This is a great boot for keeping your feet dry! I do have bigger (ahem, more athletic) calves, so it's usually pretty tough to find a boot that fits. However, the Huntress is perfect. It's not too snug, as there is even a little room to tuck a pair of pants in if desired. The boot does run about a 1/2 size too big. However, if you plan to purchase the sock liner to go with it, it's just right. Overall, a great boot!

My wife loves these boots but she also thought the feel under her foot was too much...and felt thin.. so she put a supportive insole (every shoe need one) and perfect feel and fit!

I love welly boots but had a terrible time ordering these. They are well made and worth the money I think. I have a pair of LLbeans I wear in the yard but wanted a cute pair to wear in town. I did not read the reviews. PLEASE if you're short like me (5'2 140 lbs, size 8 foot) the original Hunter boot shaft is long and will hit you at your knee cap so measure and check first. The Huntress is perfect length in the leg but my usual size 8 shoe does not apply to Hunter boots. These easily run a full size smaller size. I am sending these back to get a size 7 and I'll cross my fingers.

These boots are anything but glossy! So disappointed at how dull and un-glossy they are in the boot shaft. The shoe part is somewhat shiny, but the shaft has like a white coating, that I cleaned off, but it came right back when it dried. I might try polish to actually make them "glossy." Adjustable shaft fits my muscular calves nicely I will say. I'll keep them despite my disappointment because they do the job for bad weather, but certainly not worth the price...should've bought Uggs!

While the boots showed up quickly and were the right model and size, it was quickly apparent that they had been previously worn for quite a while. The gloss was heavily scuffed from wear. Almost want to return them.

Do not get the Huntress style unless you have seriously large legs. I have bigger calves and these were ginormous on me. Instead, go for the adjustable original Hunter - much more streamlined, and therefore stylish. Also taller than the Huntress (which hits just above mid-calf, whereas the original comes to just under my knee - I'm 5'2").

These boots have excellent construction, but were far too tight on my calves. They only fit over my calves if my legs were bare, wouldn't even accommodate leggings. Returning for the Hunter Adjustables in the hope that they will be a better fit! No complaints otherwise, they are a good boot, just didn't fit.

Way too small for my muscular calves. I so wish these were just a bit bigger as I love the glossy finish. Ended up ordering the Man's Hunter Original, which have a matte appearance but are roomy enough for the thick socks and re nice and tall.

I went down a size after reading all the reviews. I usually wear an 8.5 so I went to an 8. They were a bit too tight on my wide calves so I went with a 9 and they are a bit better but I wish they were a bit bigger at the top for my jeans to fit into my boots.

These are great for wellies, but they need insoles. The good thing is they run big, so there is plenty of room to add them.

I purchased these after first ordering the Hunter Original because the Hunter Original's calves were too narrow for me. These still aren't wide enough for me to tuck in pants, as I'd hoped, but they're slightly more generous. Unfortunately, the foot was too short when I put on thick socks. I'd ordered a 6 (am a true 6.5) because I read that Hunter runs large in the foot. If you're planning to wear them with thick socks, consider ordering up a half-size if you're in between.

Didn't really love it...the gloss has some kind of odd grey/metallic on it. I thought it would be more polished. Also, the Huntress isn't as wide-calf as I needed.

These were barely glossy, rather scratched, lint and black goo stuck in the sole. I tried to wipe them down with a damp paper towel, but they still had scratches in the leather. Definitely not worth their price point. Also, they weren't red, rather red-orange. I expected a high gloss, but this was an underwhelming boot. However, the fit was comfortable in the toe box and in the shaft. I'll look for something else that's worth the price--returning these.

It is very hard to find a glossy Hunter boot. They came in with white dust all over them, and even after using the hunter shoe cleaner, were still white and ugly. If you buy Hunter boots from the store with no box, then they are okay. For being so expensive, VERY bad shoe!

I wanted to love these boots but I honestly did not. First of all the calf circumference of the original tall ones is not 15" as indicated. It was way too tight in my leg and usually 15 inches leaves me room. I ended up with the Huntress because of this and although the calf fit good, the ankle was very floppy. They were hard to walk in and drive in. I still decided to keep them however until the "blooming" effect they describe was unfixable. I even went and bought the Hunter gloss spray to fix the problem but nothing worked. I do have to commend Zappos for allowing me to return these defective boots. Their customer service is extraordinary! I was so happy to not be stuck paying a lot for boots that looked as though I rubbed white powder all over them!

Ok, I love the shiny look of these but... my calves are a bit wide so I went with the Huntress rather than the regular Hunter boot. Good news? the calf fit just fine. Bad news? The ankles are HUGE. Yes, my calves are a little big but I don't have giant legs. So sad, but they had to go back!

These boots were delivered with a white powdery substance all over them. Based on my research, these boots have bloomed. This may be something that happens over time, but not when you first receive them so I am sending them back.

I ordered these boots at the end of 2012. I wore them very occasionally for 2.5 years until the straps ripped off, tearing big holes on each boot (unwearable in my opinion and beyond repair). I contacted hunter with no reply, and zappos who were of course super nice and helpful but told me hunters are meant to last one season, and that I am lucky they lasted me more than one year. For this price I expected to have them longer...I feel like target brand rain boots would have been a better purchase.

Worst purchase ever. First pair I returned because they arrived cloudy. Zappos excellent customer service replaced them immediately, but within a few weeks the 2nd pair looked just like the ones that I sent back. I have a similar pair made by Sperry that are a couple years old and look so much better. Very disappointed.

I ordered the Huntress Gloss and the Short Gloss. The color and shine on the short gloss is perfect -- shiny, even black. On the Huntress Gloss, it is actually a sparkly black, but the the shine on top of the sparkly black was super uneven, as if a can of gloss was splashed on unevenly. Going back! And for sizing: I'm a pretty solid 9.5, but I have an old pair of Hunter Originals in a 9 and they fit fine. I ordered a 9 again in both the Huntress and Short; in the case of the Huntress, they were a tad small and the Shorts fit exactly right (wearing thin-medium thickness socks). Overall, the Huntress seemed like it was made in a different facility, with poorer quality controls.

Did I miss something? My boots came in an unmarked plain large brown box with no wrapping (over course this was inside a zappos box) ...the boots were covered in some strange white substance that wasn't a powder but wasn't sticky. Maybe this is to protect the gloss in shipment, if so some instructions might have been helpful. Anyway, I went down a half size and they were still too big and the calf part was very large. I was so not impressed with these boots after I spent two winters trying to decide if spending this much (including tax) was worth it for what people say is the rain boot to beat all rain boots. Well it was an epic fail for me. Thank goodness for Zappos and their fabulous return policy.

Too heavy. They are also too tight around my calf. I was also disappointed in the quality. They are not shiny and they look like they have been worn and returned before.

Boots arrived looking like they had already been well worn with white streaks all over them. The fit is also very weird - extremely bulky at the ankles. Huge disappointment, because at 5 feet tall, I was really hoping that the Huntress would work for me! I am returning.
