I love my black wellies, and after my first purchase on Zappos have been recommending the company to everyone! Here is a couple points on (1) selecting Hunter or Huntress, (2) sizing, and (3) Zappos! (1) In terms of deciding between Hunter original versus Huntress, it comes down to your size. I recommend pulling out your tape measure to find your height and calf circumference before purchasing. Then you can determine whether or not you want the Hunter original or Huntress. Since I am 5'4" with shorter legs and a wider calf (15" at the widest point), the Huntress was perfect height and width with skinny jeans and/or leggings. I also like the shape of the Huntress - a little sleeker at the bottom of the calf - a similar way of balancing me out to boot-cut jeans. If you have thinner calves or longer legs, you might opt for the Hunter original instead of the Huntress. For curvier girls, the Huntress is the way to go! (2) Also, order a size smaller than usual. As a point of reference, I wear a size 8 or 8.5 in Bandalino, Naturalizer, Adidas, Steve Madden, Nine West, etc, and I ordered a size 7 in the Huntress, which fit just right, especially with the bootie. (3) I highly recommend purchasing from Zappos. The boots arrived earlier than expected (within 2 days for standard shipping). I had to exchange for size (originally ordered an 8) and the sales reps were a breath of fresh air. It's a terrific company. We had a really rainy season in St. Louis this Spring, and the boots kept my feet dry. They were easy to clean. I purchased the boot for colder days, too. Can't wait to try them in the snow next year. Hope this review helps you make the purchase. They are well worth the price, even though it's a bit higher than I would normally spend on shoes.

Great boots. I had ordered the original Hunter boots first but they were too tight around my calf. I don't have large calves by any means so I was surprised by their fit. I was hesitant to purchase the Huntress boot because I thought the calf of the boot would look too big and bulky. I was wrong. They fit just the way they should. While the boots run small in the calf, they run big in the foot. You can order a size down from what you normally wear. I was a size smaller in both boots even though I have wider feet. If you're going to order these boots, get them from Zappos. They make returns and credits really easy for you.

These boots are okay only. I wish I could fit into the original (there's no chance of that), I really do not care much of the look on these. They are 16 and a half around the calv, I have 16 inch calves and although they fit me, I cannot put thick socks on, only thin knee high socks. I wanted them for the brand (and the look), but I actually needed them to walk my dog in the rain. Well when I got them, there were scratches all over and when I wore them this morning for the first time they were uncomfortable. There is no foot support and the bottom of the boot is so thin I could feel every rock on the road. I will keep them for their waterproofness, but it would be best if I could use them mostly on a sidewalk, definitely not on a rocky road since I can feel through the bottom. Otherwise I am size 8 and they fit me well, nine would be too big.

I am very happy with my Hunter boots. They kept my feet warm and dry on a ski trip and were very comfortable. However, I had a hard time with the size. I ordered the mens by mistake. Make sure to check the size when you get yours. If it says for example: 9M (That's 9 male/8 female). Also I usually wear an 8 1/2 and the 8 fit me perfectly. Zappos was great with the returns though. Very helpful and nice.

I wanted to write a review for this product to share with others info on the sizing, since I struggled with knowing what size to get while knowing Hunters run large. Well, they run even larger than I expected! I wear a size 9.5 normally, so at first I ordered a size 9. They were way too big! I then ordered a size 8. I was worried they would be too snug, but the size 8 fit perfectly, even leaving me with enough room to wear some thick, heavy wool socks if I wanted. I was surprised at how large these boots run. I also ordered the Hunter Originals in the gloss to compare the fit between those and the Huntress. I love the taller height of the Hunter Originals, but they weren't practical for me at all. With the originals there is no way you can wear them over a pair of jeans - you would be limited to just bare legs or leggings with the Originals. Even with that they are somewhat constricting. I don't consider myself to have large calves, either. The Huntress is great because you can wear them over jeans comfortably and it is not a huge struggle to take them off as is the case with the more narrow Hunter Originals. In fact it is quite easy to take the Huntress boots off, and in my opinion they offer a much more comfortable and practical fit. Also, the height of the Huntress boot shaft is not that much shorter than the Originals. It's not as big of a difference as I thought it would be. So if you want to wear your boots over jeans or pants, and you are looking for a practical and comfortable boot, definitely go with the Huntress! And definitely size down from your normal shoe size. I sized down an entire one and a half sizes!

Perfect for this rainy Cleveland weather! You can't even tell that they are wider. I should have gotten navy instead I got boring black. Exchanged my original Hunter boots easily. Zappos is the best! Only negative comment is the buckle when you cross your legs.

Wow! I am very impressed with Zappos' customer service. I ordered my daughter a pair of Hunter rain boots for her birthday. Of course, she insisted on the matte finish but changed her mind when she got them and wanted glossy. After speaking with a representative, I was told they were shipping the new ones before I even returned the old ones. The new ones came in one day and I got a pre-paid return label for the exchange. There is no way to top that. You can definitely shop with confidence at Zappos!

The experience I had was wonderful, especially after one year of purchasing the boots they were kind enough to have us switch them.It turned out we kept the original ones since there was no difference in them. But Zappos went above and beyond to satisfy us. The only problem with the boot and not Zappos fault was that they were not as glossy as we had seen before.

