Love, love, love this boot! I have problem feet (very narrow at the heel and wide at the ball/toes, along with a bunion and some hammer toes, etc.) and these boot really work for me. The toe box is roomy and remains comfortable even with a medium to thick weight sock. They are also light weight which is a plus when you are packing them for travel.

Absolutely an unbelievable miracle shoe! This is the best shoe I have ever put on my feet. The other reviews persuaded me to try these Ahnu boots, and I am glad I did, as it has encouraged me to be much more active. Here is why I love this shoe: - Multi-purpose: It works well as a snow boot, hiking/walking boot, and a travel shoe. - High-quality and Durable: I use it to walk my dogs 2 miles a day. - Extremely Comfortable: I have worn this shoe on 3 major city trips with no aching feet after long days on concrete (wish I had these shoes years ago for all my past vacations). - Very lightweight. - You forget that you have them on, unlike all other boots I've owned. I have recommended this shoe to all my girlfriends and my mom.

Fit great. I have been looking for a great lace up boot, that fit good enough for hiking and yet, I could wear to the store or out and about. The style and the comfort are just what I wanted. Because of foot issues, I am hard to please, too.

I've had these boots through two winters (including the current tough one), and they have been pretty great. The boots were a bit stiff when I first purchased them, but once you break them in they are comfortable. Walking in deep puddles has not caused any water to leak in and my feet continue to stay warm even in just one pair of socks.

I love these shoes if only the stitching/sewing was done correctly but the incorrect stitching made the material twisted in the inner aspect of the left shoe so I am exchanging for the same style but no faulty workmanship.

Lightweight, warm for winter walks, comfy right out of the box. Couldn't be happier. I typically have difficulty with hiking boots as my heels rub significantly at the back of every pair I've owned. But so far these are my favorite. Highly recommend for hiking, winter boot or supportive walking shoe.

Great hiking boot. I got these after wearing an old pair rubbed big blisters on my heels. My heels were still healing and these fit great and didn't rub right out of the box, which is never true for me. Very true to size. I run from 7.5 to 8 and with hiking socks these were perfect at an 8. Also, really attractive for a hiking boot too. I had no problem wearing these out and about because they really are nice looking. I had never heard of this brand but I'm a convert. They are also really light-weight for a hiking boot which helps with the comfort.

Absolutely love these boots -- very well constructed, lightweight, excellent arch support, look great, too. Fit my feet exceptionally well. This was my first purchase of Ahnu footwear -- I liked them so much I immediately ordered a pair of Ahnu shoes from Zappos. Great customer service from Zappos, as always.

Feb 2014 - hiked the 5-day Umbwe route of Mt. Kilimanjaro in my Montaras. Trekked through tropical heat, torrential rains, snow, mud, hail, etc. Boots really took a beating. But, feet remained toasty dry & 100% blister-free through it all! (I did treat boots with SnoSeal & a silicone spray waterproofer before the trek). Couple notes: Sizing (width) is inconsistent. As some reviewers mentioned, right boot is often narrower than left. I went through several orders to find a pair where I was happy with color and width fit. Ordering a size up does not help – even with the extra length, I was still able to feel the narrowness inconsistency. That being said, it is worth the hassle of plowing through the duds to find a ‘good’ pair, especially with Zappos’ shipping policy. These boots are great. I usually wear an 8.5-9 in athletic shoes (always a 9 in running shoes - Sauconys) and have normal-slightly narrow feet. When I finally found a good pair width-wise, the size 8.5 was great. Had ample room for the thick wool hiking socks I wore at higher altitudes. 5-star for comfort and style (Smokey Brown Leather). Get the Montara hiking boots if you can deal with the potential width inconsistency. You won’t be disappointed!

These boots were awesome right out of the box. Great support and comfort. I had ordered 6 different boots and it was obvious right from the minute I put these on that they were the ones for me, although they were the most expensive. The others all went back (Thank you Zappos!). I have bunions and bunionettes on the outside and heels and I encountered no problems. I wore them for 2 evenings in the house and then went for a 3 mile hike. I had to wear a pad on the front of my ankle the first hike until that part was broken in, after that, perfect. They were so nice, my husband also bought the men's version, and he is very pleased.

I love this boot! It is sturdy with its vibram sole but light enough to walk long distances. Great on the trail or in the snow. The weather proof leather construction runs a little tight, but loosens up for a perfect fit in a very short break-in period. This is my first pair of Ahnu boots, but I will definitely buy them again. Great price too for a boot like this.

I love these boots! When I realized the winter of 2014 was going to be very cold and snowy I knew it was time to buy some new boots. These boots have kept my toes warm in sub zero temps. They felt true to size but I did order a half size up to accommodate my thick wool socks and the fit was perfect. The boots are light, flexible enough and comfortable. The top does not cut into my legs. Excellent purchase!

