I ordered the Huntress boot because of the wide calf but ended up being very disappointed. The regular calf size must be teeny tiny, if this is considered "wide."

I had purchased a non gloss and gloss pair of these boots. I love both but got the gloss because of the finish on the boots. In the end the gloss pair after one wear looked the same as the non gloss. I had purchased both of the Hunter cleaning products and they continue to look non-gloss. I love Zappos but these boots are a letdown.

These rainboots are very comfortable and offer great support. They can be a bit hard (and dangerous to drive in) so I don't recommend that. The pair I ordered fit perfectly. I am a size 9.5 wide and I ordered a 9. I wouldn't want them any bigger or smaller. The calf is very generously sized and I can fit jeans into them with room to spare. My calf size is 15.25". The only complaint I have is that the pair I ordered came in full bloom! For those not familiar with Hunter rain boots, the rubber can naturally "bloom" which means it gets an ashy white finish to it. My pair must have been stored in a warehouse for a long time, because the box was really beat up and the boots were very bloomed. There wasn't an inch of the boots that had a glossy finish to it. However, I like the bloom as I think it makes them look more worn in and loved, so I didn't mind, however, it was slightly annoying to not received a "perfect pair". I didn't care enough to return them.

WOW! I absolutely love my 1st rain boots, they are so pretty, the Merlot is so pretty but not too bright.I just ordered my boots last night at 9pm est and received them at noon the next day. The Circumference on these are perfect for my 15" calves. There's plenty of room for my welly socks (which will arrived tomorrow from Zappos as well). Thank you Zappos for my awesome purchase, HAPPPY HAPPY! JOY! JOY!

Great boots! I got a smaller size, per other reviews, and the smaller size is fine, but I also think my usual size would have been fine, too. These are nice looking and comfortable. A good buy!

Hunter Huntress rain boots are great for shorter people. I am 5'3" and they are just the right height... an inch below my knee. The calf fits comfortably as well. Thanks to Zappos wonderful free returns policy, I ordered two different sizes... my normal size 7 and, after reading the reviews that they run big, ordered down a size (6). For me, the boots are pretty much true to size. I returned the size 6, because it was too short in the toe area. The size 7 is roomy, but if you plan to wear a liner (I ordered the Hunter Moss Welly Sock), the boots will fit just right. A hint: Put the liner on as you would a sock and then put your boot on and turn down the cuff of the liner. This will eliminate uncomfortable wrinkles in the toe area. I got the Merlot Gloss and I just love the color. It's a little bit darker than it appears on the website. I've wanted some Hunter boots for about a year now and I am so happy to have them. They will be perfect for our rainy winter weather in East Texas.

I love these boots! I was thrilled to learn the Huntress was made to fit bigger calves. I often have no luck with taller boots like these, but these fit perfectly and have stretched some too. These boots fit great with tights, leggings, and jeans.

Yes, I love my Hunter boots. No, the Huntress is not as slim as the original, but it still looks great and does the job. For someone who is 5'1", it was the solution. Without the fleece sock, it does bang a bit against my calf when walking, but I would still rather have them than not.

I bought the Huntress boot for my daughter. The regular boot was way too tight around the calf. This boot provides more room and the height of the boot is fine. As with the regular boot, the half size smaller than what she generally wears fit well.

Definitely agree on the sizing recs of other reviewers. I'm a perfect size 7 but ordered a 6. It fit perfectly! Its snug enough to wear without socks or wells but roomy enough to wear with in the winter. I love the huntress fit because my calves are slightly shapely and I can wear these comfortably with jeans as well. I was worried they'd look bulky and make my legs look short but they look beautiful. 'twas a good investment.

Fantastic boots! I've been wanting them for well over a year now, but couldn't bring myself to spend this much on a rubber boot...I'm glad I finally did. Good fit, comfortable and better quality than the various pairs I've had. I have a muscular calf and the Huntress fits great! Also has enough room left for jeans in the shaft and thick socks in the foot. The original was too tall (pinched the back of my knee) and too tight (couldn't wear anything other than stockings, if that). A great buy and Zappos was so fantastic with how quickly they were delivered. A day before estimated delivery! This was the first item I purchased from Zappos and it definitely won't be my last. I fell in love with you guys! I also look forward to rainy days.

I just got these and walked 3 miles to work in the rain! I think I will buy some insoles to wear because the soles are not as cushiony as sneakers, but they are still pretty comfortable. I have 16.5 inch calves. The boots fit around them, but are not very loose. Was able to fit my pant legs inside the boots, but they are a little tight. I bought Hunter welly warmers for the boots for when it gets colder. I won't be able to tuck my pant legs inside the boots with the warmers. I wear a size 8, so I bought the boots in size 8. They are very slightly big, but just enough to so that it can accommodate thick welly socks. I read the other reviews and considered going down a size, but I'm glad I didn't. Some people commented about the extra rubber around the ankles. Although it is a little strange looking, it does allow extra room to tuck in boot-cut jeans. All the jeans I have are boot cut, so I'm glad for the extra room.