I bought these boots after ordering the Original Hunter Gloss boots and found them to be too long for me. I'm 5'4" but the Originals came slightly above my knees and didn't look right. The Huntress was the perfect length and could also accommodate my athletic calves. I was able to pair these with the Hunter sock liners, a pair of socks plus leggings. Also a plus is I don't need help taking them off like the Originals. My only complaint is that they don't come In any of the bright colors like the Original. Still the glossy black is nice neutral and don't look at all like motorcycle cop boots, which was a concern of mine.

Love, love, love these! No more wet feet on campus when it rains. I did go a size down and they fit perfect!

Love these boots! I had all but given up total hope for a rain boot that accommodated my huge, dancer calves. But I found these and the extra room is perfect! I have 14 inch calves for reference. Also, I wear a 6 or 6.5 and I ordered a 6 in these and they were perfect. Yes, a bit roomy for some people but it allows you to wear warmer socks!

Love and in love. I love these boots especially in black gloss. I'm an 8 but ordered a 7 as suggested by other reviews and sent them back for an 8. I also have a wider calf and these boots fit very well which isn't a small feat. I'm looking forward in using them while in England. Oh and prepare for stares and compliments. Girls love them!

I absolutely love these boots. This is my second pair. The first pair finally started to wear out after four long Chicago winters. They are definitely worth the money. And they are super comfortable. I ordered a full size down. The Huntress fits me the best and I have plenty of room to tuck my jeans in. I just wish Huntress came in lots more colors. But still I love them!

These boots are wonderful! I wore them to work this morning since we are having a crazy downpour! Initially, I ordered the regular Hunter style, but apparently, I have big calves, as they fit me, but there wouldn't be much wiggle room if I wanted to wear something other than tight, thin leggings. So, I returned those for the Huntress and changed to the Gloss version so that I wouldn't have to worry about that white, waxy coating on the non-gloss boots. I am so happy with these, and they are easier to move in than the regular Hunters because they don't come all the way up to my knees, restricting my movement. I couldn't be happier with this purchase, or with the great customer service at Zappos.com!

I love the look of the Huntress Gloss boots. I have always had a problem with finding boots that fit my 16¾" calves. There is no stretch to these boots so when it says 16½" that is all you are going to get. Since they are so close to a perfect fit, I am keeping them in hopes that I can slim down just a bit in the future. They seem to be excellent quality. Only one negative about the gloss, they show every little fingerprint or smudge.

I have really wide calves (seriously no boots fit me, unless they have elastic). I also have wide (like E) & flat feet. Yet, these boots fit in both respects! I only wish Hunter made 1/2 sizes because I can't wear too thick a sock with them & I would have tripped in the next size up.

I bought these in red (gloss) and love them. I really wanted the fuchsia, but the ones that came to me had been worn and had a stain. Zappos is wonderful and took care of the return quickly. Your feet stay warm and dry with the hunter sock inserts.

Phenomenal boots thus far. Just a bit big for my size, I typically wear a 7, but I probably should've gotten a 6. Keeping them, nevertheless.

Love Hunter boots; they keep my feet so dry when it's raining and still keeps its shine after. I stepped in a ridiculous puddle the other day, it was torrential like rains and my feet were so dry. Word of advice - get the welly socks or some kind of thermal socks because I wore tall reg socks and my feet were cold.

Finally a stylish rain boot that fits my "athletic" calves. I've tried on several other styles and they were all too tight in the calf area. The Huntress is the perfect fit. I normally wear a size 7-1/2 or 8 and I purchased these in the size 7 after reading other reviews and they fit perfectly. Love Zappos, the customer service can't be beat.

After buying the Hunter Original and being disappointed with the calf width, I started looking into rain boots that have a wider calf width for athletic calves. I ordered the Hunter Huntress, and they are perfect! They are just like the original but have room in the calf. They look and fit great with or without the sock inserts. If you have trouble finding boots that fit your athletic calves, these are the rain boots for you! Love them!

I ordered the Huntress because it is wider and I have a wide foot. It is a beautiful boot and I love it. However, instead of running big like other reviews indicate, my experience was different. I ordered my size 10 and it was too perfect and I am not sure I would be able to wear these with very heavy socks. I will soon return these for a size 11 when customer service says it is available. I recommend that you get your regular size and not a size down. Enjoy.

Everyone in family wears Hunter boots. We are outdoors people that need a reliable boot, we choose Hunters!

Love these boots! My only two complaints are that 1) they scuff very easily and 2) they are very wide in the ankles. By definition I have wide calves so I was very pleased to see that Hunter offered a rain boot with 16 inch calves. I am a true size 10 so these boots feel about a half size larger than a normal 10, so they are roomy, yet still super comfortable. They are also easy to pull on/off. Just ordered some Hunter Welly socks so hopefully that will help with the wide ankles and roominess. I highly recommend this product to any person who has trouble with regular size calf rain boots! Zappos has super easy returns so you have nothing to lose!

Got these boots for my sister for her birthday and she absolutely loved them. They are true to size and the calves fit hers perfectly. I was really amazed at how quickly the shoes were delivered...ordered on a Sunday and received them on a Tuesday! Definitely buying from Zappos again!
