I am so pleased with my Huntress boots! They do run large so make sure to purchase a size smaller than you normally wear. I was surprised that they were so comfortable and did support my arch. I have found myself hoping for rainy days just so I can wear these boots! I get numerous compliments when I wear them. They wipe clean with a damp cloth and look just as good and glossy as the day I got them. Great customer service and a fantastic boot for wider calves.

Love these boots! I tried the classic style and the calf was too tight to fit with a jean or sock. These look great and perfect for the spring time in New England.

I have to say I am always cautious about ordering on-line, but that being said I was very happy with Zappo's My order was there in one day and we had ordered two pairs of boots knowing we were going to return one and there was absolutely no problems. I am planning on ordering from them again and again.

Perfect if you've always liked the look of the Hunter Original Tall boot but never had calves small enough to fit. Great for shorter/petite people since the shaft is shorter. I'm 4'11" & have 15" calves & can tuck my bootcut jeans inside. I can even tuck in my jeans when I'm wearing lightweight socks & have the Hunter Welly Socks on (a bit snug, but not uncomfortable to wear). Runs a size big, so order down. Boot is big/baggy in the ankle, but accommodates thicker &/or welly socks with no problems. Huntress gloss finish is not glossy like original tall boot (the patent-leather look), so don't be surprised by the dull finish. Has white "blooming" issue (easily remedied using Hunter Boot Buffer Spray). Has better footbed cushioning than most rainboots. For extra support, I used Superfeet Premium Blue insoles. Very sturdy boots that have kept the rain and snow out & my feet dry. Overall, very satisfied with my black Huntress gloss boots and red welly socks!

It is a very nice boot. Good material, good quality. It has wide calves, which is key for me. I need wider calves as always, and I tried the original in store, it is too tight. But the Huntress has no problem. I can even put my flare jeans inside the boots. The only thing is it is kind of short and wide, making my legs look short and calves really big. I suggest people with large calves and not so tall, like me, should go with the short one instead of this.

These boots are amazing! I spent a long time debating whether or not I should spend the money on it but now that I have them on, they're worth every penny. My decision to get them was based mostly on Zappos reviews so here's mine: I'm a perfect 7 in 99% of the shoes I buy and I was really skeptical about ordering a full size down. They ended up fitting perfectly with enough room to tuck in my skinny jeans and two pairs of thick socks. Another thing is that I don't have thick calves (13.5) but I am very short (5'1). I picked the huntress solely because the shaft size is a lot shorter than the originals. I went back and forth about getting the originals but these hit 2 inches under my knee cap. I can't imagine wearing anything taller than that and still being comfortable. When I opened the package, the gloss was a little bit duller than I'd expected and I did get a little of that blooming effect. But taking care of this was cake. I took the Armorall wipes from my car and wiped it down a few times. Worked like a charm. The white residue is gone and my boots are super shiny now. If you're on the fence about these, just get them. They're worth it.

I got these boots in November and am so glad I did. With the crazy winter we are having I am wearing these at least twice a week! The are very comfortable and fit perfectly around my calfs. The only complaint I have is that the color isn't as black as I would have liked. They get a cloudy film over them and when I wipe it off it comes right back. I had to buy and return a couple of pairs before I found the right fit. I wear a size 7 but got a size 6 in these boots. Zappos was amazing with my exchanges and I even received a Thank you card in the mail after my purchase!!!

Great boots! I got the huntress because I wanted to be able to tuck in my pants without feeling like my calves where being suctioned by the boot. I am 6 months pregnant and this boots are perfect, and I know they will be great after pregnancy!

Absolutely love these boots! I've had cheaper boots before but they never been able to make it through a single rainy season. Gloss is definitely better than original because you avoid the whole white powdery finish that is harder to get rid of than you think (should buy the gloss spray). The sizes run a bit high and I'm usually a 7 so I got a 6 which fit perfectly! The slight heel provides good arch support for people who are not used to walking flat for long periods of time. Can't wait to use these when I go to New York!

I'm so happy with these boots!
I too have the so called "athletic calf" and these fit perfectly! I wore them while in Florida everyone else had hiking boots on, and their feet were soaked - not me! I just bought the boot shine to polish them up - the blooming of the natural rubber causes them to look chalky ,especially since I got the black. LOVE THEM!

Overall, a cute, classic boot. Even though this one is a gloss boot, it still does that annoying "blooming" that Hunter is so famous for! I ordered the Boot Buff and Spray to help combat it, and it's helping. These boots are great for wider calves, and are also a little shorter in the shaft, I believe, so perfect for a more petite person. They do run on the bigger side. I ordered a full size smaller and mine fit great with a normal sock. If you plan to wear heavy socks, maybe order your normal size. Very comfy and stylish. My only complaint is the blooming!

Finally, a Hunter boot for short people with robust legs! The proportions are great and the water-resistant boot is very functional in rain and snow. For long walks, I recommend a cushioned insert for comfort.