I already had the Montara II, and felt I might like the boot. I had ordered a half size up in the shoe but ordered my true size in this boot, which fit fine. Comfy right out of the box. I love the variations in colors of the linings as well as the colors of the boots themselves. As always, the Zappos folks are super!

I ordered these boots specifically to help in my rehab process after recovering from a broken ankle. They are more flexible and lighter than my regular hiking boots, and they're roomy enough for an ankle brace. I usually wear a 9 but ordered these in a 10, partly for the brace but also for bunion space. Now that I am out of the brace, I wear the boots with thick socks, and they seem to fit perfectly. So I would say the sizing is on the small side. They're very comfortable and look fairly stylish for hiking boots. I only wish they had the extra lacing hook that some boots have to help tighten the ankle. I tried more expensive boots but found all of them too stiff and heavy, and definitely not as cute.

This boot fit perfectly. The footbed is comfortable, and there is enough thickness on the bottom to feel warm and cushioned. I need an "urban walker," so the ankle collar was a bit too high for that. But perfect for a hiking boot.

Love these boots. Usually I wear a 10, sometimes a 9 1/2. I ordered the 10 and it fit perfectly. They are surprisingly light weight and no break in time necessary. Out of the box and all over the zoo with no breaking time was fine.

I wore these boots for 9 hours right out of the box. No kidding. They are extremely comfortable, have a roomy toe box & good arch support. My "piggies" were warm & dry in wet, sloppy sleet & several inches of slush. I would say they run a 1/2 size small. I wear a 9.5 & the 10 fit perfectly. I also have flat feet & a less-than-perfect right foot after multiple surgeries. I was able to wear this boot with my full size orthotic. So far, after 1 day I love them!

I have a wide-ish fore foot, narrow heel. In a boot I always order a size up if the boot does not come in a W...as in this boot. I wear a 9 1/2 usually with something in the heel to keep shoe from slipping. Got this in a 10, feels great from the first wearing and putting them on. Foot feels very supported yet I don't feel like I am wearing Frankenstein shoes...another pair I ordered felt like that or ski boots but were not. Like them, they are not clunky just hope the hold me up in the snow, I'm going to Wisconsin...never experienced winter like that.

Incredible hiker. This is the hiker I have searched for. My teen daughter needed a pair for camp and I decided to try these based on the reviews. We are not disappointed. They are true to size, did not require a breaking in period, great looks, good durability and most importantly lightweight. My daughter trekked through streams and her feet stayed dry. No blisters...first time ever! I'm so impressed, I plan to buy a pair as well. I have always been true to Merrell's when it comes to hikers, however, I am forever changed. You have to try this boot!

I've worn these boots on a few easy hikes now and they're great. They don't really need broken in. The arch support is great. If I have any complaints it's that the back of the shoe pushes on my ankle, causing a bit of discomfort. I'm expecting this to loosen up a little more after I take a much longer hike or two.

These boots are amazing! I am a bit clumsy on my feet (in fact, all the women in my family are. It's a running joke). These boots are snug and secure in all the right places (great arch and ankle support), to the point that they actually help my feet fall into correct placement. I can hike without worrying about twisting my ankles on every step. I also have problems with wide toes or most shoes crushing my feet across the forefoot. Not with these. I was worried about all the remarks and needing to order one half size larger, because they were out of size 8-1/2 (I usually wear a 7-1/2 dress shoe, 8 in all else). I decided to risk it, and try the 8 out since I live in AZ , and will rarely need to wear thick socks with the boot. I'm glad I did, because they fit perfectly! I highly recommend these boots to anyone. They are extremely comfortable and super cute as well!

When I first got these boots I was not sure I would be able to wear them. They do need wearing and the right socks and they are the most comfortable boot with the break in time. I love these and would buy another pair. Well worth the price. I have a high arch and wide foot and found them to be very supportive. Easy to wear walking anywhere.

The foot and ankle support on these are AMAZING! I normally twist my ankle all the time so I was looking for a hiking boot that would give me good ankle support. These more than fit the bill. The footbed is also very comfortable. I have to wear them with REALLY thick wool socks in order to stop the top part from cutting above leg. I think I might end up putting medical tape or cushion or SOMETHING b/c I tried to wear them without my long thick socks and I could feel them digging in and when I took them off I had a couple cuts. I tried wearing them with the laces lose and tight and up to the top and around the middle. It didn't matter how I wore them. Would I recommend them? DEFINITELY... just wear them with long thick socks. And, they do need some break-in time.