I really like the look of Hunter boots but I feel like they are one of those shoes where they either work for you or they do not. This is my third attempt to try a pair. I have pretty muscular calves and have a hard time finding boots. My calves measure 13½" but since the cut of the boot is proportional to the size you are, because I am a 6, the circumference of the opening is always smaller for me. Anyway, the regular classic tall Hunters just fit without tights or pants. So I tried the Huntress but, they are a bit too big at the top. It does not look too bad however and they are so comfortable. My issue with them was that on the backside of the lower leg, they are very roomy... too much. They have all sorts of extra room and gaped a lot. My husband thought they looked funny and if he noticed, then I do not think they are the right style for me. I did try the Kamik Naomi and they were not as comfortable as these but still very comfortable, they have a brilliant shine to them, much more than the Huntress, slightly shorter in height which works well for me sine I am small at 5' even, and they are a bit cheaper. They look so similar that to keep the Hunters versus the Kamiks, I would just be paying a lot extra for the name an Kamik is still a great name as well. All in all, I am returning these an sticking with the very pretty, happy-shiny Kamiks for a lot less expensive. With my savings, I bought another pair of winter boots as well.

These boots run large. I purchased a 1/2 size down and they were still big. Add a comfy insert and a boot sock. Perfect! I chose to keep the larger size because my feet swell. Especially in a tall rubber boot. Great style.

These were exactly the rain boots I was looking for, tall, sleek, and easy to tuck my pant leg inside. I originally purchased the Hunter Original because I thought these would not be tall enough, in fact they are the perfect height, and the Hunter Originals were way to tall.

Initially, I was a bit nervous about how big these shoe felt. It was a bit too big to feel like a size 7, yet if I had gone with a 6 it would have been too small to wear with decently thick socks during the winter. I ended up keeping the size 7 because I live in pretty cold conditions so I knew that I would always be wearing thick socks. Other than that, I am really happy with these boots. They are comfortable and easy to slip on. It is essential to learn how to adjust the side buckles because they can really help make them look cuter! I would recommend getting the products to care for the gloss on the boots.

I was very disappointed, I ordered the 9 because people said it ran big and just a touch too short in the toe, but the 10 was really big in the foot, so I will need to find another boot. I really liked the width around the calf and felt it would have been much easier to tuck in pants when you have more muscular calfs.

I found out I have larger calves for my body, so this boot worked way better for me than the original. It is cute and glossy and great for the rainy Northwest. I wish they made the Huntress cut in more colors. Overall, this is a solid boot. It is a rain boot after all, so I do not expect it to have much arch support or comfort. But these do just fine and I wear them out running my kids to various lessons and activities with no problem. I am a size 5, and the 5 is good. It is slightly bigger than I would like, but not so big that I would try half a size down.

Weird in the ankle. Not as tall as regular Hunter boots. No support or padding on the sole.

This is my 3d pair of Huntress boots. They literally 'work' for me! I've used them for years and have never been disappointed. They are so easy to get on and off, so there is no fuss and pants tuck in comfortably. My foot is a C width and these boots fit perfectly. Great for gardening, yard work, walking in tall grass or through mud, you name it. The green color is classic and I am becoming known for them. The fact that they are no longer made in the UK has not appeared to have negatively affected quality. If it does, I'll let you know.

Zappos customer service is top notch. These are perfect for muscular calves and fit easily over jeans. They are very comfortable. The only con is the white finish to the gloss, I expected them almost like a patent finish, but they are more dull in person. They also run large. I am a size 8 in everything, and if you do not go down a size you will walk right out of them.

Ordered the original Hunters, but with a 16" circumference calf - they didn't fit! Ordered these and they fit wonderfully, but I hate that they are shorter and only come in boring colors. It's like Hunter is punishing us for having bigger calves. Oh well - Zappos was amazing about the return though!

I clearly didn't read the description well enough before ordering these boots as I was surprised by how WIDE they are! I love the height of these boots as the Hunter Original boots are a bit too high for my liking. Unfortunately, these had to be returned as I couldn't walk a step without twisting my ankle!

I tried these because at 5'11" the original gloss Hunters were too tight around my calves. But these ones were too big around the ankles and didn't feel secure on my feet.

I am pretty disappointed with these boots and I am returning them. I had read that the rubber would scuff, but the boots were completely covered with white marks. I did not expect this right out of the box. And to fix it, I must buy a special polishing product? This does not seem like such a great value. The original Huntress did not fit my calves; I am tall and athletic, about 5'9" with 16" calves. The Huntress fit fine in the calf and even had room for welly socks. However, the shorter boot did not give me the look I wanted, as it stopped well below my knee. As for size, I am usually a 9½, but the 9 fit fine. Oh well. My hunt for rain boots continues...