Needed boots to combat rain and snow on my walk from the parking lot a few blocks away from work. I went right for the Huntress because I have "athletic" calves (about 15") and like having plenty of room in my boots to tuck in dress pants / easy on and off. These fit the bill perfectly! I am usually an 8.5-9 in regular shoes, but took other reviewers' advice and ordered down a size. The 8 fits perfectly and is nice and snug with thick socks, a little roomier with tights. Only downside is they are a little clunky / heavy, but it is a rain boot designed to withstand the elements, so that is to be expected. Overall, very pleased and know I will get many years of wear out of my new Hunters!

We looked all over for this boot (Huntress), found it at Zappos.com, ordered, and the next thing I know, they arrived at my front door! Boots are warm, and with all the snow we have been getting, my feet are staying dry and comfortable. Fit is perfect for my calves. And I love the way they look, too! Ordered down a size (I am an 8 med, so ordered 7 med) as recommended by a retail sales person, and they fit great.

5 stars for Zappos. 3 stars for my Huntress boots. I ordered my boots on a Saturday night over MLK weekend with "Overnight" delivery. Therefore I didn't expect to receive them until Wednesday since Tuesday would be the first business day of the week due to the holiday. They were shipped on Sunday. I received them today! Zappos is the best! As for my Huntress boots, a couple of things: 1. I have big calves. The calf looks big on my calves. However the shorter shaft works great. The originals would have been too tall for my short height 5'3". 2. The blooming is a nightmare. I was so excited to wear my new boots right away. I am still slaving away at getting rid of the white stuff on my black boots. It is obviously a common occurrence; couldn't Hunter think to include a small sample of their polish as a courtesy. It might entice future purchasers. It would definitely help with brand loyalty. I guess I am a wimp. I can't say it enough. The blooming is a nightmare. It's so dumb! Thank you Zappos. Those interested, lower your expectations on the product.

I originally ordered these boots in a size 8 I normally wear a 7.5. However, I returned the 8 s because even with the Hunter Fleece Wellie Socks, this boot was too big in the 8. I returned them and re-ordered this same boot in a size 7. I also ordered this boot, the Huntress, over the original tall boot because I have athletic (bigger) calves, and when I tried on the original boots at the store, I almost could not get the boot off. I have not yet worn my Hunter boots with the Wellie socks but I can't wait to wear them out!

The glossy black is not glossy. Haven't tried to shine it up yet. However, I love that it fits my muscular calves! Now I can wear Hunters, too!

Finally! A boot that fits my calves! I am on the rather short side, and I very athletic calves. I had tried many rainboots, but to no avail. After taking measurements several times, I finally decided to order this boot. It fit my calves, and it hits right below my knee...perfect. I do agree with other reviews that there is too much room in the ankle, but I will deal with that for boots that fit. I plan on getting the liners for wintertime. I expect these to be boots that I wear for a long time.

The Huntress fit my calf area much better than the Originals. The Originals were tight, I could not tuck jeans into them, but since these have a shorter shaft and are wider, jeans can be tucked in with no problem. I have 15" calves for reference. I am typically an 8.5/9 in boots, and the 8 fit great with extra room for welly socks.

I decided to go with the Huntress rather than the Hunter boot because the wider calf circumference can accommodate tucked in jeans, etc. My calves are 16 inches around at the widest part. It's true that the boots are way too big in the ankle area - not such an elegant look - but these are rain and muck boots! They get the job done and in the end are still pretty cute.

Ignore all the sizing advice. I bought a 9 which is what I usually wear and it had a full inch in the toe. When you look at the sizing on the box the US9 Women's was a EUR40/41. I am a perfect EUR39 so the advice to buy on US size is not accurate. Also, the boot is wide (plenty!) in the calf but too wide in the ankle as well.

I bought both the Hunter original and the Huntress, anticipating that the calf might be a bit snug, and I wanted to tuck in my jeans and wear the Hunter socks. Sadly, the original was too snug to tuck anything in. The Huntress ankle area was way too baggy and loose - it looks really weird, and the top of the calf is only about .5" wider than the original. I'm very sad. I wanted to love these, but can't justify a less than perfect fit for the money. Why can't they just make the original with a wider calf? I'm going to try the men's size. I hear the calf runs 1" wider.

I have wanted a pair of Hunter's for a long time, and finally bit the bullet on the Huntress gloss. I tried two sizes. I am typically a size 8, but I went down to a 7 based on reviews suggesting to do so. The 7 fit great in the footbed, but the calf was still very tight on me. There was no way that I could have put pants in them to keep them dry. So, I thought that maybe a size 8 would give me just enough room to tuck my pants in. The calf was barely roomier in the size up, but still too tight. I have been researching, and it looks like the majority of wearers in the UK have the adjustable wellies. When I contacted Hunter they said that they might be available in the US at Nordstrom's in January or February, so I guess until then I am out of luck. I so wanted to love these and have them fit.

So excited to get these but huge disappointment. Not tall enough, calf tight (and I don't consider mine extremely large), and horrible smell as soon as box opened. Not worth the money. 2 stars given only since shoe seems quality material and semi-comfortable. I did keep the wellies though for a different pair of boots.
