in a boot at this price point. Cute boot but these factors are leading to their return.

I am returning these boots because they are simply too tight in the front toebox section. After walking a bit around the house, my toes are squished together and my heel does raise up when walking, something I don't want when I'll be hiking outside. I'm disappointed and wish Ahnu made boots in sizes larger than 11 and in wider widths. If they did I would order a half size larger. They give no love to women with large feet.

Sadly, I found these to be really flimsy. Was expecting sturdier, more breathable boot. Would not recommend, particularly for serious hiking. Also not supportive for my flat feet.

I was so excited when I first put these boots on. They look great. Amazingly lightweight. I have a bunion and a relatively wide foot, so the roomy toe box was terrific. The sole is very good at gripping in slippery conditions. The good things stop there. I simply couldn't get the high top to be comfortable. I'm of average build, certainly not skinny, so that may end up being a problem for others too. It kept hitting in the wrong spot. My heel was very loose, no matter how I tied it. I thought I would try the shoe out anyway and we took an hour and half hike up the hill in the rainy concrete jungle. Again, loved the grip of the sole, given that there were wet leaves. Very waterproof. The tops gave a little bit, but I would never take them on a long hike - and when I got back, the bottoms of my feet were sore! That doesn't happen with some of the others. I'm going to try an insert to see if that helps. I'm going to keep them as an alternative to my snow boots (living part time in Montreal, you really need something waterproof between the rain and the slushy snow). They are not horrible, but I won't use them for a hiking boot, which was why I bought them. I'm off in search of a waterproof hiking shoe for our trek on the Inca Trail.

The soles are too thin for this Ahnu Montara boot to give good support. I like everything else about it. It is waterproof, stylish and laces up quickly. But just a normal size pebble will be felt through the sole, and the bottom of my foot gets tired, making it a boot I cannot recommend even for nature walks, let alone hiking. I think for anyone spending more than a few hours a day wearing it, this won't keep their feet healthy. If you have trouble with your feet, you should find a different pair of boots. I was really disappointed after wearing them awhile, because I needed a new pair of boots for rainy weather that are waterproof and still stylish, just for everyday and morning walks. I had to stop wearing these and get the New Balance WW928WT walking shoe that I always wore before, with soles thick enough to absorb the impact of the feet when they hit the ground. This boot is very lightweight, but that might be because the company failed to design it with a thick enough sole to keep you feet protected from impact. There is a hikers review online that has the same observations about this, and also says the sides get wrinkled and collapse, attaching a photo showing the sides folding in. That review does not recommend it for hiking, especially with a backpack. It's also very disappointing that the Ahnu company never responded when I contacted them about returning this boot, as it was worn and can't be exchanged at the store.
